Qin Xi was stunned and stared at him in disbelief. "What did you say?"
Lu Huai blinked. "A private school. I heard it's guaranteed to teach you everything, and if you don't, you have to kneel."
"What private school? Better than the Imperial Academy?" Qin was speechless.
"That's hard to say. This private school is not like the Imperial Academy, which is so outdated." He raised his eyebrows proudly. "This private school is not like that one; it teaches people how to give birth."
Qin Xi picked at her ears, wondering if she had misheard. "(⊙o⊙) Huh?"
Lu Huai looked at her seriously, "Teaching people how to give birth. The teachers there are all extremely experienced midwives and women who have given birth. They guarantee you'll learn."
Qin Xi: "..."
She began to suspect that Lu Huai had suffered some kind of shock and was acting strangely. She privately inquired with Doctor Zheng, but received a completely different answer.
Dr. Zheng said he was overly worried about her, fearing something might happen to her and she might pass away. That's why he was so suspicious and paranoid, adopting a "better safe than sorry" attitude, and he wanted to try anything that might help her during childbirth.
Qin Xi frowned and thought about it carefully, and it seemed that this was indeed the case. Since she became pregnant, Lu Huai had become somewhat dazed, and even many things that A Yu could understand, he had to think about for a long time and still not be able to figure out.
This was especially true regarding her. From food to clothing, he never entrusted anything to anyone else. The only thing he didn't know how to do was dressing, which was why he left that to Lele; otherwise, he probably would have had to do it himself.
Qin Xi pondered for a moment and made up her mind.
That night, she lay in Lu Huai's arms, while Lu Huai was engrossed in reading some book. She didn't know when it started, but Lu Huai had actually begun reading books on childbirth; if she didn't know him well, Qin Xi would have suspected he wanted to become a midwife.
"Lu Huai," she called to him.
Lu Huai hummed in response, but did not look at her.
Qin Xi frowned unhappily, then suddenly exclaimed "Ouch!" which made him immediately drop the book in his hand and look at her nervously.
"What's wrong? Are you okay? Are you feeling unwell? Are you about to give birth?"
His questions came at her like a barrage of bullets, and Qin Xi couldn't answer them all. Since she couldn't answer them, she simply took his hand and gently placed it on her stomach.
Lu Huai stood stiffly, not daring to move, for fear of making her uncomfortable.
The hand felt warm and slightly swollen. He had touched it out of curiosity more than once, but dared not touch it too much, and could only restrain himself. This time, when Qin Qi placed his hand on his, he was reluctant to take it away.
Something suddenly poked his palm, and Lu Huai looked at Qin Xi in a daze, "This..."
Qin Xi smiled, pursing her lips. The baby in her belly was already four or five months along and could move around. The reason she had called out earlier was partly to attract Lu Huai's attention, but also for this reason.
The child kicked Lu Huai again. Lu Huai's eyes widened, and he pointed to his stomach, looking completely bewildered. "What is this...?"
“It’s your child.” Qin Xi looked at him intently. “Chang Jue, it’s your child kicking you.”
His...child?
Seeing him in a daze, Qin Xi leaned over and kissed his cheek. "He's your child. He can't speak yet, but he loves you very much, just as you love him. So he can't wait to tell you that he's your child. He's healthy and will grow stronger and stronger."
"He is looking forward to being born and meeting his most beloved father. He will be good and just wait to see you."
