020 Let's flirt a little.

The next day, when Li Yang went to Song Xi's residence for acupuncture, she planned to ask Yuan Chongjing why he had so many emotional changes.

However, Song Xi was not there; they were received by Song Xi's apprentice, Qiu Qiu.

His expression was somewhat apologetic: "Madam, Young Master Yuan, I'm so sorry. My master had something come up and left last night at midnight. However, he taught me Young Master Yuan's acupuncture techniques and asked me to perform acupuncture on him for the next few days."

Fearing they might worry, Qiuqiu explained further, "My master said my acupuncture is also effective and won't delay Young Master Yuan's condition."

“We trust the divine doctor,” Li Yang said. She asked Yuan Chongjing to sit down and watched Qiuqiu perform the acupuncture step by step according to Song Xi’s instructions. Li Yang then asked, “Qiuqiu, where is the divine doctor? Is there anything we can do to help?”

Qiuqiu shook her head: "I don't know either. He received a letter last night and left in a hurry, without saying when he would be back."

"Since you're in such a hurry, it must be something very important." Li Yang was a little worried and asked many more questions, but Qiu Qiu knew nothing about them: "I'm never allowed to ask about Master's affairs. But Madam, don't worry, Master said the place he went to is very safe and he will be back soon."

Li Yang thought about it and agreed. As a renowned doctor, Song Xi must have many ways to protect herself. She said, "I was just worrying unnecessarily. How about this, you all stay here for now, I'll go to the kitchen and make you something to eat."

“Okay,” Qiuqiu thought for a moment and then said, “Master really liked the chili sauce dish that Madam made the other day. If it’s convenient, Madam can make some of that. If Master comes back in the middle of the day, he can take some with him.”

Li Yang agreed. Song Xi didn't charge them any fees for treating their illnesses; the only thing she asked for was the wooden carving of the King of Hell. Knowing he liked her cooking, she was determined to prepare something special.

Perhaps Qiuqiu had prepared in advance, as the kitchen was fully stocked with meat and vegetables. Li Yang spent two hours carefully preparing six different flavors of chili sauce dishes that could be preserved.

When she came out of the kitchen and went to the pavilion, she saw Song Xi standing in the hall from afar.

He was dressed in coarse cotton and linen clothes, the materials extremely ordinary, yet he exuded a touch of nobility. Upon closer inspection, Li Yang noticed Song Xi's utter exhaustion, the bloodshot eyes clearly visible, and the dark circles around them stark. He was always extremely conscious of his appearance; for him to emerge looking like this indicated that something truly had happened.

Li Yang walked over quickly: "Young Master Song."

Song Xi examined Qiu Qiu's acupuncture treatment and explained some key points. Just as he finished, he heard Li Yang's voice. He composed himself, turned around, and smiled, "Yangyang. Qiu Qiu said you prepared some side dishes for me?"

Li Yang nodded: "I didn't know you were coming back, I left everything in the kitchen. Young Master Song, is something wrong? Is there anything we can do to help?"

“No need,” Song Xi refused. Seeing that she was still a little worried, he explained, “My grandmother’s health isn’t very good, and I have to go back to take care of her from time to time. As for acupuncture, I’ve already discussed it with Qiuqiu, so we’ll leave it to him for now.”

“Okay,” Li Yang replied. It concerned his private matters, and he didn’t want to say more, nor was it appropriate for her to inquire. However, upon reflection, Song Xi, as a renowned physician, had to endure such a condition and be by her side constantly, indicating that Old Madam Song’s illness must be quite serious.

Song Xi silently tugged at the corner of her mouth and changed the subject: "I can't be out for too long, Yangyang. Could you please go to the kitchen and bring me the side dishes you made?"

Li Yang was taken aback for a moment, then immediately realized that he had come specifically to check on Yuan Chongjing's acupuncture treatment. She felt a surge of gratitude and said, "Ah? Oh, okay, Young Master Song, please wait for me. I'll be right there."

She ran to pack the side dishes into small porcelain bottles and jars, then ran back, panting, and handed them to Song Xi.

After taking the items, Song Xi didn't linger and quietly left through the back door.

Watching his figure gradually disappear around the corner, Li Yang felt a pang of sadness for him.

When she came to her senses, she saw Qiuqiu sitting alone on the bench, quietly waiting for his acupuncture session. Perhaps due to malnutrition in childhood, he was thin and small, looking extremely frail. With Song Xi gone for so long, he was the only one left in the large courtyard. Li Yang felt a pang of pity: "Qiuqiu, I still have some food in the kitchen. Go and eat some."

There were only the three of them in the pavilion. Qiuqiu assumed she had something to say to Yuan Chongjing, and since there was still some time before the needles were removed, Qiuqiu replied, "Okay. I'll come back when it's time to remove the needles."

After watching him leave, Li Yang was left with only Yuan Chongjing by her side. She sat in front of him, resting her chin on her hand on the stone table, watching him intently.

