Fifth sheet music

Fifth sheet music

"You said your mom can play the piano?!"

Qiao Tian completely forgot that she was still in class. The sound was loud enough to make the whole class stand in attention. Fortunately, this was a music appreciation class, and the teacher and students all closed their eyes, immersed in Beethoven's symphony.

Tang Xi realized it belatedly and covered her mouth: "Why are you more surprised than me?"

Qiao Tian brushed her hand away and lowered her voice, "Everyone says Tang Guangyao's wife knows nothing about music, and you, her own daughter, have always told me that her piano skills are at best limited to recognizing the black and white keys. Now, you say that not only can she play well, but she can even play "Question" with greater skill than your father. I can hardly help but be surprised."

There was nothing wrong with Qiao Tian's surprise.

The song "Question" means more to Tang Guangyao than just being a famous song.

The music vividly displayed the boy's doubts about the world, and within a few months, media around the world became his fanatical fans.

People all agree that his musical talent is a unique product created by God himself, and his hands are kissed by God.

A talented piano boy.

A talented young pianist.

A talented piano master.

As for her mother.

She just thought of her as an ordinary housewife who had some knowledge of piano but stopped playing after marriage because she was not as good as her father.

Tang Xi grabbed her thighs with both hands, her expression now looking like a bitter herb flower: "I'm surprised too."

Her mother would never talk to her about the past, and her father would only shake his head when he heard questions about her mother.

"Alice, children shouldn't ask too many questions about adults' affairs. Just listen."

So as to what kind of person her mother was, she only heard a few words from others and then pieced them together in her imagination.

Her grandfather told her.

My father married my mother when he was in high school. He was so obsessed with her appearance that he ignored her musical attainments.

Later, the two went to the same university and naturally started dating and got married.

But no one expected that after marriage, the father discovered that the mother only had a pretty face, not only had an extremely bad temper, but also had an empty and boring soul.

The love she had shown for the piano in the past was a means to attract her father.

Tang Xi believed her grandfather's words without a doubt, because she also understood that her mother's greatest hobby and the words she said to her the most were all related to forcing her to practice the piano well.

However, not only is she not mediocre, she can even come up with better questions than her father. Tang Xi doesn't know whether this is a coincidence or something else.

Why did she give up performing on stage and just listen to others playing over and over again in front of the TV? She was even forced to fulfill her dream.

Tang Xi exhaled heavily: "At first yesterday, I thought it was an illusion."

Qiao Tian crossed her arms and said, "What a coincidence! Now that I hear you say this, I've also suspected that I accidentally fell asleep in class, so I dreamed."

After she finished speaking, she raised her hand and pinched her cheek, baring her teeth and saying, "It hurts, so it wasn't a dream."

She puffed up half of her cheeks and, before Tang Xi could speak, she couldn't contain her curiosity and spoke again: "You found your mother playing the piano, and your mother obviously saw you, and she didn't mean to hide it. You didn't ask her directly yesterday, 'Mom, you can actually play the piano'."

Tang Xi ignored the swear words she uttered in excitement and muttered softly, "I'm afraid she will scold me."

Qiao Tian was well aware of her friend's sullen nature. Even though her lips twitched violently, she simply patted her shoulder and said, "I think if she wanted to scold you, she would have done so whether you asked or not. Did she look flustered?"

Tang Xi moved his lips twice: "None."

Qiao Tian narrowed her eyes: "None?"

"No, none of them."

*

Tang Xi recalled last night, when her mother's back looked so light as she played the piano, like an elf dancing in the woods. Her slender fingers were like a breeze, lightly tapping and brushing against each black and white strip, achieving the expected rhythm as she wished.

As a bystander, she couldn't control the urge to dance with her. When the music ended, Tang Xi actually regretted that she didn't dance to the music.

She closed the piano cover, stood up and walked to her side. Her movements were as smooth as flowing water, and her eyes met hers slowly.

She said quietly, "You have to go to school tomorrow, go to bed early."

Just go to bed early?

She didn't have time to question her words. Her mother was like the piano music on her fingertips, like a breeze that came from nowhere and went nowhere, quickly disappearing into the depths of the corridor.

It seemed as if she had never appeared in the piano room tonight, and everything was just her dream.

*

Qiao Tian thought about it and finally came to a conclusion after analyzing it from a relatively objective perspective: "I've always felt that you can't trust everything you hear online, and your grandfather's words are clearly on your father's side."

She paused for a moment and continued, "Not to mention that your parents also needed common topics before they got married. Just the fact that she has clearly cultivated you more than your father over the years, and the detailed plans she has made, I've long felt that her musical attainments are not simple. Didn't you realize that before?"

No, not at all.

Tang Xi suppressed the urge to scream, pursed her lips and said calmly, "If she doesn't want to tell me, it should be easy to hide it."

Qiao Tian stared at her lowered head in silence for a moment. Considering her friend's fragile and sensitive heart, she finally swallowed the unpleasant words.

