In the virtual hall of the Spirit Realm battlefield, Shadow Killer (Ning Yuge) crossed his legs and lazily leaned back in a virtual chair, a snack bar dangling from his lips, a smug smile playing. He flipped through his battle records and declared in an exaggerated voice, "Perfect! This is the art of operation!"
On the screen, a string of glittering statistics came into view—zero deaths, twenty kills, first place in the overall ratings, and even two spectacular kill streaks automatically recorded as highlights by the system. Ning Yuge rubbed his chin with satisfaction, muttering narcissistically, "Ah, there's nothing I can do about it. Geniuses are lonely."
The Black Tortoise Guard (Luo Tiangang) sat to the side, not even bothering to look up, concentrating on adjusting the parameters of his mecha. He casually complained, "Don't be so ungrateful. Your opponents are all useless Golden Core rookies. What's there to brag about if you win?"
Ning Yuge immediately quit, jumping up from the virtual chair, pointing at Luo Tiangang and loudly retorting: "Old Luo, I'm not saying anything bad about you, but a rookie is still an opponent. Being able to fight through a group of rookies is a real skill! What does this prove? This proves that my skills have surpassed the dimension of my opponent!"
"Right, right, right. You're killing someone with a different dimension." Ling Ruochen's voice interrupted from the team channel, his tone full of ridicule. "I suggest you challenge a true master and see if your 'dimension' can still hold its own."
Ning Yuge patted his chest and said proudly, "Tsk, what's so difficult about playing in the King's Division? How about this, Lao Luo, you go play a solo match. If you can get a similar result to mine, I'll call you Dad three times!"
Luo Tiangang glanced at him and said lazily, "Forget about three times. It sounds scary. But it's a good motivation to make you shut up."
Luo Tiangang entered the matchmaking and was quickly assigned to a team composed entirely of strangers. He took a look at his teammates' performance and almost burst out laughing.
One newbie played lousy the entire time, not even setting up their mech's skills properly. A guy operating a long-range turret directly posted in the team channel: "I'm a newbie, come on everyone!" Another was even more outrageous, rushing towards the enemy excitedly upon entering the arena, shouting: "Brothers, don't be scared, follow me!"
"This game is over." Luo Tiangang held his forehead with one hand and took a deep breath.
However, as the team's most stable "Black Tortoise Shield," Luo Tiangang wasn't one to give in easily. He adjusted his mecha configuration and slowly said, "Forget it. Since the system has assigned these idiots, I'll be their father."
When the battle started, the teammates were still in a mess. One rushed to the left, one ran to the right, and another stayed at the back fiddling with equipment, as if he was just shopping on the battlefield.
Luo Tiangang, like an impenetrable fortress, stood alone in the center of the battlefield. His mecha's massive shield swept across, blocking enemy fire, and his precise counterattacks gradually disintegrated the enemy's formation. The enemy tried to surround him, but each attack was neutralized by his defense, and they were defeated one by one.
The further the battle went on, the more anxious the enemy became. They realized that the steady basalt mecha in front of them was not something they could easily shake.
Ten minutes later, the battle ended and the system settlement page popped up. Luo Tiangang alone took 70% of the team's damage, and the number of kills doubled. His record was even more exaggerated than Ning Yuge's just now.
"Noobs, thank me." Luo Tiangang said proudly in the team channel, and took a screenshot of the battle record and sent it directly to Ning Yuge.
Ning Yuge was so angry after seeing the screenshot that she almost bit off the snack bar: "Damn, Lao Luo, you are mocking me, right?"
"Yes, I'm just mocking you." Luo Tiangang replied calmly.
Ning Yuge snorted in dissatisfaction and immediately shouted, "Alright, wait! I'm going to play the King's game now and I must win it back!"
"You'd better not go." Ling Ruoxi interrupted leisurely, her tone lazy but with a hint of sarcasm, "If you really go to the King's League, I'm afraid you'll become a stat contributor on the battlefield within three minutes."
"What a joke!" Ning Yuge stood up suddenly, patted his chest and said, "I want to show you the true strength of the Shadow Killer!"
Five minutes later, Ning Yuge was matched up in a King of Champions match. His opponents were all veterans, nearly all of them with over a thousand battles under their belts. As soon as his mech entered the arena, it was locked onto by an enemy reconnaissance mech. The ensuing round of concentrated fire left him no time to react before his mech was reduced to a ball of flames.
"Kill prompt: Shadow Killer has been terminated."
The laughter of Luo Tiangang, Ling Ruoxi, Ling Ruochen and the Gu Master immediately rang out in the team channel.
“Hahahahahahahahahaha!”
"Ouch, it's no use, Boss! The Shadow Killer was killed the moment he entered the arena!"
Ning Yuge's face flushed red, and he covered his forehead and sighed: "...Can I pretend that the internet is disconnected?"
Ling Ruoxi laughed so hard that tears almost came out: "Stop pretending, admit defeat, rookie."
Luo Tiangang pretended to be thoughtful and said, "What did you say just now? Killing through a bunch of rookies is a skill?"
Ning Yuge covered her face: "Alright, stop talking, I want to be quiet..."
Ling Ruochen patted his shoulder, suppressed a smile and consoled him, "Don't be discouraged, Master Shadow Killer. At least you made a wonderful entrance, even if it only lasted three seconds."
Ning Yuge's mouth twitched twice, and he stood up suddenly, shouting indignantly: "No! Another round! I want to prove myself!"
Luo Tiangang asked leisurely: "Are you sure?"
Ning Yuge looked at the previous battle record and gritted his teeth: "...Forget it, I'll go find someone of lower rank to bully."
