Seeing that Qin Qi ignored him, Lu Huai lowered his hand in frustration and finally shut his mouth.
Qin Xi stared blankly at her fingers, then suddenly remembered that dream.
A new emperor ascends the throne, and her past is uncertain. A young man in white arrives under the moonlight, offering her a helping hand. They traverse trials and tribulations until spring arrives.
Could he be Lu Huai?
With a slight tilt of her head, Qin Xi glanced at Lu Huai a few times. The latter noticed her gaze and immediately looked up at her, but she subtly avoided it.
Feeling extremely depressed, Qin Xi pressed her temples and said to someone, without really knowing who she was talking to, "I'm going out for a walk."
"I'll go too!" Lu Huai immediately stood up, startling the young master next to him, who was probably from some unknown family.
Lu Huai touched his nose, showing no embarrassment whatsoever; he had no shame anyway.
Qin Qi frowned. "You're following me to the toilet? Are you worried I'll do something to the filth?"
Lu Huai choked, muttered something under his breath, and didn't mention going.
...
Qin Xi walked out of the palace gate along the side, and when she noticed the gaze behind her, she tugged at the corner of her mouth.
What's the point of doing all this now? It's like trying to mend the fence after the sheep are lost; the sheep are gone, and there's no going back.
The palace was lit up everywhere, even the paths in the Imperial Garden. As I walked along the path, I suddenly saw a pale yellow figure bending over, doing something.
Hmm? There are flower thieves in the Imperial Garden too?
Qin Xi narrowed her eyes and slowed her pace.
"These 'golden belt' flowers are still the most beautiful in the palace. Everyone loves beauty, and I only picked a few. His Majesty shouldn't punish me, right?"
The woman chattered on and on, her voice as sweet as a nightingale's song, sounding all too familiar.
"Miss, hurry! Those patrol guards are about to return." Another voice came from the other flower bushes on the right, trembling and seemingly belonging to a maid.
The woman addressed as "Miss" turned around, her gaze finally shifting from the flowerbed to the forsythia in her hand. "Alright, these are enough. I can't take any more with me."
Qin Qi raised an eyebrow, crossing her arms in front of her. "Enjoy yourself?"
Upon hearing the familiar voice, Xu Zi froze, instinctively hiding the flowers behind her back, and squinted to make out who it was. "Who is it?"
The little girl was probably frightened. Qin Xi smiled and said, "It's me, Qin Xi."
"Phew..." Xu Zi finally breathed a sigh of relief and ran towards her with a big smile, "Sister Yizhi, what brings you here?"
"How would I know if I didn't come? Jin Huan even dares to pick flowers in the Imperial Garden!" Qin Xi joked.
Xu Zi chuckled twice, and was about to say something when she saw the patrolling guards not far away. She quickly said, "Sister Yizhi, I...I...I'll go first. It wouldn't be good if they found out."
Qin Qi put her hand to her lips, stopping her smile. "Go ahead, be careful on the road, and also..."
"What?" Xu Zi stopped and looked at her in confusion.
Qin Xi smiled and said, "It's nothing. Zi Hui just misses you. She was saying the other day that you weren't going to see her."
Seeing that the guards were about to arrive, Xu Zi didn't have time to think and immediately said, "Then I will go to the Shu residence to find her tomorrow. You can hold them off for me first."
After saying that, she ran away without waiting for Qin Xi's reply.
Qin Qi shook her head helplessly and walked over to the captain of the guards. The guards quickly bowed to her, and Qin Qi nodded. "May I ask, Captain, where is the latrine?"
The commander bowed slightly and pointed in a direction, "Miss, go straight from here, and you will arrive in a short while."
Qin Qi smiled in response, "Thank you, Commander."
