As the sun sets behind the pavilion, clouds begin to rise over the stream; a mountain rain is imminent, and the wind fills the tower.

Qin Xi covered her face, staring at the person standing in the mirror with dissatisfaction, and muttered under her breath, "Rogue."

The 'hooligan' looked at the person in the mirror and grinned smugly, "Who's the hooligan?"

He raised an eyebrow slightly, his hands moving without stopping, giving off an air of "he dares to do what she says."

Qin Xi pursed her lips and didn't respond.

Lu Huai nodded in satisfaction and carefully dried the water from her hair.

She looked at the couple in the mirror; the man was handsome and the woman had bright eyes and white teeth. They seemed to be a match made in heaven.

Before her eyes, the music of the zither and the harmony of the harp created a serene and peaceful atmosphere. Suddenly, she recalled the polite words spoken by Emperor Yuming and the Empress when she entered the palace to express her gratitude the day after her wedding.

At that time, the two were only superficially compatible, but now they are capable of shouldering the responsibility.

...

That night, the moon was bright and the stars were few, and the light flowed quietly.

After tucking Qin Qi, who was already breathing heavily, into the blanket, Lu Huai left the courtyard under the moonlight.

A moment later, Qin Xi, who should have been fast asleep in bed, suddenly opened her eyes, stared blankly at the door.

...

"Young Master, one person couldn't withstand it and died." In the secret passage, A-Yu followed behind him and reported to him.

For nearly a month, they have been torturing the people locked inside every day. To prevent them from starving to death, they even dislocated their jaws and force-fed them liquid food daily.

"Hmm." Lu Huai responded casually, then asked, "Did you get any information out of them?"

Ayu scratched his head in distress: "We've already beaten them and used torture, but these people are very stubborn and haven't said a word yet."

Upon hearing this, Lu Huai shook his head and then flicked his forehead with his other hand, making Lu Huai howl in pain.

"I said you're an idiot, you're the biggest idiot of all." Lu Huai said with a look of disgust as he walked away, "Let me ask you, before you became my bodyguard, were you subjected to any torture?"

"Ah..." Ayu opened his mouth, staring blankly for a long time: "It seems so."

Lu Huai glared at him with exasperation: "For a dumb guard like you, being tortured is commonplace. What about assassins? Desperate criminals who would immediately seek death if captured, would they be afraid of your little punishment?"

Ayu: "Oh..."

"Oh well, never mind, it's like we're talking past each other." Lu Huai waved his hand. "Where's Su Ying?"

“They’re watching from below,” Ayu said.

Descending the steps, one finds a spacious prison cell, beneath which the two are located.

A person stood at the bottom of the ladder, his clothes fluttering, exuding a clean and refined air, which seemed out of place in this filthy place where prisoners were held.

Hearing footsteps, he turned around, put his hands behind his back, and smiled slightly: "Chang Jue."

The familiar voice startled Lu Huai, who looked up in disbelief at the people below.

It was none other than his elder brother, Lu Chuan. Standing beside him was Su Ying, whose face was expressionless.

"Big brother, you... how did you get here?" He was like a child who had done something wrong in front of his elders, and he tried to hide in a panic, but he could not escape Lu Chuan's bright gaze.

Seeing his bewildered expression, Lu Chuan chuckled.

He always adhered to the principle of patient guidance and never beat or scolded his own younger brother. However, Lu Huai never dared to let him see him make a mistake, and he didn't know why.

Even though Lu Huai is now married and has a family, he remains unchanged.

Lu Chuan beckoned to his younger brother: "Come here."

The latter hesitated for a moment, then walked up to him, lowered his head like a child who had done something wrong, and nervously twisted his hands together.
