Only in the cold of winter do we truly appreciate the pine and cypress; plum blossoms adorn the scene, may those who wish come.

Shu Hua knelt down on the prayer mat first, closed her eyes, and said devoutly, "I am Shu Hua, courtesy name Zi Hui. I am seventeen years old, born in the Year of the Rabbit, and my hometown is Shangjing..."

She paused, her curled eyelashes fluttering, and continued, "I already have someone I like, but I haven't revealed my feelings yet."

Qin Xi glanced at her in surprise, then knelt down as well.

"This believer wants to know if she can achieve a happy ending with him." Shu Hua held the divination tube, her hands clasped together. After speaking, she turned to Qin Xi: "Why doesn't Yizhi ask?"

Following her example, Qin Xi silently recited the instructions in his mind before shaking the divination tube with Shu Hua.

After drawing their marriage fortune sticks, Qin Xi picked one up and saw that it read "Seven". Turning her head, she saw that Shu Hua's stick read "Eleven".

Holding the divination sticks in his hand, Qin Qi got up and, together with Shu Hua, put the divination tube back in its original place, then walked to the divination area outside the hall.

The fortune-telling area is where you exchange the numbers you have for corresponding fortune slips. The people who help you get the slips are usually skilled fortune tellers. If you feel a connection with someone, they will help you interpret the fortune; otherwise, you will have to find a specific person to interpret it.

Jinglin Temple has a large number of believers, and the marriage hall is especially popular.

When the two arrived, there were still several people ahead of them in line, and they waited patiently for quite a while before it was their turn.

"Next." The man sat in a chair and picked up the bamboo sticks on the table one by one and put them into the stick container.

Shu Hua was in front of Qin Xi in line. She stepped forward and handed him the bamboo slips in her hand.

The man took the bamboo stick, looked at it closely, then turned around, opened the drawer with "Eleven" written on it on it, and took out a fortune slip and handed it to her.

Shu Hua opened it and glanced at it, her delicate eyebrows furrowing slightly.

"Next."

Qin Qi stepped forward and handed over the bamboo sticks in his hand. While he was taking the paper, he curiously leaned closer to take a look at the paper in Shu Hua's hand.

"The flowers you plant with care may not bloom, but the people you seek without intention may come to you."

Though he remains forever in my heart, my lingering affection can never be repaid.

"What does this mean?" Qin Xi looked at Shu Hua, puzzled.

Shu Hua pursed her lips and shook her head.

Just then, the person who had drawn the fortune slip took Qin Xi's slip and turned around. Hearing Qin Xi's words, he handed her the slip and, while doing so, glanced at the fortune slip in Shu Hua's hand and sighed.

Qin Qi's heart tightened, and then he heard Shu Hua ask, "Sir, what do you mean by this?"

He turned down at the corners of his mouth and shook his head: "What a tragic fate."

Shu Hua subconsciously took a step forward, wanting to say something: "Sir, this..."

The man stretched out a hand and waved it: "Young lady, if you truly like her and aren't afraid of regretting it, there's no harm in giving it a try. But take my advice: there are plenty of fish in the sea, why be hung up on just one?"

Shu Hua pursed her lips and said softly, "No matter how lush the forest is, only this one tree can make me stop."

She was seventeen that year, and there was still a long future ahead of her.

The person who drew the lot sighed and shook their head: "Never mind, next one."

Qin Xi withdrew her gaze and looked at the note in her hand.

What is spring when competition and strife reign? Unintentionally, one finds their beloved.

A sudden wind rises, carrying me on my journey; my soul is dedicated to alleviating the suffering of the masses.

Qin Qi frowned in confusion. She could understand the first two sentences; they simply described how she and Lu Huai were married by imperial decree but were mutually in love.

But what about the last two sentences...?

The person taking the fortune slip glanced at her as they handed it to the person behind them. But that simple glance made his eyes widen.

Seeing that he was looking at it, Qin Qi moved some of the paper closer to him: "Sir, have you noticed anything?"
