Lu Changjue talked nonsense while drunk; Qin Yizhi returned to her parents' home for a visit.

-

The Ministry of Personnel.

Qin Qi had just returned when she saw Minister Lu pacing back and forth at the door. Seeing her return, he looked behind her and asked, "Where's Chang Jue?"

"Changjue went to the Shu residence, saying he has important matters to discuss with Young Master Shu, and told us not to wait for him."

"Oh! This good-for-nothing, he must have gone out to have fun again!" Minister Lu sighed, feeling extremely disappointed in him.

"Does Father-in-law have something to discuss with Changjue?"

"It's nothing, I was just worried you might feel wronged. How did today go?" Minister Lu asked.

"It went very smoothly, and Changjue also performed very well," Qin Xi said, biting her lower lip.

"That's good then. Oh, you've really gone to a lot of trouble."

-

After returning to her room, Qin Xi sat there, not wanting to do anything or eat anything. It was unclear who she was waiting for.

Lu Huai didn't return until dark, completely drunk.

When Lu Huai's personal bodyguard, A Yu, helped him in, Qin Xi was surprised to realize that she had been sitting for so long.

Qin Xi took him from Lu Huai, who then leaned heavily on her, causing Qin Xi to stumble.

"Weren't you going to see Young Master Shu? Why are you drinking so much?"

After hesitating for a moment, Ayu finally spoke up: "Young Master went to Chunfeng Tower with Young Master Shu, and then... he got drunk."

Chunfeng Tower was the largest and most famous brothel in the capital, and Qin Xi had heard of it.

Qin Xi paused, a sudden sense of disappointment creeping into her heart: "I understand, you can go and rest now."

She placed Lu Huai on the bed, then asked Bao Bao to fetch some water to wipe Lu Huai's hands and feet.

After wringing out the handkerchief, Qin Qi gently wiped his cheeks, but Lu Huai grabbed her wrist. She thought he was awake, but upon closer inspection, Lu Huai's eyes were still closed; he remained drunk.

Lu Huai smacked his lips and mumbled, "I...I don't like it..."

"What don't you like?" Qin Qi asked, going along with his question.

"I don't like...I don't like Qin Xi...I don't like..."

Qin Qi suddenly felt a chill, as if someone had smashed an ice hole in her heart. She had been hungry all day because she hadn't eaten, but now she felt nothing. She pulled her hand away from Lu Huai's and got up to put the handkerchief back in the basin.

Lu Huai was still saying, "I don't like... I don't like her..."

Qin Xi glanced back and smiled, "Yeah, I don't like it."

-

The next morning.

"You unfilial son! Get up now!"

Lu Huai frowned, slowly opened his eyes, and found himself alone in bed, the blankets neatly covering him. Minister Lu was standing beside him, holding the familiar ruler, glaring angrily at him.

Lu Huai pulled the blanket up, feeling a little dizzy. He said weakly, "Father, what's wrong now?"

Minister Lu was furious: "What I have to do is a question for you! What did you do to Yizhi that made her want to go back to the Prime Minister's residence so early in the morning!"

"W-what? Father, what did you say?" Lu Huai thought he had misheard.

"Your wife has gone back to her parents' home! How can a newlywed wife go back to her parents' home on the second day after marriage? Go and chase after her!"

Lu Huai instantly regained his senses, quickly sat up, put on his clothes, and prepared to leave, almost forgetting to put on his shoes.

"Don't come back if you can't catch up with me!"

-

While chasing after Qin Xi, Lu Huai asked A Yu what had happened yesterday. He only remembered drinking with Shu Zhan and couldn't remember anything else.

Ayu hesitated for a moment, then said, "Young Master, you were drunk yesterday. Young Madam took care of you for most of the night, but you kept saying..."

What did I say?

“You said you don’t like the young mistress,” Ayu said, staring at him with a resentful look, as if she were speaking up for Qin Qi.

Lu Huai opened his mouth slightly, slapped his head, and said in annoyance, "I must have talked nonsense while drunk, and she misunderstood!"

This story begins yesterday.
