Chapter 29

Chapter 29

In the misty bathroom, the two looked at each other for a while and laughed at the same time.

Shang Mu said: "You speak first."

Zhou Wangchuan said: "It's nothing, not a big deal."

"Oh, never mind." Shang Mu leaned lazily against the bathtub. "It wasn't anything serious that happened to me."

Zhou Wangchuan scooped up a handful of water with one hand and washed the foam off his shoulders. He flicked his forehead and said with a smile, "You have enough lipstick to hang a small oil bottle, why are you so aggrieved?"

Shang Mu looked at him for a moment, then ignored him and slowly turned over to lie on his stomach. "Give me a massage on your shoulders. They're sore."

When he lay like this, the curve from his shoulders to his waist was clearly visible, like a smooth bow and arrow, full of flexible strength.

Zhou Wangchuan helped him massage his shoulders, his fingertips unconsciously moving down along the spine in the middle of his back, and finally landing on the beautifully curved waist.

"Hello."

Shang Mu glared at him dissatisfiedly: "Watch your hands."

Hearing the harsh tone, Zhou Wangchuan couldn't help but laugh. He pondered for a moment, then said, "There's an urgent surgery. The patient's condition is critical, and the family is very anxious. But there's a problem with the approval process, so we can't schedule it right away."

Shang Mu was very smart and immediately asked, "Is the new director of your department having a problem with you?"

Zhou Wangchuan said, "That's not true. He has his reasons, but the process is definitely stuck with him."

Shang Mu curled his lips: "That means I'm just being mean to you." He turned over and lay down, letting the gentle waves flow over his body.

Zhou Wangchuan was afraid that he would catch a cold, so he took a towel from the rack, held the back of his neck and wiped his wet hair, saying with a smile, "Anyway, I'm trying to think of a solution now."

He asked again, "What about you?"

"Me what?" Shang Mu looked innocent and pretended to sit up. "I'm going to sleep."

Zhou Wangchuan pressed his shoulders and pushed him back, smiling calmly: "Don't play tricks. Tell me, did you encounter anything unhappy today?"

Shang Mu still didn't speak.

Zhou Wangchuan said, "Be good and tell me. Maybe I can help." As he spoke, he gently stroked Shang Mu's ear bone with his wet fingers.

He had often said this in the past, but at that time, the two of them had not yet opened their hearts, and this statement would have seemed condescending and charitable. But now that they understood each other's feelings, these words sounded like infinite tenderness and love to him.

He lowered his voice again and said, "I'm afraid you'll be wronged outside. Tell me, okay?"

"...Hmm." Shang Mu pretended to casually brush his hand away, lowered his head and sank his chin into the water to cover his red earlobes. "The person who can make me suffer injustice has not been born yet."

He paused and continued, "I just ran into an old pervert who was blind and had me tied up and beat up."

Zhou Wangchuan frowned: "Who is it? What's his name?"

"Who knows." Shang Mu said indifferently, "It's a long string of English, I can't remember it."

Zhou Wangchuan said, "What if he causes trouble for you? It would be best if you can recall something. I'll go check it out."

At this point, Shang Mu became unhappy and kicked the water irritably, splashing it. "Do you think I can't handle it myself? Last time, I was able to handle the photographer's matter myself, but you interfered and made me punch cotton. It was so suffocating."

He had been upset about this for most of the day, and his tone was very bad. Even though he knew Zhou Wangchuan was concerned about him, he couldn't help but lose his temper.

"No." Zhou Wangchuan slowed his voice and apologized graciously, "I was wrong."

Apologizing first when indecisive is a very stupid move, but Shang Mu fell for it and waved his hand: "I forgive you."

Shang Mu took the initiative and said, "I have the leverage over him, so he doesn't dare to cause trouble for me secretly. But the Mingzhu Cup Design Competition will be held in half a month. The judges are the design directors of various brands, as well as several special guests. Judges usually vote for designers under their own brands. He is one of the judges, and I'm afraid I won't get his vote."

Zhou Wangchuan knew about this competition. He knew Shang Mu had put a lot of energy into it, staying up all night for half a month to revise the design draft. He even woke up suddenly in the middle of the night for several days, not even bothering to put on shoes, and hurried to the study to write down his inspiration.

Whether or not he can win first place in this competition is related to whether Shang Mu can smoothly transition behind the scenes and become the company's chief designer.

Zhou Wangchuan felt that there was something familiar in this sentence. He frowned and thought for a moment, then asked, "Baby, what did you say the name of the competition was?"

