Mother Yan sighed helplessly.
"All I want is a grandson, or even a granddaughter, why is it so difficult?"
When Yan's father learned that his wife was going through menopause and was very irritable, he gently pulled her into his arms.
"Okay, stop overthinking it."
Mother Yan shook her head. "You have no idea how bored I am at home every day. When you and Ya Ru go to work, I'm all alone in this huge house, with only the nanny around. I feel so lonely. You have no idea what that feeling is. I don't even know what my purpose is anymore."
After hearing his wife's grumbling, Yan's father felt a pang of pain and hugged her tightly.
"I'm sorry, it was all my oversight."
Father Yan gently kissed Mother Yan's forehead. When he looked at the person in his arms, he found that his wife had fallen asleep, and he smiled helplessly.
Two weeks later, Yan's mother was strolling around a shopping mall when she unknowingly arrived at a jewelry store. She looked up at the store's name and interior decoration, then stepped inside.
A pretty little girl caught her attention.
"Mom, you'll look really good in that butterfly hair clip."
Shen Shiyi looked up and saw a butterfly hair clip studded with small silver diamonds. She felt a headache coming on.
"Niannian, that's not suitable for Mommy." Such a big hair clip is too conspicuous; she doesn't want to be a conspicuous bag.
Upon hearing this, Gu Niansi lowered her head in disappointment.
Seeing her expression, Shen Zhifan shook his head helplessly.
"If you had just chosen something simpler for Mom, she might have accepted it." His sister is so adorably naive.
Yan's mother walked in and kept looking at the three of them, including the mother and her children. Gu Niansi looked up and glanced at her unintentionally.
"That grandma is so strange, why is she staring at us?"
Upon hearing this, Shen Zhifan immediately turned his head and met Yan's mother's gaze. He felt that the other person looked somewhat familiar.
He seemed familiar.
Upon hearing her daughter's words, Shen Shiyi turned around and looked up, meeting the gaze of Yan's mother who was walking over.
"Hello, your child is so cute." She wished she had such adorable grandchildren.
Shen Shiyi did not sense any danger and nodded politely to her.
"Thanks."
Gu Niansi looked up at Yan's mother.
"Beautiful grandma, you're very pretty too."
Feeling embarrassed by the praise, Yan's mother looked up and stroked her hair to hide her discomfort.
"Oh my, little one, you speak so sweetly. What's your name?"
"My name is Niannian, the Niannian in 'heart-to-heart'."
Upon hearing her self-introduction, Shen Zhifan sighed and rubbed his forehead in exasperation.
Oh well, it's hopeless.
When Yan's mother saw that Shen Shiyi didn't recognize her at all, she was slightly saddened.
"We've actually met a few times."
Shen Shiyi, who was looking down at the bracelet, was taken aback.
"What?" When did they meet?
Seeing her puzzled expression, Yan's mother couldn't help but mutter to herself.
"Do you know Yaru? I'm her mother."
Shen Shiyi felt the name sounded familiar, and soon she remembered it.
"I remember her." But they didn't have much interaction, did they?
Yan's mother noticed Shen Shiyi's slightly protruding belly and spoke very gently.
Congratulations! How many months pregnant have you been?
Shen Shiyi calmly replied, "It's been almost four months."
"Your belly looks a little different than usual, could it be twins?"
Gu Niansi looked at her in surprise.
"Beautiful grandma, you're amazing! Did you predict it with your fingers?"
Not only Yan's mother and Shen Shiyi, but even the sales assistants couldn't help but laugh.
"The child is so cute."
"Yes, they are just so cute."
The adorable Gu Niansi proudly raised her head and said, "Ladies, am I incredibly cute?"
The two were amused by her, saying, "Yes, she's not just incredibly cute, she's ridiculously cute."
Gu Niansi smiled, pleased with the compliment. "You guys have such good taste."
Shen Shiyi was utterly impressed by her daughter's outgoing personality.
Everyone couldn't help but laugh when they heard Gu Niansi's words.
Yan's mother looked up at Shen Shiyi again, "Would it be convenient to find a place to sit later?"
Shen Shiyi thought for a moment and remembered there was a coffee shop when she came in earlier, so she nodded slightly to Yan's mother and then looked at the sales guide.
"I'd like that bracelet, could you please bring me two?"
She looked up again at the silver tiger pendant beside her, and the sales assistant immediately spoke up.
"Do you want this one too?"
Shen Shiyi nodded gently, and after paying the bill, the group walked towards the coffee shop.
The waiter came over, smiling warmly, and said, "Hello, what would you like to drink?"
Mother Yan looked at her two children and said lovingly, "Children, look at the dessert menu. What would you like to drink?"
Gu Niansi glanced at Shen Shiyi, and only accepted the gift after seeing her nod.
"Pretty auntie, I'd like bubble tea, please!"
The waiter was delighted by her words and became even more enthusiastic.
"Okay, little one, what would you like to drink?"
Shen Zhifan pointed to an ice cream and said, "This one."
"Okay, may I ask what you two ladies would like?"
Shen Shiyi looked at the list and spoke softly.
"Strawberry sour cream cake, please."
Without looking at the order, Yan's mother spoke directly to the waiter.
"Please give me a cappuccino, please."
"Okay, please wait a moment!"
After she left, Yan's mother looked at Shen Shiyi.
"Seeing you so happy now makes me very happy." In the past, her daughter would occasionally talk about her, but at that time she didn't know who she was.
Shen Shiyi had guessed it in her heart, but only smiled faintly.
