"Hmm. You can call me Lu Huai. There's no need to be so formal, otherwise people will think we're too distant," Lu Huai said, not daring to look at her, feeling inexplicably nervous.
Qin Xi thought about it and found it made sense, so she smiled and said, "Then I will call you Lu Huai. You can also call me Yizhi. This is my nickname."
Lu Huai nodded. Hearing her softly call his name, he felt a strange, indescribable feeling in his heart.
Qin Xi walked to the dressing table and took off the phoenix crown from her head: "It's getting late, let's go to bed."
Lu Huai stood up and walked step by step to the bedside, his palms sweating.
Qin Xi closed the door, took off her wedding robe, and then lay down on the inside of the bed, close to the wall: "Lu Huai, you sleep on the outside."
Lu Huai also took off his wedding robe, wiped his hands, and then lay down on the outside of her bed. Turning his head, he saw that she was practically pressed against the wall, and said with amusement, "The bed is so big, I can't even sleep in it. You don't need to do this."
Upon hearing this, Qin Qi paused for a moment, then said, "It's alright, I can't sleep in such a wide space anyway."
Lu Huai noticed her restraint, sighed, reached out and pulled her out of his arms, saying "Excuse me," before letting go and turning away from her.
Qin Qi froze the moment he touched her. Despite her calm demeanor as she bargained with Lu Huai, she was actually very nervous, as she had never shared a bed with anyone other than Shu Hua in her entire life.
The two of them faced opposite directions, their bodies stiff, and slept for a long time before finally falling asleep.
The next morning.
Today is the second day of the wedding. Qin Qi not only has to serve tea to her father-in-law, but also has to go to the palace with Lu Huai to meet the emperor.
For some reason, Lu Huai didn't ask anyone to get the bedding last night. This morning, the blankets were all over her, but Lu Huai was curled up in a ball.
"Lu Huai, it's time to get up," Qin Xi called to him softly.
Lu Huai remained completely still.
Qin Xi patted his shoulder again: "Get up, Lu Huai."
Lu Huai remained completely still.
Qin Xi asked someone to help her wash up, and her dowry maids Lele and Bao Bao entered. Lele and Bao Bao had served her since they were young, so they had a deep bond.
After washing up, Qin Qi asked Lele to bring in a basin of water, and then—
"Ah!" Lu Huai jumped up.
Qin Xi splashed all the water on Lu Huai, then handed the basin to Lele, shrugged, and said helplessly, "I called you, but you didn't get up, so I had no choice but to resort to this."
Lu Huai: "..."
Qin Xi didn't feel that anything was wrong with her, and urged him, "Get up quickly, and then come with me to pay our respects to your father."
Helpless, Lu Huai had no choice but to get up.
After getting up, Lu Huai led Qin Qi to the main hall. When they were almost at the door, Qin Qi stopped.
"What's wrong?" Lu Huai asked.
Qin Xi looked at him: "Do you still remember our three-point agreement?"
"Of course I remember. What's wrong?"
Qin Qi winked playfully and reached out her hand to him: "Hold my hand."
Lu Huai paused for a moment, then calmly took her hand and led her into the hall. However, his right hand, out of Qin Xi's sight, absently touched his wildly beating heart.
Inside the hall.
Minister Lu had already ordered breakfast to be prepared and paced back and forth around the table.
"Master, the young master and young mistress have arrived," said the butler who was keeping watch at the door.
"Ahem..." Minister Lu coughed twice with his right fist to his mouth, and quickly walked to the main seat and sat down.
"Greetings, Father-in-law," Qin Qi said, releasing Lu Huai's hand and curtsying.
