"I'll ask you again, who ordered you to do this?" Qin Xi closed her eyes, suppressing the surging emotions in her heart, and asked.
Bao Bao's eyes flickered, she covered her head and thought for a moment, then beckoned to her, "Miss, come here and I'll tell you."
With a last shred of trust in him, Qin Xi approached her.
Bao Bao's eyes turned cold, and he pulled out a shard of broken bowl hidden in his sleeve, slashing it viciously at her neck—
No sooner said than done. The guard standing at the door appeared in front of the two in the blink of an eye, and then kicked them—Bao Bao's plan failed.
Qin Qi dared to approach her because the guards behind her were constantly watching. As long as she didn't shamelessly stick her neck into the shard, the guards were certain they could keep themselves safe.
After all, they had been friends since childhood, and Qin Xi still found it hard to believe that Bao Bao would actually kill her. Just now, she had even held onto a sliver of hope, thinking that Bao Bao might genuinely want to tell her something, but now she realized that she was just deceiving herself.
Seeing her like this, Qin Xi was completely heartbroken. He left the cell with a cold face, and no matter how much she cried and screamed, it was to no avail.
Only when she heard her shout those words at the top of her lungs did she pause slightly before continuing forward.
Seeing her emerge, Lu Huai said nothing, simply leading her out. As they ascended the stairs, that utterly familiar voice echoed from the deepest part of the dungeon—
"Bao Bao, see you off, Miss."
...
...
After leaving the dungeon, the two walked back. Qin Xi remained silent, only holding his hand tightly, unwilling to let go even after they were back in their room.
Qin Xi sighed softly, lifted her onto his lap, and then pulled her into his arms. Noticing that the person in his arms was trembling slightly, he couldn't help but hold her tighter, and then gently patted her back.
It was clearly a very small gesture, yet it brought tears to Qin Xi's eyes.
"Okay, it's alright now," he said.
Qin Qimin covered her lips, trying not to make a sound, but she couldn't hide her trembling shoulders.
Lu Huai stood tall and straight, his eyes fixed straight ahead, and said in a serious tone, "If you want to cry, then cry. I won't laugh at you."
Qin Xi was amused by him and gently punched him in the chest.
Seeing her smile, Lu Huai finally breathed a sigh of relief. Then he lowered his head and gave her a light kiss on the cheek. "Don't cry anymore, okay?"
Qin Xi pouted, "I didn't cry."
"Then why are your eyes as red as a little white rabbit's?" he teased.
Qin Xi looked up and hurriedly covered his eyes, "I didn't, it wasn't me, don't talk nonsense."
Lu Huai chuckled and took her hands down, then kissed them repeatedly, making her feel ticklish. "You didn't, it was me. I cried, okay? I'm like a little white rabbit."
"Stop it." Qin Qi subconsciously pulled her hand away and rubbed against him. "It tickles."
It's unclear what he did to offend him, but Lu Huai's eyes darkened instantly, revealing a dangerous undertone.
Qin Xi naturally knew what was wrong with him and was very clear about what it meant. It was precisely because she knew that she couldn't help but bury her head in his chest.
She was incredibly embarrassed, while he had already begun to enjoy his meal.
