Chapter 66. Do you like her?
"Cloudwing City," Meng Chiwan slowly uttered the city's name.
Wen Liansong was also taken aback when she saw the name of the city, and then said, "This is where the Yun family is located, and..."
Meng Chiwan noticed her hesitant expression and leaned closer to ask, "And what's wrong?"
“Do you remember when we entered the illusion of the Myriad Phenomena Disc together? I heard you say that you were all at Willow Garden, but I wasn’t there,” Wen Liansong said in a low voice.
Meng Chiwan instantly understood her meaning and said, "You mean, you've come to Yunyi City?"
"Mm." Wen Liansong nodded.
Meng Chiwan frowned slightly, then asked, "Did you see anything?"
“A… magnificent room, but the entire room is locked by a barrier. I can’t go in, and I can’t move. It’s like I’m bound there by something.” Wen Liansong lowered his head and pondered carefully, a few strands of hair on his forehead floating like seaweed in water.
"Is that place related to Willow Garden? Have you ever seen Willow Garden?" Meng Chiwan asked hesitantly.
“No. I’ve always tried to break free from those things, but it feels like there are countless threads pressing down on you, and you can’t break free no matter what you do. Those things are like… the air that seeps into everything.” Wen Liansong recalled, and it wasn’t a pleasant memory for her.
"Besides reflecting the owner's memories, whose memories will the Universal Mirror also reflect?" Meng Chiwan asked, the slight frown between her brows completely gone.
This time, Wen Liansong did not answer, but looked at Wei Jiyu.
Wei Jiyu paused for a moment, then replied, "It will reflect the memories of all those who have recently left their spiritual power on it."
Before the last word had even faded, a person instantly came to Meng Chiwan's mind.
That person was a liar, like an extremely dangerous flower, always exuding a mesmerizing fragrance, but once you get close, it will begin to fester.
Did he also leave his spiritual energy on the Omnipotent Instrument Disc?
She guessed this, but ultimately didn't ask.
At the very front of the ceremony, the earth spirit who was holding a celestial bell with both hands raised suddenly shook the bell.
The bell rang outwards, its sound clear and melodious, like water rippling in the breeze.
Wei Jiyu suddenly said, "The instructions on the Myriad Manifestations Instrument are becoming disordered. There should be clues about Willow Garden here."
Meng Chiwan immediately looked at the sky bell that was raised high.
The bell is supported by a cloud-colored porcelain tube, from which hangs a tassel that makes a silent rustling sound.
The ringing continued incessantly, and the panorama remained in disarray for a long time.
Wei Jiyu made a quick decision: "Let's participate in this ceremony first, and then take the opportunity to sneak into the Yun family."
...
"What kind of festival is this?" Meng Chiwan asked in a low voice as she mingled in the crowd.
The crowd was dense yet orderly. Apart from some cultivators and members of the Yun family, there were also many ordinary people among them, gathered in the center of the ceremony, seemingly watching something.
Wen Liansong walked beside Meng Chiwan, constantly looking inside, but couldn't see anything. He could only vaguely say, "It's a morning sacrifice ceremony, I suppose. It's said to be a tradition in Yunyi City to worship the ancestors of the Yun clan."
"What does the Yun family's pilgrimage have to do with other people? Why are so many people gathered here?" Meng Chiwan asked, puzzled. She also stood on tiptoe to try to see, her light blue skirt draped gracefully beside her like flowing water.
"It must be that the Yun family will give them some benefits, right? Or is it that the Yun family has a very high reputation in the local area and is supported by the people, so they came to participate in the pilgrimage?" Wen Liansong fanned himself with his hand and guessed uncertainly.
The two stopped talking, but Wei Jiyu, who was following behind them, looked inexplicably toward the center of the festival, as if she had noticed something.
Meng Chiwan didn't notice Wei Jiyu's side, but when she stood on tiptoe to look again, she found that a force from who knows where was pulling her up a little, but it was not substantial, as if the wind was gently blowing and then helping her.
At the very front were undoubtedly the people carrying the sacrificial flag, followed by several people dressed in plain robes who lined up on both sides. They seemed to be some respected elders, and finally, they were undoubtedly some members of the Yun family.
Meng Chiwan glanced around and saw that there were no ordinary people among them; most of them were already at the Golden Core stage or higher.
There was only one exception.
That person had an upright posture, yet somehow gave off a lazy feeling. He was clearly wearing a plain robe, but he exuded a different vibe. His posture was upright, elegant and graceful, like a crane in the sky.
Seemingly sensing the gaze, a faint smile appeared on his otherwise expressionless face, and beneath the long veil, his face, with its perfectly proportioned features, was facing Meng Chiwan.
Meng Chiwan looked away as if she had been electrocuted, and the wind that had been supporting her dissipated like a startled bird.
Wen Liansong patted her shoulder and said, "Didn't we say we wouldn't use spiritual power for the time being? How come you're flying?"
"If I said it was the wind, would you believe me?" Meng Chiwan said earnestly, but her words sounded like drunken ramblings.
"I don't believe it." Wen Liansong's expression was complicated.
"That means, a dog is plotting against me." Meng Chiwan's words were almost deliberately meant to humiliate someone.
But where she couldn't see, the young man's smile widened.
"What did you see?" Wen Liansong asked her curiously.
“There are some people from the Yun family inside. It’s probably a traditional pilgrimage ceremony,” Meng Chiwan replied calmly.