He was much better today; there wasn't much sweat on his forehead, which gradually disappeared as the wind blew. Only a few fine beads of sweat remained on the tip of his nose. His expression was also calm; his brows were relaxed, his eyes were slightly closed, and his lower lips were naturally closed, not pursed.

He should be better soon.

A bittersweet feeling slowly seeped into Li Yang's heart.

"Brother Jing? Yuan Chongjing? Can you hear me?" Li Yang tried calling out twice, and only after seeing no response did he become bolder. He said in a muffled voice, "You can't hear me, right? That's good. If you can't hear me or see me, then I don't have to face all of this."

She sighed and reached out her finger to touch his lips. But at the last moment, she timidly withdrew it.

She has always been timid.

Just like the past five years she had spent alone with him, she had never expressed her feelings. She just wanted to do better and better, so that he would see her, think that she was a good wife candidate, and perhaps even think that it wouldn't be bad to spend his life with her like this.

She thought life would always be peaceful. He would pursue his career outside, while she would take care of his family and Xiao Taozi at home. Occasionally, they would go out and show off their title as "the most loving couple in Kyoto." The two got along harmoniously and peacefully.

Perhaps it was time. She had always known that this day would come, that something would happen to break the harmony between them and bring about a completely new change in their relationship.

We've arrived.

Once Yuan Chongjing regains his memory, he should make a decision. Little Peach is all grown up now; she'll only cry for a while without him, but she'll quickly adapt to life without him. Divorce might be his first choice.

Why are you crying?

Lost in thought, she felt both sad and wronged. It wasn't until he touched her arm that Li Yang snapped out of her daze and saw Yuan Chongjing had opened his eyes and was looking at her: "Why are you crying?"

Li Yang wiped her face, only then realizing that she had shed some tears without realizing it. She said nonchalantly, "I'm fine. Why are you open your eyes? Didn't Young Master Song say that the acupuncture was suppressing your senses?"

Yuan Chongjing said, "Perhaps my condition has improved a bit. I'll ask him again next time he comes. Why were you crying just now?"

"It's nothing." Li Yang was a little embarrassed and didn't dare to look him in the eye, so she stood up: "It's almost time to remove the needles, I'll go find Qiuqiu."

Yuan Chongjing didn't let her off the hook. He grabbed Li Yang's wrist, forcing her to stop: "Why are you crying? Who made you angry? Did my mother force you to have a baby again?"

"No," Li Yang denied. Seeing that he wouldn't give up until he got what he wanted, she made up a reason: "I was worried about you and felt sorry for you. It has nothing to do with anyone else."

Yuan Chongjing abruptly released her wrist, letting out a somewhat awkward groan: "We're out in public, you should tone it down a bit."

His strong reaction made Li Yang laugh. Oh well, the future is the future. While Yuan Chongjing is still suffering from amnesia, and innocent eighteen-year-old boys are a rare sight, she has to cherish him.

Seeing him sitting there unable to move, Li Yang reached out and touched his cheek, her arrogant tone laced with teasing: "What's there to hide? You're my husband, do you think I should hide my feelings for you?"

Yuan Chongjing couldn't dodge or move, and her face immediately turned red. She shouted without any intimidation, "Li Yang! Stop right there!"

"Stop it!" Li Yang said, then used both hands to pinch his cheeks like she was pinching a little peach. "You're so thin all over, but here you have a lot of flesh, soft and warm. You know what, it feels really nice to touch."

Yuan Chongjing had never experienced such an embarrassing moment in his life, especially in front of Li Yang. Enraged, he reached out and grabbed Li Yang's wrists, pinning her hands behind her back.

Li Yang immediately began to struggle. But despite Yuan Chongjing's efforts, she was no match for him. The two rubbed against each other, their distance growing ever closer, until neither noticed that his face was almost pressed against her chest.

Upon sensing the softness, Yuan Chongjing froze immediately. Only Li Yang didn't react, twisting her body slightly.

Afraid of brushing against her body while maintaining the same position, Yuan Chongjing immediately looked up to avoid it.

Only then did Li Yang realize that the distance between the two of them was too close. She froze, keeping her head down and not daring to move.

Their eyes met, revealing an undeniable ambiguity.

And thump, thump, thump—it was someone's heart beating loudly and intensely.

"Madam, Young Master Yuan, it's time to remove the needles!"

A voice broke the silence between them. Qiuqiu slipped in from the corner of the wall not far away. After seeing their actions, she quickly apologized: "I'm sorry, I'm sorry, Madam, Young Master Yuan, I didn't know you were... I'm so sorry."

Li Yang broke free from his grasp, naturally straightened her disheveled sleeves, and spoke in a normal tone, taking two steps back to let Qiu Qiu step forward: "It's alright, let's remove the needles."

Yuan Chongjing: "..."

They change their tune so quickly.

Li Yang, you're amazing!
