The battlefield in the Chaos Realm remained the familiar, dilapidated scene, piled with debris and thick with smoke. Hakuzo piloted his mech through the ruins, a fleet of pursuing mechs closing in on him. Psionic beams pierced the air, glancing past his mech's shields. Alarms blared on the screen, piercing him so much that he frowned.
"What the hell! Why are you targeting me?" Bai Zang cursed the relentless pursuers as he maneuvered his mecha like a snake. His psychic shield's value was rapidly decreasing, approaching critical point. He knew he had little room for maneuver.
At that moment, a series of new signals flashed across his radar screen. He subconsciously looked up and saw a new group of mechas suddenly emerge from the dust in the distance. The mecha leading the group clearly belonged to Zero's team.
"Zero?" Bai Zang's heart sank, and he cursed his bad luck. "Oh my god, has today's trial mode reached hellish level?" He quickly glanced at his spirit stone balance, and the corner of his mouth twitched. "Is it enough to repair the mecha? I'm afraid it depends on God's favor."
Just as he was thinking about which route near the resurrection point would be easier to escape, an unexpected scene happened.
Instead of firing on him, Team Zero charged directly at his pursuers!
The Shadow Killer's mech transformed into a psychic flash of light, crashing head-on into the pursuing group. He deftly glided the mech, its psychic turrets precisely locking onto the core of a player's mech, which exploded with a bang. His signature arrogant laugh echoed over the communication channel: "Hunting down Gu Masters? These idiots probably don't even recognize who we are!"
In the light of the psychic explosion, the Shadow Killer's voice was so loud that people couldn't help but wonder if he was deliberately trying to piss everyone off to death.
"All of you, be quiet." Yu Yu Jian Jia's mech flew past the Shadow Killer, its psychic missiles whistling away with sharp, air-piercing sounds, exploding in succession among the enemy formations, instantly forcing the two mechs to retreat. Before the explosions on the screen had completely dissipated, Yu Yu Jian Jia's mech glided and dived, its psychic blade piercing the armor of one of the pursuing mechs with a cold flash, nearly severing it in half.
"What a bunch of trash." You Yu Jianjia said lightly, with a bit of contempt in his tone.
At the same time, high above, Sky Sword Armor Ling Ruoxi activated her spiritual consciousness, sending dozens of flying swords hovering in front of her, their blades shimmering with subtle psychic energy fluctuations. With a flick of her hand, the flying swords rained down from the sky, each one precisely piercing the pursuer's mecha shield, forcing them back step by step.
Ling Ruoxi's voice came from the communication channel, with a hint of helpless ridicule in her tone: "Cousin, don't be too aggressive, be careful not to send your teammates away together."
Shadow Killer manipulated the mech to swing open and close, blasting away psychic beams. He laughed heartily, "Don't worry! I've got it under control just right. I won't cause any casualties!"
Before he could finish his words, his psychic beam whizzed past You Yu Jian Jia's shoulder, nearly slicing a hole in his armor. You Yu Jian Jia roared in anger over the channel, "Shadow Killer! You are the most unreliable teammate I've ever met!"
"This is called precise operation!" The Shadow Killer looked very proud, completely ignoring Ling Ruoxi's helpless sigh and Youyu Sword Armor's roar.
On the other side of the battlefield, the Xuanwu Guard's mecha stood like a moving wall, firmly blocking Bai Zang's way. He activated his psychic shield, blocking the incoming attacks from all directions. Sparks from the explosions splattered across the protective screen. The Xuanwu Guard's voice was deep and steady: "Stop talking nonsense and move on. We can't hold out for much longer."
Zero's mech stopped silently in the center of the battlefield, a stark contrast to the others' swift movements. He didn't fire any beams or missiles, but instead connected his consciousness directly to the psychic network. Rune chains on the screen surged like flowing water. A few seconds later, the psychic cores of several pursuit mechs simultaneously shut down, leaving them frozen in place like a pile of scrap metal.
Zero said coldly: "Time is limited, prepare to retreat."
"The wind is strong, hurry up! Run!" The Shadow Killer excitedly crashed into the enemy formation, knocked over an enemy plane that tried to intercept, and turned around and ran away.
Bai Zang was stunned for a moment, watching all this in amazement. He had never thought that he would be protected by this "fearsome" Team Zero, and he had never expected that they would fight so hard to help him get away.
"These guys... are actually helping me?" he muttered, his tone full of disbelief.
But his daze lasted only a few seconds. He quickly reacted, controlling the mecha to activate the psychic engine and flew at top speed into the depths of the chaotic area. Ling Ruoxi's cold voice came to his ears: "Don't be distracted, seize the opportunity to evacuate."
Bai Zang glanced at the increasingly chaotic pursuers and was startled. He saw the pursuing mechas constantly fighting each other under the interference of Team Zero. The Shadow Killer mechas nimbly shuttled through the enemy formation, occasionally ramming into the enemy mechas, making them stagger like drunken mechas.
"Stop fighting! The enemy is running away over there!" one of the pursuers roared angrily.
"Who can you blame for running away? Aren't you just a drag?" The other one immediately fought back, and the two sides started arguing without any mercy.
Ling Ruoxi controlled the Sky Sword Armor and soared through the sky, her spiritual consciousness urging dozens of flying swords to descend from the sky, precisely blocking the enemy's retreat. The smoke raised by the rain of swords obscured vision, buying the team more time.
"Let's go," Zero said briefly. The moment his mech powered up, his psychic shield activated, protecting the entire team. He didn't even glance at the pursuers, his expression as calm as if nothing was worth wasting.
Bai Zang followed closely behind them, his emotions mixed with complexities that were difficult to describe. He had originally thought that he was just a scavenger surviving in the Chaos Region, and no one would care whether he lived or died, but this group of people unexpectedly gave him a glimmer of hope.
The pursuers were still blaming each other in the chaos. By the time they realized something was wrong, Bai Zang and Team Zero had already disappeared in the smoke-filled battlefield.
