As the sun set over the mountaintop at dawn, Qin Ziming casually sat under a tree, leaning against its trunk and gazing into the distance.
The girl who once fought alongside him and whom he could entrust his back to had left his world completely a few months ago!
After sunbathing on the mountain, Qin Ziming left the summit. He drove back to his maternal grandfather's house in W city, arriving around noon.
"Mom, Grandpa and Grandma, I'm back." Qin Ziming unlocked the door and went inside.
Just then, Wang Ma brought the soup out of the kitchen and saw the man in the living room. She squinted her eyes kindly.
"Young Master, you're back! Miss won't be home for dinner tonight. Master and Madam are at an old friend's place for a chat. Wang Ma knew you were coming back, so she specially prepared a few dishes for you."
The young lady just called back, saying she's working overtime at the company and won't be coming home.
Wang Ma quickly set out the bowls and chopsticks.
"Young Master, come and eat quickly."
She wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but she felt that the young master had been preoccupied lately.
At the dinner table, Wang Ma hesitated, unsure whether to speak. Qin Ziming had already noticed this scene and, judging from her conflicted expression, knew that it was something important.
"Aunt Wang, is there something you want to say to me?"
Qin Ziming put down his chopsticks and quietly looked at her.
After hesitating for a long time, Wang Ma finally couldn't resist.
"Young Master, has something been bothering you lately? I always sense that you have something on your mind."
She watched him grow up and raised him from childhood, just like her own child.
Qin Ziming was surprised that Wang Ma would bring this up, and remained silent for a while.
"Wang Ma, don't worry, it's just something that happened in the army. Let's eat, or the food will get cold."
Yes, her leaving is a matter for the military.
Such a painful thing is best left to him alone; there's no need to make his family worry.
He knew that his family, especially his mother, had been very worried about him all these years.
As I pondered, my thoughts drifted away.
Poetry, is it really true that we are destined to be apart?
The car was parked by the roadside, lying quietly and helplessly in the back. Every time he thought of the day he learned of her death, his heart seemed to stop beating, and the car was deathly silent.
The love I never had has already quietly slipped away.
Looking up casually, I saw a familiar scene of a car accident.
Memories flashed before my eyes, the car explosion seemed like yesterday, and I even had a bold thought: could she have miraculously survived just like she did that year?
How I wish this were the ending, but never mind, let's go see her children.
"Grandma, are you feeling better?"
Gu Niansi opened her big, hazy eyes and looked innocently at the person on the hospital bed.
"Much better. Has Niannian been listening to her teacher lately?"
"Wow, the teacher gave three A+ grades on yesterday's homework! Isn't Niannian amazing?"
Gu Niansi immediately took out her academic records that had earned her praise and showed them to Su Fei.
Sophie stroked her soft hair with a sense of relief, feeling quite comforted.
My child, can you see this from heaven? Your beloved daughter and son have become successful. Rest in peace.
Gu Niansi packed her homework and froze when she saw her grandmother's tears.
"Grandma, what's wrong? Did I say something wrong?" Why is Grandma suddenly crying?
Upon hearing this, Shen Zhifan, who had just finished using the restroom, came out and looked at his sister with a bewildered expression.
"It's nothing, it's nothing. Grandma just feels sorry for her as she grows up and becomes more sensible." Of course she feels sorry for her. As the saying goes, a child without a mother is like a blade of grass.
It's just a blade of grass.
Qin Ziming saw everything that happened inside the house.
Suddenly realizing that her eyes were wet, she quickly held them back, put on a smile, and pushed open the door to go inside.
"Niannian, Fanfan, look what delicious food Uncle brought you! Come here!"
When the two children saw Qin Ziming, they grinned and ran over.
"Wow, Uncle Qin, you brought so much delicious food, is it all for us?"
So many snacks and fruits, they look so delicious they make my mouth water.
The two children's beautiful expressions amused the adults, and Qin Ziming affectionately stroked their heads.
"Okay, let's go eat."
He turned around, his expression changed, and came to the hospital bed.
"Auntie, are you alright?"
Such a huge blow must have been incredibly difficult for them.
"Fortunately, I can be discharged from the hospital after resting for a while longer. Now that the children have overcome that hurdle, I feel much more at ease."
Fortunately, the two children are strong enough; otherwise, she wouldn't know what to do.
Qin Ziming understood but remained silent, staying with them in the ward until they had lunch together in the afternoon before leaving.
The hospital was bustling with people, and the afterglow of the setting sun painted the sky with vibrant colors, casting a golden glow on the hospital's brick walls.
Aunt Qu opened the door and brought in dinner.
The moment the lunchbox was opened, the aroma filled the entire room.
"Wow, it smells so good, Grandma Qu! What did you make that smells so good?"
My stomach, which wasn't actually that hungry, started rumbling mischievously, making me feel incredibly embarrassed.
"Haha, brother, you're so funny."
"Today I made cola chicken wings, braised beef, pumpkin and mung bean soup, stir-fried green beans with eggs, corn, goji berry, red date and pork rib soup, and chrysanthemum greens salad, all of which are your favorites."
The expressions on these two little gluttons' faces as they stared intently at the food on the table were absolutely hilarious.
After a satisfying meal, the two little ones patted their round bellies and lay back on their chairs, feeling quite full.
Sophie Qu shook her head with amusement. These two gluttons really think they're prime ministers, with stomachs big enough to hold boats?