She coughed twice and changed the question: "Anyway, it's not surprising that she can play the piano, and piano skills are very subjective. But Xi, you think she is better than your father. Is it possible that it is just your illusion?"

Is it her illusion?

Tang Xi also wanted to deceive herself. It was very simple to deceive Qiao Tian. She just had to conceal part of the truth like the uncles and aunts who told her stories.

She didn't even need to lie, she could just put on a distressed expression and say 'maybe'.

But she knew clearly that was not the case.

Before she knew it was her mother playing, she was certain it was her father's improved version. After she knew it was her mother, she could not convince herself that it was all an illusion.

As my father played, he passionately asked the world "why?"

But a mother's words tell the world calmly that everyone has difficulties, but so what? She will find a solution and she will go on with her head held high.

Tang Xi remained silent for too long, but she knew that reality was unavoidable, and she would eventually give herself a satisfactory answer.

"It's not my imagination."

She unconsciously curled her hair with her fingers and repeated, "It's not my illusion. Just talking about the song 'Question', my mother's technique is much better than my father's, even..."

"Even what?" Qiao Tian leaned over and asked in confusion.

"Even." Tang Xi paused for a moment, and finally uttered a sound through his dry throat, "I think my mother understands this song better than my father."

Qiao Tian exclaimed again, "Oh my god, there are people who understand a song better than the creator. Xixi, although I don't like your father, I really think you're overthinking it."

"Oh, do you think that the insights that non-composers have about music itself are all based on their own illusions?"

Qiao Tian stared at Tang Xi's motionless mouth, and a drop of cold sweat fell on his forehead.

She stiffly turned her head towards the source of the sound, and pulled up the corners of her mouth to reveal an extremely ugly smile: "I, I, I, I, that's not what I meant."

I don’t know when the classmates in the classroom left, and there are only three people left in the huge tiered classroom.

Teacher Xu loves to wear very authoritative floral dresses, and wears a pair of black-framed glasses on her nose. She leans forward in front of Qiao Tian with her hands on the table. She looks so authoritative that she seems like the head teacher of all the experts in the country.

"So what do you mean?" Teacher Xu grabbed her ear and said angrily, "Okay, so you think music appreciation class is unnecessary, listening to my 'illusion' is unnecessary, and physical education class is more necessary, right?"

Qiao Tian's eyes dodged: "Teacher, what you are thinking now is the real illusion, please don't be angry."

Teacher Xu raised an eyebrow and said, "Whether I misunderstood you or not, you can wait and explain to your parents. As for whether I am angry or not, I will be angry now."

Teacher Xu's smile suddenly became extremely bright: "I promise that it is definitely not your illusion."

Qiao Tian knew that Teacher Xu had a sharp tongue but a soft heart, so she put her hands together and apologized quickly, promising that she would not make the same mistake again. Only then did she successfully escape the danger.

Teacher Xu looked at the two of them and shook his head. He reached out and tapped her forehead, saying helplessly, "If you really don't like music, you should tell your parents as soon as possible. It's really a waste to let your dad donate a building for something you don't even like."

After Ms. Xu finished teaching Qiao Tian a lesson, she looked at Tang Xi, who was standing beside her. Her expression was no longer as serious as before, but rather more worried. "Tang Xi, I know a lot about what was taught in class, and your understanding is no better than mine. Anyway, I definitely can't explain it as well as you, so—"

Tang Xi had been listening obediently until now, but for the first time she interrupted the teacher and asked in surprise, "Teacher Xu, what did you call me mom just now?"

"Teacher Yu, I have some questions I don't understand now, and I will call her to ask for her opinion." Teacher Xu blinked twice.

Qiao Tian looked strange: "According to my stereotype, Xixi's mother really hates talking to humans."

Teacher Xu said helplessly: "Where did you two get these stereotypes from?"

Qiao Tian also felt that this description was too exaggerated. Although the hostess never gave any enthusiastic response every time she went to her friend's house, it was definitely not impolite.

She touched her nose and nodded in acknowledgment: "My choice of words was inappropriate."

"A good child is one who admits his mistakes and corrects them." Teacher Xu patted her head.

Qiao Tian stuck out her tongue and gave a playful smile, then turned her head to glance at her friend beside her. Her eyes were full of questions that were about to overflow, but due to her personality, she always didn't dare to ask actively.

Her eyes rolled around in her sockets, and she felt that as a friend, there were some things she could definitely help her with.

She said, "Teacher Xu, let's put aside the issue of Xixi's mother's personality for now. Please explain to us why you, as a music appreciation teacher at one of the country's top arts high schools, would actually ask questions of a student's parent, especially the less famous of the two."

"First of all, fame isn't everything. Whose name is on the wall of honor outside is irrelevant to one's strength."

Teacher Xu's words made Qiao Tian and Tang Xi look at each other in confusion.

"Secondly." Teacher Xu tapped his fingers twice on the desk. "Tang Xi, I'm surprised you don't know Teacher Yu's true level. She never slacked off in school. She always got top marks in both academics and music. It's a pity..."
