Chapter 423 I no longer bear the surname Nangong.
Han Ziyang and Gongsun Qi needed to go through a dog hole to enter the North-South Thirty-Six Streets, but Yu Sui followed the Nangong family's group and entered the street openly.
The guards from the Criminal Investigation Department outside obediently made way, and no one dared to stop them.
Throughout the journey, Yu Sui did not exchange a single word with Chu Jin. She remained silent, and Chu Jin offered no sarcastic remarks.
Last night, Han Bing led the men of the Nangong Second Division into the North and South Thirty-Six Streets to find Gongsun Qi. Later, they stayed at Tongtang to watch the battle and have not left since.
Yu Sui walked at the front, holding an umbrella. She could see the huge red fish swimming in the distance. Although it only covered the Tongtang Street area, it was even bigger than the one she had seen in the Dragon Slayer Cave.
The Dragon Fish Soldier Formation in the Dragon Slayer Cave is a dead formation, uncontrolled by anyone. As long as the puppet soldiers don't find it, you're safe.
But now the person controlling this military formation is Zhong Li Ci, the God of War, and Gongsun Qi is a madman. It's really hard to predict what the final outcome will be.
If Zhongli Ci were to die from the strange fire... I fear Zhongli Que would never forgive the destroyer of the world.
"Sui Sui?" Yu Sui was still looking in the direction of the military formation when she heard Han Bing call her. "Why are you here?"
“Father sent me.” Yu Sui withdrew her gaze and said to Han Bing, who was walking over, “He said you guarded Tongtang all night, so I’m here to take your place and let you return to the Prince’s Mansion.”
Han Bing walked out from under the eaves, soaked to the bone. When Yu Sui saw him approaching, she held up her umbrella to shield him from the rain.
"You don't need to do this for me, go back," Han Bing said.
Before Yu Sui could reply, Chu Jin, who had walked up behind her, said calmly, "Your father wants you to go back, but you won't listen?"
Han Bing raised his eyes and glanced over. Chu Jin continued, "Mr. He arrived at the manor last night. Father discussed things with him all night. He must have a lot to say to you."
"Brother, go back and rest for a while," Yu Sui said to Han Bing with a smile. "I'm just here to keep an eye on the battle; I'm not going to fight them."
Han Bing patted Yu Sui on the shoulder, signaling her to wait a moment, then walked towards Chu Jin, his eyes silently indicating that he wanted to speak privately.
The two walked into the back alley, and Yu Sui continued to examine the soldiers' formation ahead, ignoring what they were saying.
A short while later, Han Bing came over and told Yu Sui to be careful and pay attention to safety. He also left the people from the Nangong Second Division with her and told her that she could mobilize these people at will.
Yu Sui nodded in agreement and watched Han Bing leave.
"Brother is really strange. I only came here to keep an eye on the battle between General Zhongli and Gongsun Qi, not to kill Gongsun Qi. Why does he act like he's afraid I'll die in this neighborhood?" Yu Sui muttered to himself.
Chu Jin smiled enigmatically after hearing this.
"You stay here by yourself, I have other things to do." Chu Jin glanced at Yu Sui.
Yu Sui, holding an umbrella, retreated under the eaves and asked with some curiosity, "Sister, I have a question I'm very curious about."
"What?" Chu Jin raised an eyebrow in surprise.
Yu Sui asked her, "In the laws of the Six Nations Alliance, orchid poison is classified as a top-level prohibited substance. Whether buying or selling it, the penalty is three years in prison at the very least, and death at worst, is that right?"
"Are you planning to become a Legalist?" Chu Jin mocked.
Yu Sui shook her head and pointed at her with her eyes: "Sister, I was afraid that you would be unable to withstand the injuries and would have wicked thoughts, wanting to use the orchid poison to forcibly recover. That's why I kindly advised you that whether you buy or sell orchid poison, the risks are very high."
"I also advise you, instead of wasting your time thinking about other things, you should worry more about whether you live or die." Chu Jin stood in the rain, his gaze sweeping coldly over her.
Yu Sui smiled and looked back, saying nonchalantly, "What's there to be afraid of about death?"
"Aren't you afraid of dying?" Chu Jin retorted.
“I used to be most afraid of dying,” Yu Sui said regretfully. “Now I’m afraid that the people who should die are still alive.”
Chu Jin was stunned. The girl under the eaves held an umbrella. Because of the family's funeral, she was dressed in plain white clothes. She had also removed the gold and silver jewelry she usually wore, leaving only her hair in a thin braid. Her fair and beautiful face suddenly became dazzling when she smiled.