Wen Liansong asked her, "Is the head of the Yun family here?"
Meng Chiwan thought back for a moment, trying hard not to think about that face: "I don't recognize any Yun family head, I can only see that there are indeed several Yun family elders walking in front."
Wen Liansong: "What about Immortal Lord Qingyi?"
“…Yes.” Meng Chiwan said helplessly.
“When Immortal Lord Qingyi is present, the Patriarch should also attend,” Wen Liansong said.
After a pause, Meng Chiwan raised her calm, watery eyes and asked, "What kind of status does Immortal Lord Qingyi hold in the Yun Clan?"
Wen Liansong was not surprised that Meng Chiwan would ask this question. After thinking about it seriously, she said, "Probably below the head of the family. However, it is not accurate to say that. After all, the head of the Yun family protects him like the apple of his eye. The head of the family might even have to listen to him."
Meng Chiwan curled her fingertips slightly, then turned her head to look at the crowd again: "Doesn't this seem even less rigorous?"
Wen Liansong instantly broke into a smile, his face full of mischievous grin: "If you don't believe me, why don't you ask Junior Brother Wei?"
Meng Chiwan was speechless for a moment, choked with emotion: "I believe you."
Wei Jiyu behind him remained silent, only blushing.
Meng Chiwan looked helplessly at Wei Jiyu, and then said, "Are you some kind of mimosa? You've already reacted before I've even touched you."
Wei Jiyu's face turned even redder instantly, like a ripe shrimp. He pretended to be busy wiping behind his ear, and then said, "It's not a mimosa."
Meng Chiwan became interested and asked, "What is that?"
To everyone's surprise, Wei Jiyu said in a serious tone, "It's not an ordinary mimosa, it's a mimosa that only reacts when it touches Meng Chiwan."
Meng Chiwan chuckled, then said, "Then I won't touch you anymore. Can you turn back?"
“There’s a buffer period.” Wei Jiyu looked at her smiling eyes, his gaze full of tenderness, like a summer night breeze gently caressing the grassland.
"How long is the buffer period?" Meng Chiwan asked again.
Wei Jiyu replied earnestly, "I don't know either, Chi Wan can give it a try."
"I won't try," Meng Chiwan said deliberately.
Wei Jiyu's expression remained unchanged as he quietly gazed at Meng Chiwan, but the blush on his cheeks deepened. He then smiled and said, "That's troublesome. Why can't it get better?"
Meng Chiwan wanted to say something more, but then she heard Wen Liansong say from the side, "You two? Hey, hey, hey, I'm still here."
Meng Chiwan turned around, gently patted Wen Liansong's face, and comforted her, "Then I won't talk to him anymore, I'll only talk to you."
Wen Liansong nodded in satisfaction.
Then the group followed the festival crowd forward, until they reached a point where the crowd finally stopped flowing.
Meng Chiwan looked up again on tiptoe, but this time there was no longer the force that had lifted her up.
She thought about it carefully, and then remembered her conversation with Wei Jiyu.
She had originally intended to use some spiritual power to rouse herself and see what would happen, but now she no longer thought so.
She cleared her throat lightly, and was about to call Wei Jiyu's name when the force suddenly came up.
She was pleased to see a huge platform rising in the very center of the ceremony, covered with dark memorial tablets.
This time, she deliberately avoided looking in Yun Xianqing's direction, but the wind that was lifting her was also deliberately turning her towards Yun Xianqing.
So, naturally, she spotted the young man standing below the stage at a glance.
The young man's expression was indifferent; he didn't look at the memorial tablet or anyone else, but focused intently on Meng Chiwan's direction.
Meng Chiwan remained expressionless.
The young man, however, did not care at all; a satisfied smile even appeared in his eyes.
Meng Chiwan knew what he was laughing about. She hadn't been able to call out to Wei Jiyu as she wished, nor had she spoken to him; he should be happy at this moment.
Although she didn't have much feeling for Wei Jiyu at the moment, that didn't stop her from finding some fun and making Yun Xianqing suffer before she could kill him.
“A slight clearing of the sky.”
The force that was lifting her suddenly bumped her side lightly, as if someone had gently pinched her.
Meng Chiwan smiled with satisfaction.
Do you like her?
That would be quite uncomfortable.
She could dislike or like anyone, but she would never feel any affection for Yun Xianqing again.
"Help me up," Meng Chiwan said softly when she saw Wei Jiyu looking at her.
Wei Jiyu nodded and helped Meng Chiwan up. Then he heard Meng Chiwan whisper in his ear, "Someone is causing me a lot of trouble. Can you help me? It's okay if you don't want to."
Wei Jiyu was puzzled, but upon hearing her speak, he replied without hesitation, "Yes, I'm willing. How can I help?"
The wind that had been carrying her dissipated. The wind seemed unwilling to listen any longer.
The next moment, someone announced loudly, "Thank you all for participating in the Yun Clan's sacrificial ceremony. Next, we will select a few people to enter the Yun Clan to choose their opportunities. You may stay at our Yun Clan for the time being!"
Meng Chiwan simply shook her head and said she was fine, then fell silent.
The next instant, a pale aura enveloped her.
She looked up, puzzled, and saw that Wen Liansong was also surrounded by a ray of spiritual light.
Then, she looked at Wei Jiyu.
Unsurprisingly, Wei Jiyu didn't have it.
Meng Chiwan frowned slightly.
What a coincidence!
