"..." The eunuch wiped his sweat obsequiously.
Just as Zhao Yang was happily reaching out to grab the kite, he heard a disdainful voice.
"whispering sound."
"Who?" Zhao Yang turned her head unhappily, searching for the speaker for a moment but finding no one, she became somewhat annoyed. "Who is it? Come out here for me! Or I'll have someone beat you up!"
"Hey," the voice said lazily, "I'm right above you."
Zhao Yang subconsciously looked up, only to find that there was no one on the treetop at all. She realized that she had been tricked and was somewhat embarrassed and angry.
"You dare to mess with this princess? You'll be punished!"
"Tsk, I'm right here." The owner of the voice seemed a little impatient. "How stupid."
Zhao Yang looked over and finally saw the person speaking at the top of another tree.
A handsome young man with rosy lips and white teeth, dressed in plain clothes, lay casually on a thick tree trunk, not caring whether he would get his clothes dirty. Even with his legs crossed, he didn't look ungraceful; instead, he exuded a unique charm.
He had a blade of grass, the name of which Zhaoyang didn't know, dangling from his mouth, and was lazily looking at her. Zhaoyang blushed under his gaze, but the next moment she heard him say, "Fool."
"..."
The palace servants nearby glanced cautiously at their little princess and subconsciously took a half step back, afraid of being caught in the crossfire.
Zhao Yang was somewhat annoyed. She released her grip on the tree trunk, put her hands on her hips, and said, "Who are you calling an idiot? Do you even know who I am? You..."
The boy in white's eyes flashed, and he suddenly sat up, spitting out the grass in his mouth. "Hold on tight, or you'll fall!"
Before he finished speaking, Zhao Yang indeed fell down, staring at him in astonishment while in mid-air, as if she couldn't understand why he had said such a jinx.
The little princess fell into the water with a "plop," and the palace servants stood on the shore pacing anxiously. The boy, seemingly annoyed by their noise, covered his ears and jumped into the water as well.
Zhaoyang is still young and playful, so she hasn't learned to swim. Now she can only splash around in the water, crying and wailing.
"Waaaaah... Help... Am I going to die...?"
"Shut up." The boy swam to her side, grabbed her like a goose, and floated towards the shore.
Throughout the ordeal, Zhao Yang cried out, but dared not make a move. The boy carrying her seemed to have a bad temper. If she angered him, he might throw her back into the water.
The water was shallow near the shore. The boy in white lifted her up, staring at her with a half-smile. "Call me brother and I'll save you. Otherwise, I'll throw you back into the water."
"..."
Zhao Yang had never suffered such humiliation before, and her lips trembled as she was about to cry again. Unexpectedly, the boy covered her mouth and said fiercely, "Still crying? Want to stay in the water?"
Zhao Yang had no choice but to suppress her tears and called out pitifully, "Brother...brother..."
The boy nodded in satisfaction.
Zhao Yang thought he was about to send her up in the next moment, but who knew that the boy would let go of her hand! Zhao Yang was startled and quickly used her hands and feet to hold him tightly.
"Waaaaah! You lied! You clearly said you'd save me if I called you 'brother'!" Zhao Yang was terrified, screaming with her eyes closed, clinging to him like an octopus.
The sudden increase in weight almost made the boy lose his balance. He quickly grabbed a large stone lining the bank, his face contorted with rage, and gritted his teeth as he said, word by word, "Get down from here!"
"No! You just want to drown me!" Zhao Yang refused regardless, afraid that he would be thrown into the water.
“Um… Your Highness,” the eunuch on the shore wiped his sweat, “the water is shallow here, you should… be able to stand up.”
"Uh..." Zhao Yang rolled her eyes awkwardly, tried to stick out her foot, and found that she could easily step on the bottom of the pond. She quickly released the hand that was holding the boy and stood in the lotus pond.
The boy's face was as black as the bottom of a pot as he glared at her fiercely.
Zhao Yang's face turned red. With the help of the eunuch, she scrambled ashore, almost slipping and falling in. It was only when the boy put her feet on his shoulders that she was able to get up.
As soon as Zhaoyang stepped ashore, she was surrounded by a group of palace servants. In contrast, the young man in white did not receive any help and nimbly climbed up on his own.
Feeling somewhat apologetic, she pulled one of the eunuchs beside her to his side and said, "You saved this princess, so I'm giving him to you. His name is Xiao Yanzi."
"..." The boy in white was covered in mud and wiping it off with his hands. Hearing this, he looked up with a look of utter disgust, "Are you sick?"
Zhao Yang: "..."
Xiao Yanzi: "..."
"A fool can become a princess? The threshold is too low." The boy threw the mud on the ground and curled his lip in disdain. "Tch, I don't need that."
If you don't want it, then don't! Why scold her?
Zhao Yang was furious. She pushed aside the palace servants and walked up to him, intending to yell at him fiercely, but she found that the young man was a whole head taller than her.
Their momentum inexplicably weakened.
"..."
The boy glanced at her. "What's up?"
Zhao Yang waved her hand, her voice soft, "...No...it's nothing. What's your name?"
The boy snorted, quite arrogantly, "Why should I tell you?"
"..." Zhao Yang was taken aback by his question and didn't know how to answer. Seeing the boy turn to leave, she suddenly had a flash of inspiration and said, "Because...because you are my brother!"
The boy paused, turned around and thought for a moment. It seemed to make sense, so he mercifully said, "Then remember this well: your brother's name is Lu Huai. If you get bullied outside, just say your brother's name."