"Who do you think deserves to die?" Chu Jin asked.
Yu Sui didn't answer, she just blinked and looked at her.
In this silent standoff, Chu Jin's gaze gradually turned cold: "I ask you, were you involved in the discovery of the Taiyi Xuankui stronghold?"
Yu Sui said, "Dean Ou did indeed invite me to the Mirage Sea."
Chu Jin said coldly, "It seems you still didn't understand. Let me ask you more clearly: Was it you who leaked the news that the Fog Sea base had been discovered?"
"Me?" Yu Sui tilted her head in confusion. "Why would I do that?"
"That's a question for you to answer," Chu Jin looked directly into her bewildered eyes, an invisible pressure emanating from her body, "Why did you do this?"
"Sister, what kind of answer do you want to hear?" Yu Sui replied calmly, "It was I who deceived Dean Ou, found the secret stronghold hidden in Taiyi, and then revealed it to the other Taiyi Saints, leading them to go and capture Dean Ou. I also threw the seriously injured Zhang Xiangyun there, making Dean Ou mistakenly believe that Zhang Xiangyun had brought the people there, and ultimately killed him to vent his anger. It was I who made Xuan Kui's people run around in circles and wiped them all out in one fell swoop."
Do you like hearing this answer?
Chu Jin paused for a moment when she heard about Zhang Xiangyun's fate.
Yu Sui raised the umbrella and smiled as she looked at Chu Jin.
"So...you're saying that the Yu Lan Si outside the capital city a few days ago was someone you summoned?" Chu Jin asked softly, but her breath sounded like a venomous snake flicking its tongue, sending out a dangerous signal.
"Really?" Yu Sui pretended to be puzzled and thought for a moment, then burst out laughing. "I thought you should have learned your lesson after being imprisoned in Chongtai Third Prison, but who knew you would be so stupid as to fall into my hands a second time."
She looked at Chu Jin with the kind of look one would give an idiot while laughing.
Chu Jin felt a sudden boom in her mind, and the buzzing in her ears was accompanied by flashes of memories from that period.
She had suspected the Taiyi stronghold and the events outside the Qingyang capital, but she never imagined that she would be imprisoned in the Military Prison of Chongtai. Therefore, the matter of her severed arm also showed signs of Yu Sui's involvement.
No matter how deeply I pondered it, I couldn't figure out how she did it, when she was far away in Taiyi.
Chu Jin reached out and grabbed her throbbing right arm, her fingers digging deep into her clothes, a hint of fierceness in her expression: "Nangong Sui."
“I no longer bear the surname Nangong,” Yu Sui interrupted her with a smile, “but you are not worthy to know my name.”
"I never knew you had such ambitions, that you had planned so meticulously all this long ago!" Chu Jin laughed angrily. "But in the end, all your scheming has come to nothing! Stripped of the Nangong surname, you will never be the future head of the Nangong clan!"
“If the Nangong family decides its head based on surname, then it’s just a third-rate family. What’s there to covet?” Yu Sui mocked. “Only a brainless wretch like you would consider it a treasure.”
Chu Jin said coldly, "You only pretend you don't care now that you can't have it. What was the point of everything you did before? You're the one who's pathetic now."
"Then I'll tell you why. It was you who insisted on getting me involved in Xuan Kui's business. You foolishly wanted to test me, but you got a result you couldn't bear." Yu Sui looked at Chu Jin quietly, her smile intriguing.
Chu Jin seemed to remember as well, and her expression turned ugly.
She had chosen to use Xuan Kui to test Yu Sui's strength, but she never expected Yu Sui to be so well hidden.
"Have you been pretending to be crazy for the past ten years?" Chu Jin asked this question with some reluctance, unwilling to admit the truth.
"When it comes to pretending, I can't compare to you, elder sister. You faked your death and pretended to be Xuan Kui Bai Kou for many years. Nobody knew that Xuan Kui Bai Kou of Qingyang was actually the eldest daughter of the Nangong Prince's Mansion, the daughter of Nangong Ming."
Yu Sui raised the umbrella in her hand: "If I weren't holding an umbrella, I would have applauded and praised you."
Chu Jin's expression was inscrutable, while Yu Sui innocently asked, "Sister, do you think it's better to be a young lady of the Prince's Mansion or a member of the Xuan Kui Hundred Bandits? If I stop being a princess of the Nangong Prince's Mansion, will Father let me be a member of the Xuan Kui Hundred Bandits for fun?"
"You're dreaming. I'm in charge of Xuan Kui's business. Even Father can't interfere!" Chu Jin asked in a deep voice. "You've been pretending for so many years. Now you're laying your cards on the table and don't want to pretend anymore?"
