Chapter 15

Chapter 15

He Xi: “…”

Her brain was working fast, thinking about what to say to make the atmosphere less awkward. Just as she was about to speak, Bai Shu's gaze shifted from her face to the pancake in her hand.

"Is this what you're eating for lunch?"

He Xi nodded stiffly, "Well, what's wrong?"

"No wonder you are so thin!" Bai Shu had seen He Xi's data during the last physical test. He was 163 cm tall but weighed only 60 catties. It was impossible not to notice it.

He Xi lowered his head in silence.

She had always considered herself thin, but much better than her previous weight. A visit to the hospital revealed to the doctor that she was actually underweight. If she continued like this, not only would she be constantly ill, but her survival would be in jeopardy.

Of course she wanted to change, and she struggled and tried, but her subconscious mind was constantly fighting with her body's behavior, pulling back and forth. The effect wasn't completely absent, but it was minimal.

"No wonder you are in such poor health!" Bai Shu snorted coldly. He knew it was impolite to judge others without authorization, so he planned to take responsibility for her next.

"Hey, do you want to change?"

He Xi raised her eyes and saw that the boy turned his head away and coughed uncomfortably twice. His eyes drifted here from time to time, but once they met hers, he quickly looked away.

"If you want, I can reluctantly give you some help." Bai Shu knew how hypocritical his words were. Once he put his energy into something, he would always care more than anyone else, but he was also afraid.

He was afraid that he was meddling in other people's business, that the girl wouldn't cherish his sincerity, and that he would become a laughing stock.

"If you don't want to, just ignore what I said."

He Xi used a little force to hold the cake in her hands. She knew that Bai Shu might just be talking on a whim, but even so, she didn't want to miss this opportunity.

He Xi closed his eyes: "How do you want me to repay you?"

This was an unexpected answer for Bai Shu. He had thought she would refuse. But He Xi always seemed to be able to surprise people.

"Who wants you to repay me?" He did it willingly, okay?

He Xi lowered his head and stopped talking.

From this angle, Bai Shu could only see the girl's slightly flushed cheeks and the tips of her ears which were completely red.

He stared at the strand of hair that was covering her earlobe. It was an eyesore no matter how he looked at it. He moved his fingers hanging on one side.

But he forced himself to look away.

He Xi didn't say anything, but Bai Shu already knew what she meant. Then he could rest assured and give the initiative to her. "Starting tomorrow."

He Xi's eyes lit up, and Bai Shu raised a faint smile, "That's it."

"We have to balance training and academic studies. I'm usually very busy and can't spare much time for you."

"During breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I have plenty of time. I can monitor your diet and encourage you to do some exercise within your ability."

“Don’t rush to achieve the desired results at the beginning. It’s good enough if you can stick to it.”

"These are some of my rough ideas. Do you have any opinions? We can discuss it together."

He Xi: "No." He had considered it very carefully.

Bai Shu: "Okay. For afternoon training, I might be at the playground or the gym. It usually depends on the weather, but there are special circumstances."

"I'll give you a copy of my dormitory's usual training schedule later. I'll try to tell you in advance in the future."

"If I forget, come to these two places to find me." Bai Shu stared into He Xi's eyes, as if afraid that she would forget his words.

-

Before going to bed that night, He Xi took out the handwritten training schedule given to him by Bai Shu from his schoolbag.

She heard Wei Mo say to Bai Shu, "We already have this printed, why bother writing it by hand?"

Bai Shu paused in his writing and said, "The printed version isn't as easy to read as my summary."

He Xi gently spread the thin paper in his hand on the table. Under the night light, the color of the paper was light beige. The handwriting on it was fierce, yet powerful, and lined up in rows.

You can tell it’s Bai Shu’s style at first glance.

If you look closely, you can see that the horizontal strokes are heavily dotted and the vertical strokes are very long, all connected in one stroke without any drag.

On a quiet night, He Xi felt a little uneasy.

She remembered the last class this afternoon. He Xi had planned to look for Bai Shu as usual, but ran into him at the corner of the corridor.

The boy's hair was half dry, and his skin was slightly steamed. When the two of them got closer, the faint scent of lime on his body made He Xi wrinkle his nose and sniff more. Turning his head, he saw that it was indeed Bai Shu.

"Let's go to the cafeteria to eat." A very natural and friendly tone.

The two walked side by side, making their way through waves of students.

Bai Shu was very tall, probably over 1.80 meters. He Xi was about as tall as his upper arm, and most of the time his voice echoed above her head, and when he spoke to her, he would lower his head to look into her eyes.

If you lower your eyebrows, your whole body will exude an invisible oppressiveness.

He Xi was not used to walking with Bai Shu, she was used to following behind him.

Her heartbeat became uncontrollable, and she naturally became nervous. When she was nervous, it was fine if she didn't realize it, but once she realized it, she would definitely talk more to relieve it, and she would say the words that came to her mind in her dream.

He Xi: "How was training today?"

Bai Shu: "Very tired."

