In the maintenance workshop on the ground floor of Qixing Company, the roar of machinery was incessant, sparks flew, and various mecha parts were piled up like mountains. Xiang Fan, wearing goggles, half-crouched beside an old mecha, carefully using his spiritual power to detect the extent of damage to a psychic energy transmission line.
"Xiang Fan, be careful, don't increase the intensity of the psychic burning. This part is very delicate." Engineer Hong stood by with a psychic measuring instrument in his hand. While instructing Xiang Fan, he personally checked the engine of another mecha.
"Got it, Engineer Hong." Xiang Fan's forehead was covered with sweat, but there was a hint of a smile on his lips. His movements were slow but steady.
Engineer Hong nodded with satisfaction. "Not bad, you've made progress since you first arrived. Young man, study hard. These things are more useful than those immortal cultivation theory books you have."
Xiang Fan chuckled and continued to focus on the task at hand. His fingertips moved between the parts, occasionally using his weak spiritual power to detect tiny cracks, his eyes revealing concentration and satisfaction.
Suddenly, a quarrel was heard from the middle-level maintenance workshop next door. The sound was so loud that even the buzzing sound of the vibrating tools could not be drowned out.
"The loss of this circuit can't be that high! According to the blueprint, its psychic energy output efficiency should be at least 90%!"
"But the problem is, the experimental data doesn't match the theory at all. This psychic core is only 70% efficient now! This is a disaster!"
"How about we add another spiritual energy circuit and try it? Using spiritual energy to stack might be able to reduce the loss!"
"Add more? I've already added three! You want more? Do you think psychic circuits are free?"
The engineers all held their own opinions and no one could convince anyone else. The atmosphere in the laboratory was so tense that it seemed like it would explode at any time.
As Xiang Fan passed by, he subconsciously glanced at the psychic core engine. He frowned and muttered, "This circuit...it's obviously useless, why do we have to connect it? Isn't it redundant?"
He scanned the intricate psychic circuits and discovered that some parts of the circuits seemed to have been artificially spliced together, increasing energy loss. He couldn't help but mentally simulate the adjustment plan, believing that by changing just one key path, the operating efficiency of the entire core could be greatly improved.
Just as he was lost in thought, one of the foundation-building engineers looked up and saw him, waving his hand impatiently: "Hey, over there! What are you, a repairman in the Qi training stage, doing here? Is this the place for you?"
Xiang Fan quickly took two steps back and apologized, "Sorry, I was just passing by."
The engineer rolled his eyes and said in a more rude tone: "Go back to where you should be and don't delay us from solving the problem."
"Yes, yes." Xiang Fan nodded and bowed, then stepped aside obediently. However, his mind was still recalling the engine structure he had just seen, and his brows were slightly furrowed.
He could sense that the problem wasn't with the design of the psychic transmission system, but rather a fundamental error in the logic of the circuit itself. The engineers were so busy adding new circuits that they hadn't noticed that what they really needed to do was reduce unnecessary energy loss.
"If we just cut off that useless circuit, there shouldn't be such a high loss, right?" Xiang Fan muttered to himself, thinking with his head down.
Unfortunately, he was just a low-level maintenance worker and was not even qualified to get close to the engine, let alone express his opinions.
He sighed helplessly, shrugged, and turned back to his work, but he still couldn't help but think about the problem with the engine.
After returning to the workshop, Xiang Fan told Engineer Hong what he had just witnessed in the mid-level maintenance area. Engineer Hong put down the parts in his hand, smiled and shook his head. He spoke slowly, his pipe between his lips, "Boy, you're new here, and you don't understand the way these Foundation Establishment and Golden Core cultivators think. They always think that high cultivation level means high skills, but in fact, cultivation level doesn't equal practical ability."
"You mean... those engineers may not have found the root cause of the problem?" Xiang Fan asked doubtfully.
Engineer Hong knocked on the table with his tool, his tone tinged with disdain. "You've seen it too. They keep adding circuits to the psychic core, thinking that this will increase output efficiency. But in fact, the more complex the circuits, the greater the loss of psychic energy. You're right. That extra circuit is not only useless, but also a burden."
Xiang Fan frowned, thought carefully and said, "Then why don't they change it?"
Engineer Hong sighed and said slowly, "Who knows? It might be pride. Those people always think they are the smartest people in the company and are unwilling to admit to making such a low-level mistake. Besides, they are using experimental materials provided by the company. A few failures won't cause any serious consequences, just a waste of resources."
Xiang Fan nodded thoughtfully: "If we remove that redundant circuit directly, will it increase the efficiency of the psychic core?"
Engineer Hong laughed out loud: "Of course I will. But low-level repairmen like us are not qualified to touch such high-end products. Even if you can solve the problem, they won't let you interfere."
Xiang Fan lowered his head in disappointment: "Won't that just mean they'll continue arguing?"
Engineer Hong patted him on the shoulder and said earnestly, "Don't lose heart, kid. We can't control this kind of thing, but the fact that you can spot the problem shows that you have a keen eye and a sharp mind. As long as you keep working hard, one day you will be able to stand in the position of those engineers, or even surpass them."
Xiang Fan's blood boiled after hearing this. He clenched his fists and nodded, saying, "Thank you, Engineer Hong! I'll do my best!"
