Qin Qi lowered her head, her eyes softly gazing at the exquisitely beautiful little bundle in her arms.
It's a boy.
She had seen many children before, but this was the first time she had ever seen one this small, as if it were only as long as her two arms.
She looked at it a few more times and noticed that the little dumpling had a pair of peach blossom eyes, and its eyebrows and eyes looked exactly like Lu Huai's. And its pink and tender little mouth was similar in shape to her own.
She couldn't help but lower her head and kiss him.
The child was sleeping soundly when he noticed Qin Xi's movement. He opened his eyes and glanced at her, but it was unclear whether he saw her clearly. He closed his eyes again after just one glance and went back to sleep.
Qin Xi couldn't help but chuckle.
Shu Hua sat on the edge of the bed, looking tenderly at the little dumpling. Seeing the heartwarming scene between mother and child, she couldn't bear to disturb them.
Qin Xi, on the other hand, just stared at the child, seemingly never getting tired of it.
Lele knocked on the door and came in carrying a bowl of soup. She placed the bowl steadily on the table and then closed the door again.
She carefully carried the soup bowl to the bedside. "Miss, this is chicken soup that I just simmered in the small kitchen. Drink it while it's hot to nourish your body."
She hadn't felt anything until she mentioned it, but now that she did, Qin Xi felt a bit hungry. It made sense; after exerting so much effort, her once round belly was now empty, so it was only natural to be hungry.
She watched as Shu Hua took the child, and reluctantly accepted the soup bowl, sipping it slowly, her eyes still fixed on Shu Hua.
Shu Hua gently patted the swaddled baby in her arms, humming softly. Looking up and seeing her like this, she couldn't help but shake her head with a laugh, teasingly asking, "What? Afraid I'll take you away?"
Qin Xi then looked away, wiped the soup from her lips, and smiled sheepishly, "I just wanted to take a few more glances."
"There'll be plenty of time to look at them later," Shu Hua said with a smile, then asked her, "Have you decided on a name yet?"
Qin Xi hummed in agreement. "I've decided on the courtesy name, but let's wait until Lu Huai returns to decide on the formal name."
Shu Hua: "What's your name?"
"Sijing, Lu Sijing." Qin Xi took the child back, a smile playing on her lips, her eyes radiating tenderness.
Shu Hua was taken aback. "Si Jing? Which Si? Which Jing?"
“The ‘思’ in ‘日日思君不见君’ and the ‘景’ in ‘急景流年真一箭’”.
Shu Hua thought for a moment, then raised her eyebrows slightly. "Si Jing... why did you choose these two characters? They sound nice, but they always sound a bit like a woman's name to me."
Qin Xi tightened her arms around him. "Have you ever heard a piece of music called 'The Scenery of the Qinhuai River'?"
This piece of music is quite famous; Shu Hua has heard the courtesans in the manor sing it many times. She nodded subconsciously, "I've heard it."
But what does this have to do with Lu Sijing?
Qinhuai scenery... Qin, Huai, scenery... Qinxi, Luhuai?!
Shu Hua looked up abruptly and saw Qin Qi smiling and nodding, as if she knew what Shu Hua was going to say next.
She pursed her lips and smiled subtly, "If he could understand and knew that you said she was like a woman, he might come up to you and argue with you right now."
For some reason, as soon as she finished speaking, Lu Sijing in her arms burst into tears, as if protesting Shu Hua's words.
Shu Hua was startled and almost jumped out of bed. She looked at Qin Xi in surprise, only to see her calmly patting Lu Sijing's back, and soon she calmed down.