"The Pearl Cup is a jewelry design competition."

Zhou Wangchuan thought about it, his expression gradually relaxed, and he smiled and said, "You will get first place."

Shang Mu rolled his eyes: "How do you know?"

"I believe in your ability." Zhou Wangchuan smoothed his wet hair and, seeing that he could hardly open his eyes, said, "Let's go to bed."

Shang Mu felt sleepy. Soaking in the warm water, he felt even less willing to move. He mumbled, "... soak for a while longer."

In the time it took to say a few words, he gradually closed his eyes.

Zhou Wangchuan gently lifted him up and picked up a towel from the shelf to wipe the water off his body. Just as he was about to carry him back to the room, Shang Mu woke up again, grabbed his wrist, and looked at him with sleepy eyes: "...Hmm."

"Be good, go to sleep." Zhou Wangchuan picked him up and walked out of the bathroom.

Shang Mu woke up for a moment and then fell into a daze again. He leaned on his chest with peace of mind, but still said with all his strength: "If your problem really doesn't work, I can solve it for you."

Zhou Wangchuan tucked him into the warm bed and asked, "How do you solve this?"

"Tsk, what's so difficult about that?" Shang Mu huddled under the quilt, yawning behind his hand. He was so sleepy that his eyes were blurry with tears. He looked incredibly well-behaved, but his words were completely different. "Isn't it enough to just cover his head, drag him to the alley, beat him up, and force him to sign the surgery approval form?"

Zhou Wangchuan: “…”

He said, "Little boy, you were a school bully when you were in school, right?"

Shang Mu snorted coldly: "You are a coward. Any problem that can be solved with fists is not a problem."

Zhou Wangchuan stroked the soft flesh of his cheek with his fingertips and said with a smile, "Hmm."

"Don't believe it?" Shang Mu regained consciousness and looked at him challengingly. "I can beat you into submission right now, do you believe it?"

Zhou Wangchuan's smile remained unchanged: "Of course I believe you. Aren't you sleepy? Be good and go to sleep."

Shang Mu curled up naked in the warm quilt, the delicate, skin-friendly cashmere blanket against his skin, feeling incredibly comfortable. He sighed in enjoyment, his consciousness quickly blurring. Before falling asleep, he managed one last sentence: "Remember, if you can't solve this, ask me for help."

Zhou Wangchuan tucked the quilt in for the sleeping person, gently stroked his fingers over the slightly moist lips, gave a light kiss, and tiptoed out of the bedroom.

After reading the paper in the study for a while, Zhou Wangchuan remembered Shang Mu's "auto cruise" and took the computer back to the bedroom.

Shang Mu looked a little uneasy in his sleep, with his brows furrowed and his thin lips pursed.

Zhou Wangchuan lifted the quilt, lay down next to him, put his arm around his shoulders, leaned over and kissed his lips, and coaxed in his ear: "Go to sleep."

Shang Mu slowly calmed down, his brows relaxed, and he fell into a deep sleep again.

Zhou Wangchuan leaned against the headboard, continuing to browse through medical papers. The only light in the bedroom was a faint, warm yellow glow from the headboard and the gentle tapping of fingers on the touchpad.

Shang Mu slept restlessly, moving around every once in a while. Zhou Wangchuan would hug him and whisper to him. Finally, Shang Mu lay on his side, hugging Zhou Wangchuan's waist, his legs under the quilt pressed against Zhou Wangchuan's legs, his face pressed tightly against the quilt, completely motionless, sleeping peacefully.

When the sky turned white, Zhou Wangchuan rubbed his eyebrows, raised his head from the voluminous papers, and his expression could not hide his excitement.

He found another method that, if verified, would increase the success rate of the surgery by nearly 20%. If the success rate was close to 60%, Xu Yong would not refuse to approve it.

Zhou Wangchuan closed his computer, placed it on the bedside table, turned off the light, and lay down. The person next to him shifted uncomfortably at the change in posture and muttered something vaguely.

Zhou Wangchuan leaned close to his ear and heard him say again: "Xiao Huang... don't hit me..."

"Don't hit what?"

Shang Mu closed his eyes and muttered, "Don't hit...Xiaohong..."

The two birds have been fighting frequently recently, and Xiaohong lost two feathers, which Shang Mu picked up and put in the potted plant.

Zhou Wangchuan said, "We've already stopped the fight, so you can go to sleep peacefully."

Shang Mu really stopped talking in his sleep.

Zhou Wangchuan put his arms around his waist, and the two of them huddled together tightly and soon fell asleep.
