Ning Yuge had just logged off the psychic network, removed his psychic headband, and breathed a sigh of relief. The headband's residual warmth still lingered on his forehead, and he rubbed his temple, his face unconcealed with pride. "I've had some good luck today, earning quite a few spare parts. These should be enough to exchange for a few mid-grade spirit stones. Next time, I'll team up with Zero to secure a big deal, and make a name for myself in the spirit realm battlefield."
He casually grabbed the spiritual fruit on the table and was about to take a bite when he was startled by the sudden sound of a spiritual bell outside. Ning Yuge frowned and looked up, his spiritual sense instantly reaching out, muttering, "Who would come to see me so early in the morning? Could it be that troublemaker Ling Ruoxi again? Last time, she ate for free and took away a bag of my spiritual rice!"
However, the aura that his spiritual consciousness fed back froze him, and a thin layer of sweat instantly broke out on his forehead. The spiritual energy fluctuations outside the door clearly indicated that the visitor was Shen Qingwan.
"Senior Sister Shen?!" Ning Yuge's heart skipped a beat. Reflexively, he grabbed the spirit mirror on the table and looked in it again and again. He stared wide-eyed at his face to check for any residual spirit juice, while quickly straightening his clothes, which only made them even more tangled. Finally, he frantically tugged at the collar of his clothes and rushed to the cave entrance.
He took a deep breath, trying to appear calm and composed. However, the moment he opened the door, his disguised composure completely crumbled. Shen Qingwan stood outside, wearing a light blue dress, aura swirling around her. The hem of her skirt swayed in the breeze, like a dancing cloud. She wore a tranquil smile, as gentle as the early spring sun.
"Junior Brother Ning, sorry to bother you." Shen Qingwan's voice was like a clear spring, slowly flowing into Ning Yuge's ears, making him feel like his brain turned into a paste in an instant.
"Senior Sister, why would you bother me! Please come in! Please come in!" Ning Yuge spoke quickly, and hurriedly moved aside, but he stumbled and almost fell. He grinned awkwardly, trying to hide his embarrassment with a smile.
Just then, a burst of inappropriate laughter came from the woods in the distance.
"Hey, Senior Brother Ning, when will it be Senior Sister Shen's turn to come and visit in person?" There was a hint of teasing in the crisp voice.
Ning Yuge glanced sideways and saw, indeed, Ling Ruoxi and Luo Tiangang, two lively figures, wandering towards them from the woods. Ling Ruoxi crossed her arms, a look of mockery on her face, and a look of undisguised ridicule: "Senior Sister Shen has come personally, isn't your cave a little more festive?"
Luo Tiangang couldn't help but add: "Senior Sister Shen is so gentle and kind. She must be looking for you today for an important mission sent by the sect! Junior Brother Ning, are you going to be rich?"
Ning Yuge's face flushed instantly, and his ears felt like they were burning. He waved his hand at the two of them and shouted, "Shut up, both of you! You don't have the right to talk here!"
Ling Ruoxi didn't care about his embarrassment at all. She stared at Shen Qingwan and said meaningfully, "Tsk tsk, Senior Brother Ning, you are usually very low-key, but you really have some tricks up your sleeve at the critical moment."
"Stop messing around and go inside to talk." Shen Qingwan smiled faintly, ignoring the two people's teasing. Her tone was like a gentle breeze and drizzle, instantly extinguishing most of Ling Ruoxi's "firepower".
Ning Yuge suppressed his embarrassment and quickly made a "please" gesture: "Senior Sister, please come in! Although my cave is simple, it is definitely much quieter than outside." He turned around and glared at Ling Ruoxi and Luo Tiangang fiercely, warning them with his eyes: "Don't go too far!"
"Don't worry, we won't disturb your 'business'." Ling Ruoxi waved her hand, turned around and whispered to Luo Tiangang: "Should we go buy some spiritual rice and come back for a meal?"
Luo Tiangang smiled innocently: "It can be considered. Junior Brother Ning is usually willing to spend money on spiritual rice anyway."
Ning Yuge felt a headache when he heard their muttering. He slammed the door shut, isolating these clowns from outside, and turned back to Shen Qingwan, forcing a stiff smile: "Don't mind, Senior Sister, that's just their temper."
Shen Qingwan chuckled and shook her head: "It doesn't matter, they are very interesting."
Ning Yuge was stunned for a moment, feeling his face begin to heat up again. He tried to regulate his breathing, trying to appear less reserved, but he couldn't help but complain in his heart: "If these people dare to make jokes again, I'll tear all their mechas apart!"
The atmosphere in Ning Yuge's cave was extremely tense. Shen Qingwan sat upright in the guest seat, her hands folded on her knees, her eyes gentle yet somewhat serious. Ning Yuge, like a primary school student preparing for an exam, straightened his back and looked completely focused.
"Junior Brother Ning, I came here this time because of a very important matter and I need your help." Shen Qingwan spoke, her voice as soft as the spring breeze, but the solemnity in her tone made Ning Yuge's heart tremble suddenly.
"Sister, just say it!" Ning Yuge immediately straightened her chest and said in a resounding tone, "As long as it is something I can do, I will spare no effort!"
Shen Qingwan nodded slightly, her voice soft with a sigh, "The Five Sects' Psychic Competition League is about to begin, and the Psychic Charge Battle is one of the most anticipated events. Junior Brother, you should have heard of it, right?"
"Of course!" Ning Yuge's eyes lit up instantly, his tone filled with suppressed excitement. "The Psychic Charge Battle is the ace event of the Five Sects Competition! This is not just a competition, it's a symbol of the sect's strength!"
Shen Qingwan wore a faint wry smile and continued, "Precisely because of this, this match is extremely important to our sect. But..." She changed the subject and sighed, "The current state of the team is not optimistic."
"How could that be?" Ning Yuge frowned. "Aren't the disciples selected by the sect the most elite ones?"
Shen Qingwan shook her head and lowered her voice a few notches. "Their strength is indeed not bad, but... there is a big problem with their attitude. They lack a sense of competition, and some even think that winning or losing is unimportant. This state of mind greatly reduces the effectiveness of the training."
