Chapter 99 Fatigue and Persistence

Xiang Fan studied hard for three consecutive days. His eyes were bloodshot and his hair was messy as if it had been blown by a strong wind.

His desk had completely lost its original appearance, piled with papers and notes filled with formulas, and even the corners were occupied by crumpled draft papers.

He rubbed his temples while staring at the string of formulas on the screen, and couldn't help but grumble under his breath, "Isn't this book written for geniuses? If ordinary people read this, their brains will explode."

In order to relieve his fatigue, he stood up and poured a glass of water, but almost fell back into the chair. His legs were numb as if millions of ants were crawling on them.

He gritted his teeth, holding onto the table, and muttered to himself, "If this knowledge can save me a few hairs, I won't be called Xiang Fan!"

But just as he finished speaking, he saw a few strands of hair on his head that had fallen out prematurely in the mirror, and he instantly lost his temper.

When it was late at night and everyone was asleep, he looked out the window. The bright moon hung alone in the sky, and the faint light shone through the window onto his notes, making him look particularly peaceful.

But his heart was boiling like boiling water: "If I can't even learn these theories, why should I let Senior 496 continue to guide me?"

Thinking he might become a discarded "useless student," he shuddered and quickly turned the page again. "I can't let my seniors down! I must learn it, even if it means burning all my brain cells!"

Finally, he found a neglected little formula in the chapter on advanced psionic cycles.

A flash of inspiration struck him, and he connected this with the content of the previous chapters, unexpectedly deducing a completely new design for psychic energy optimization circuits. He hurriedly climbed into the mecha cockpit, quickly adjusted the circuits, and started testing.

When the message "Psychic efficiency increased by 5%" appeared on the mecha screen, he was so excited that he slapped the console directly, and his hand was almost numbed by the hard panel.

He waved his fists despite the pain, shouting, "I did it! I actually did it! This couldn't be a dream!" Then he covered his hands, grimaced, and jumped a few times, "This console definitely has aggro value..."

This small achievement made Xiang Fan very excited. He quickly wrote this experience down in his notebook and wrote a few big words on the cover of the notebook: "Today, I, Xiang Fan, did it!"

After finishing writing, he added: "One day, I will finish reading this book and prove once and for all that I am not stupid."

During the team meeting the next day, Shadow Killer came up to Xiang Fan and patted his shoulder with admiration. "Boss, have you been secretly receiving any alien signals recently? The amount of knowledge in your head is almost catching up with the server!"

The Xuanwu guard naively agreed, "Indeed, those technical terms that Boss is talking about now make me dizzy. It feels even more difficult than practicing the mental method."

He paused, then said seriously: "But I have to say, it's really amazing."

Ling Ruoxi smiled meaningfully: "Since the boss is so powerful, why don't we verify it and let everyone see the power of the mecha theory?"

When Xiang Fan heard this, the smile on his face froze in an instant.

He scratched his head and muttered softly, "Verification? I can try, but... don't get your hopes up." Just as he finished speaking, Ling Ruoxi had already made the final decision: "That's it!"

After the simulation mission began, Xiang Fan attempted to apply his theory of psychic energy optimization to the team's mecha. His modifications reduced the mecha's psychic energy consumption by a full 20%, boosting the team's operational efficiency by several notches. After the mission, everyone was amazed.

Ling Ruoxi sighed as she operated, "I didn't expect those heavenly book theories to be so useful! Zero, I'm really impressed this time."

Shadow Killer jokingly said in the communication channel, "Boss, besides your skill in operation, your theoretical knowledge is also so advanced? If I had known you were so capable, I should have clung to you sooner!"

Xiang Fan blushed upon hearing this and faltered in his explanation, "Actually... I just tried it according to the method in the book, and I didn't expect it to work. It's not really my specialty, it's mainly because the book is good."

As soon as he finished speaking, Shadow Killer couldn't help but tease, "Boss, don't be so modest now! We're going to rely on you, the 'Mecha Encyclopedia', for support from now on!"

Xiang Fan smiled shyly, glanced down at his hands, then at the anticipation on his team members' faces. He thought to himself, "Can the theories in books really change everything? Perhaps I need to continue to verify them through action."

Xiang Fan was immersed in studying a new book, completely lost in the pages and formulas. Suddenly, the screen flashed and a familiar avatar appeared in the virtual communication interface.

He was caught off guard and was startled, and the pen in his hand fell to the ground.

"Are you ready?" 496's voice was deep and full of authority, "Let me see the results of your study."

Xiang Fan hurriedly picked up the pen, his tone full of nervousness: "Senior, are you going to...test me?"

"Testing you?" 496's voice was tinged with a hint of laughter. "It's just a small test. Just do your best."

"A small test?" Xiang Fan stared at the screen, thinking it couldn't be that simple.

Sure enough, a ridiculously complicated test paper popped up on the virtual interface, covering almost all the content he had learned recently, from energy core optimization to mecha psychic circuit design, and even network encryption and decoding.

Xiang Fan stared at the first question, his head buzzing. This question seemed simple, but it was full of hidden dangers. The person who set the question was completely aiming to twist the students' thinking.

He couldn't help but mutter, "Where in the book is this directly taught? This is clearly a word problem!"

He gritted his teeth and began to answer. The contents of the book seemed to be squeezed into juice and quickly passed through his mind.
