Niuniu was instantly enraged upon seeing this. An even greater force erupted from her. Her eyes instantly turned blood red, like a ferocious, bloodthirsty beast, sharp fangs bared at the corners of her mouth, and a swirling black energy swirled around her. With the swiftness of an arrow, she sprinted towards the mutated golden eagle.
The powerful blast of air whipped up by the mutated golden eagle was like a raging hurricane, nearly sending Wu Xiaohu and Yu Kai caressingly caressing. Wu Xiaohu clutched Yu Kai tightly with one hand, the other clinging to a crumbling cypress tree nearby. He watched the mutated golden eagle's razor-sharp beak barreling down upon him, sweat pouring down his forehead. "We've escaped the underworld, are we going to fall at the hands of this beast?" his voice trembled, filled with endless resentment.
Just when he was desperate, the mutant golden eagle suddenly stopped in mid-air, and then saw its huge body rushing upwards like a cannonball. From a distance, he could see Niuniu's petite body tightly hugging its neck, struggling to pull it upwards.
The mutated golden eagle lunged left and right, tumbling wildly in the air, attempting to throw her off. Its wings flapped violently, the wind howled and shattered the surrounding clouds. Niuniu gripped its neck tightly, her fingers digging into its flesh, her sharp fangs biting down fiercely, instantly drawing its blood.
The mutant golden eagle roared, a sound that seemed to pierce the heavens. It struggled in agony in the air, flapping its wings desperately, but it could not break free from Niuniu. Niuniu was rooted to it, unmoving. As it struggled, its strength weakened, its movements slowed, and finally it charged straight towards the horde of mutant zombies. Even if it died, it would not let Niuniu have an easy time. This was its last stand, a resolute fight to the death.
Countless mutant zombies roared and charged towards Niu Niu and the others. The sound merged into one, deafening like rolling thunder. Niu Niu knew the situation was extremely critical. She suddenly blasted open the mutant golden eagle's head, put away the mutation bead, and quickly engaged in a fierce battle with the charging mutant zombies.
She was now immensely powerful, each strike carrying a terrifying force like thunder. Mutated zombies were easily torn apart by her attacks, their limbs flying everywhere. Her movements were as swift as lightning and as fierce as the wind, raining blood wherever she went. Soon, she had fought her way through the encirclement, swift as a whirlwind, and she was in front of Wu Xiaohu and the others.
Her mouth was now covered in blood, her eyes bloodshot, and her gaze was filled with madness and murderous intent. She looked ferocious and terrifying, no different from those mutant creatures. Wu Xiaohu was so frightened that he was trembling all over, not daring to say a word, fearing that she would attack him if he made the slightest mistake.
Niuniu said nothing, her nails quickly retracting. Under Wu Xiaohu's worried gaze, she flashed, yanking him and Yu Kai to her left and right, then darted off into the distance like a streak of light. The wind howled in their ears, the force of the blast making it nearly impossible for Wu Xiaohu to open his eyes.
Soon they arrived at a vast desert, where the scorching sun mercilessly baked the golden sands. Wu Xiaohu's heart finally relaxed a little. This was the Nantianmen construction base, an area he was familiar with, which reassured him. They soon landed on a relatively flat surface. Wu Xiaohu quickly embraced Yu Kai, protecting him tightly with his body, his eyes fixed on Niuniu, fearing she might suddenly do something harmful.
Suddenly, the ground gave way, and they plummeted, tumbling down into a bottomless abyss, carried by the quicksand beneath their feet. The quicksand, like a swift current, seeped rapidly through tiny holes. In the blink of an eye, they were trapped in an incredibly solid iron cage. A mechanical click echoed from the hole above their heads, and the hole, which had been falling, quickly opened up, plunging the surroundings into pitch darkness.
In the pitch-black darkness, Wu Xiaohu could only see Niuniu's blood-red eyes, gleaming with an eerie light. They seemed fixed on Yu Kai, who was in his arms. He held Yu Kai even tighter, his voice trembling as he called out, "Niuniu! Are you okay? Please don't hurt the young master! The young master almost died in the underworld because of you." His heart was beating so fast it threatened to burst, and beads of sweat rolled down his forehead.
Niuniu's blood-red eyes flickered slightly, the chilling blood-red fading like a tide. With a heavy jolt from the iron cage, they finally landed underground. The surrounding lights suddenly flickered on, the intense light making it difficult for their eyes to adjust.
Niu Niu's fangs slowly retracted, and her once ferocious and terrifying features gradually regained their delicate beauty. A beautiful face appeared before her eyes, her skin as white as snow, delicate and smooth, as if it could be broken by a touch. Her eyes also became bright and clear, like the twinkling stars in the night sky. She looked at Yu Kai's rising and falling chest, and the corners of her mouth curled up slightly, revealing a gentle smile. That smile was as warm and touching as the spring breeze blowing on the willows. Two shallow dimples on her cheeks made her look sweet and lovely.
Footsteps could be heard all around, heavy and rapid. Countless troops, armed with live ammunition, surged forward like a tide. Wu Xiaohu glanced nervously around and saw Academician Chao and his men approaching swiftly through the crowd. They weaved through the countless troops and quickly arrived in front of them.
"Mr. Chao! Mr. Fang! Mr. Chen!" Wu Xiaohu immediately picked up Yu Kai and shouted at them, his voice filled with tears and anxiety.
"What happened? Weren't you taken away by the alien mecha?" Academician Fang stared at him closely and asked very quickly, his face full of confusion and worry.
"Comrade Wu Xiaohu, who are you holding?" Academician Chao looked at Yu Kai, who looked extremely old and had one arm missing, and asked in confusion with a frown.
"Could this be Xiaokai?" Looking at Wu Xiaohu crying and Niu Niu remaining silent, Old Chen asked cautiously.
"Yes! It's my young master!" Wu Xiaohu answered in a choked voice with tears in his eyes.
"Let's go back first and talk while we walk!" Old Chao immediately made way and motioned Wu Xiaohu and the others to follow, his expression serious and anxious.
Niu Niu didn't say a word during the whole process. It seemed that there was only Yu Kai in her eyes. Her focused expression was as if she was obsessed, and she followed him silently.
They were soon settled in the military hospital. Niuniu quickly retrieved the newly collected mutation beads and gently administered them to Yu Kai. The military had also sent him a number of precious mutation beads, including some extremely rare, high-grade ones. As Yu Kai absorbed each of the beads, the wound on his chest healed at a visible rate. Granulation tissue began to sprout in his severed arm, and new bone and muscle rapidly grew. His aged features slowly recovered.