He Xi: "Thank you for your hard work."

Bai Shu: "It's not hard work, it's a hard life."

He Xi: “…” She should change the subject.

He Xi: "Haha, do you still remember the joke that our English teacher told us in class? Who is closer to you, your mom or your dad? At first everyone thought she was really asking, but in the end she said, 'Mom is close, because dad is father.' I laughed to death when I realized it, hahaha. Isn't it still funny when you think about it now?" Looking forward to Bai Shu's reaction.

Bai Shu: "Really? I didn't understand."

He Xi: “…” I forgot that he is not good at English.

Bai Shu: "But I understand what you said."

He Xi: "..." She changed the subject.

He Xi looked left, right, down, and up. Just as he was about to point to the sky and express himself freely again, he heard Bai Shu's soft, muffled laugh. "Okay, let's go eat first."

He Xi turned her head suspiciously, only to see Bai Shu holding his fists under his nose and trying hard to suppress his laughter. When he met her eyes, he simply stopped pretending.

He tilted his neck back and let the smile vibrate in his chest.

Her eyelashes were curved into a crescent, her eyes were bright, and her mouth was grinning, revealing a row of white and neat teeth. She was smiling so happily.

It calmed down the inexplicable restlessness in He Xi's heart.

Window for picking up your own dishes.

This time, He Xi stood behind Bai Shu with confidence.

Bai Shu, however, switched places with her.

"Let me see what you cook later."

He Xi looked up and met the smiling eyes of the uncle serving food.

He Xi handed the plate over and randomly pointed at two dishes: stir-fried broccoli and salt and pepper potato slices.

Bai Shu said nothing. He sat opposite He Xi and silently picked up a chicken leg from the plate and put it on He Xi's plate. "I haven't touched it yet."

After thinking for a moment, he said, "The chopsticks are clean too."

Then he told He Xi, "A proper meal must contain at least carbohydrates, protein, and dietary fiber. The nutritional elements of your lunch meal were not up to standard, and neither was your afternoon meal."

He Xi knew this: "But sometimes I just want to perfunctorily deal with it."

Bai Shu put down the chicken leg that he was about to stuff into his mouth and said, "You can't do this under my nose."

The slightly playful tone was intentional on his part.

He Xi knew that he was being deliberately gentle and funny.

He Xi silently took a bite of the chicken leg and glanced at Bai Shu's plate. After eating with Bai Shu for so long, she knew that there were usually two meat dishes on his plate, sometimes two chicken legs from the cafeteria, and sometimes two pieces of packaged beef he brought with him.

The canteen's chicken legs are limited to two per student meal card, but today he gave her one of the chicken legs on his plate.

Nor did he remind her when she was serving food, "Why don't you give her an extra chicken drumstick?" and then blah blah...

She knew that his eating habits were not very good, but from today on, she would try to change them.

He Xi lowered his head and ate the rice in the bowl carefully.

Bai Shu suddenly said, "Why don't you watch it again?"

"He Xi, am I losing my appetite?"

"What are you laughing at? Look up and give me some confidence."

He Xi could feel the mischievous smile in the boy's eyes without even looking up.

-

He Xi placed his breakfast on the table: a vegetable bun and a box of cherry tomatoes.

He looked up at Bai Shu and said: How about it, did you pass now?

Bai Shu placed a carton of milk on her desk, "Plus a carton of this."

He Xi shook his head. "I don't like pure milk. It has no taste. Yogurt is okay."

Bai Shu glanced at the boiled egg in his hand and placed it on He Xi's desk along with the bag. "Then you eat this."

He Xi: "Oh."

Bai Shu put the straw into the milk carton and took a sip. "Is that how you want to eat it?"

He Xi took a bite of the bun and asked vaguely, "What else?" She had always eaten like this.

Bai Shu tilted his head: "Let's go out for a walk."

She didn't exercise enough. She'd skipped morning exercises from the beginning, and after she fainted in class last time, the PE teacher tacitly allowed her to attend. But high school was already stressful, and she was a serious student, so how could she sit still?

Seven parts diet and three parts exercise, and just walking around is also good.

He Xi was still a little hesitant, and Bai Shu urged him with a smile, "Hurry up. I rarely have time today. If I miss this village, I won't be able to have this shop anymore."

"It's up to you whether you want to go or not." He turned his head and started the tsundere mode.

He Xi: "Go. Go, go, go."

He stood up and followed Bai Shu out of the classroom.

Bai Shuren was tall and long-legged, and he walked very fast. Last time, he had deliberately matched He Xi's pace, but this time, perhaps having just finished morning training, he was a little excited and excited, and unconsciously walked more happily.

No more. He Xi sighed and looked up. Bai Shu had already left her a long way behind.

Bai Shu turned his head and sideways, only then did he locate He Xi's figure from a distance. One hand lazily shoved into his pocket, the other holding a glass of milk with a straw in his mouth. He smiled at the girl not far away and said, "Hurry up."

There was a tenderness in his expression that even he himself had not noticed.