"There's no need," Yu Sui shrugged lightly.
Chu Jin sneered, "Indeed, there's no need. You thought that after becoming a ninth-rate sorcerer, Father would change his mind, but you didn't expect that in Father's eyes, you are still a pawn that will inevitably be discarded."
She took a deep breath, suppressed all her emotions, slowly loosened her grip on her right arm, and looked at Yu Sui with renewed composure and arrogance:
"Here's one last piece of advice: think carefully about how you can minimize your suffering when you hand over the Breath of Earth."
"Really?" Yu Sui asked in surprise. "If I need the orchid poison to relieve pain, would you be willing to give it to me, sister?"
Chu Jin looked at him as if he were a dying man: "For the sake of our shared motherhood, give me as much as you want."
"Sister, I'm starting to feel a little embarrassed that you've fallen for me time and time again." Yu Sui shook her head with a smile.
The clear call of the Blue-winged Fragrance-Seeking Hummingbird startled Chu Jin, who suddenly looked around. Figures descended from the rooftops and streets, their forms concealed by black robes. They removed their hoods, their expressions cold and stern, their sharp gazes fixed on the woman standing in the street.
The capture of Gongsun Qi drew almost all the guards in the city. The commotion on the 36th North and South Streets last night attracted a large crowd of onlookers.
This 36th Street is not only a thorn in the side of the Criminal Investigation Department, but also a key area of focus for the Imperial Orchid Division.
The Imperial Guards who came today were not newly recruited greenhorns, but rather people with a blood feud with Xuan Kui, a feud that could never be ended.
Chu Jin was not afraid of any number of people who had a grudge against Xuan Kui, but she could not ignore Duan Fengning, who was standing opposite her.
The Duan family member, His Majesty's own son, the Sixth Prince.
Duan Fengning lost his position in the Imperial Orchid Division because of Nangong Ming and was also scolded by the Qingyang Emperor. Now that he has caught Nangong Ming's daughter as a member of the Qingyang Xuan Kui Hundred Bandits, he couldn't help but laugh when he saw Chu Jin's shocked expression.
"Miss Chu, or should I call you Qingyang Bai Kou, Qing Kui?"
"You..." Chu Jin's incredulous tone was tinged with a hint of rage as she asked Yu Sui, "You summoned people from Yu Lan Si?"
"What are you saying, sister? I was just expressing my appreciation for Yu Lansi's hard work, spending a lot of money to send them a batch of black wind robes." Yu Sui twirled the umbrella in her hand, her relaxed and leisurely demeanor completely out of place with the tense and murderous atmosphere around her.
"His Highness the Sixth Prince came here specifically to thank me for this matter, and happened to overhear our conversation just now."
Duan Fengning glanced at Yu Sui, who was making sarcastic remarks, suppressed his curiosity, and stared at Chu Jin, saying, "If I hadn't come here, I wouldn't have known that the Qingyang Hundred Bandits I've been investigating for so long were right in front of me."
He placed one hand on the sword at his waist, already assuming an attack stance.
"Take down Xuan Kui's Hundred Bandits and Chu Jin!"
At Duan Fengning's command, the Imperial Guards from both ends of the street and inside and outside the houses drew their swords in unison. The humming of the swords merged into a piercing sword cry that cut through the rain that connected the sky and the earth.
At the eye of the storm, Chu Jin ignited her protective aura, her gaze fiery yet icy cold. She stared at Yu Sui under the eaves, a murderous intent rising in her heart.
What a joke! The one who's going to die in 36th Street today is her, not me!
Two figures, one in black and one in white, landed on either side of Chu Jin, protecting her. The Rakshasa sorcerers of the Nangong Second Division, with their platinum tiger masks, also attacked simultaneously, forming an encirclement and stopping the Imperial Guards from charging towards Chu Jin.
Yu Sui stood under the eaves, on the edge of the storm, and glanced at Chu Jin's location across the crowd.
She had long anticipated that the people from the Nangong Second Division would choose to save Chu Jin.
With a flash of sword light, Chu Jin looked up again, only to find the figure under the eaves gone.
"Don't worry about me, go find her!" Chu Jin shouted angrily at Tang Yingxiu and Tang Yuan. "If Nangong Sui can leave Thirty-Sixth Street alive, then it's your turn to die!"
"Keep the news inside the neighborhood, it absolutely cannot get out!"
She turned to look at where Duan Fengning was: "And don't let the Sixth Prince die either."
Duan Fengning cannot die, but he can be half-dead.
