The courtesan, oblivious to the nation's ruin, still sings "The Song of the Rear Courtyard" across the river.

Lu Huai had just gone to the stables to check on the horses when he returned to find Shu Zhan looking like he was about to burst. He glanced at Shu Zhan indifferently and said, "If you need to relieve yourself, hurry up and do it. Otherwise, you'll poop in your pants, which is disgusting."

"..." Shu Zhan choked, "Are you jealous that I'm better looking than you?!"

Lu Huai glanced at him, scoffed, and his eyes clearly conveyed two words—"You?"

Shu Zhan felt his handsomeness had been greatly challenged. He couldn't stand it any longer, so he grabbed the waiter who was seeing off a customer and glared at him fiercely.

"Tell me! Between me and him, who's more handsome!"

As luck would have it, the waiter I grabbed was the same one from last night.

He already felt these two were a bit odd; in terms from thousands of years later, they'd be considered gay. But now he didn't know how to describe it; he just felt like he'd been grabbed by a man and asked which man he thought was more handsome…

The waiter trembled, closing his eyes with a look of utter despair. Heavens above, he truly preferred delicate, charming girls, not those like him!

Thinking this, he inexplicably felt a slight burning sensation where Shu Zhan had grabbed his shoulder. He couldn't help but want to pry those groping hands off his shoulder.

However, when he turned his head, he could see the gay man's fierce eyes staring intently at him.

"Sir...sir..." the waiter stammered for a long time, but couldn't get the answer out.

Shu Zhan: "Hmm?"

Seeing his eyes grow even fiercer, the waiter, with his eyes closed, snorted and pointed at Lu Huai, shouting, "This gentleman is handsome! Please stop bothering me! I really don't like men!"

After these words, there was a moment of silence, and many people cast strange glances at Shu Zhan.

Seeing Shu Zhan's face, which was as black as the bottom of a pot, Lu Huai finally couldn't help but smile, his lips pursed. He smiled, then felt it wasn't quite right, so he coughed twice, preparing to offer words of comfort: "Zixiang..."

Shu Zhan's face darkened further. "Shut up! Are we still going to set off?"

"Ahem..." Lu Huai glanced at him, "Let's go, let's go immediately!"

The two immediately mounted their horses, and before leaving, Lu Huai tossed a silver ingot into the arms of the dejected waiter. Receiving the waiter's horrified look, Lu Huai raised an eyebrow, "I admire your honesty."

Waiter: "..."

The two rode their horses to the theater, where a performance had already begun on the largest stage. However, it was still early, and there weren't many people in the audience. The two followed the waiter and sat down at a window seat.

"A beautiful pavilion stands amidst fragrant woods, her newly made-up beauty is truly captivating."

On the stage, an actor of indistinguishable gender was singing in a garbled, incoherent manner. Shu Zhan picked at his ear and said, "What kind of crap is this? It's even worse than the operas in Beijing."

"Her delicate figure hesitated to enter through the curtain, but then she stepped out and greeted me with a smile."

Lu Huai lowered his head, took a sip of tea, and remained silent.

"The enchantress's face is like a flower glistening with dew, and the jade tree's radiance illuminates her rear courtyard."

The actress's voice was melodious and her tone was mournful. Even Shuzhan, who couldn't understand opera, was somewhat moved by her voice and awkwardly shut his mouth.

After the performance ended, the actor bowed and left the stage. A long while later, someone finally came to their senses, startling the crowd still immersed in sorrow. Everyone sighed with emotion and expressed their admiration.

"Wow..." Shu Zhan looked at them, his eyes widening in surprise, "They can understand?"
