Chapter 25:25 Instigating others to divorce, what on earth are you thinking...
After quietly returning the property ownership certificate, Ji Yushu breathed a sigh of relief. With the written agreement, Yao Yan finally relented and agreed to partition off Ji Wenwu's room, allowing Ji Yushu to have his own room again. However, he only put the things he brought back from the cotton mill in it and slept at Ye Qiuju's at night. As for something as important as the property ownership certificate, there was no way he could leave it there. So, he took the property ownership certificate and went to Ye Qiuju's place.
Ye Qiuju was already used to the sound of keys turning. She stood up and opened the door. Sure enough, it was Ji Yushu. She stepped forward and asked, "Brother Ji, are you hungry? Do you want me to make you a bowl of noodles?"
"No need. I have to meet someone tomorrow. Go to bed early." Tomorrow is the day to meet Zhao Dacheng. Thinking of this, Ji Yushu was a little excited.
"Oh, okay, then I'll go get you some hot water for washing." Ye Qiuju said as she took the basin and went outside to the yard. The stove she bought was placed outside the door, and hot water was always simmering on it.
Ji Yushu was lying on the bed waiting for Ye Qiuju to get hot water for him to wash his face and feet. He felt more and more that it was right to get a divorce. He could not enjoy this treatment with Jiang Yulan. Touching the property certificate in his arms, he seemed to have seen the days when his business was booming. By then, even if Jiang Yulan regretted it, he could not remarry her.
"Brother Ji, the water is here." Ye Qiuju placed the basin in front of him. Seeing that he was in a good mood, she mentioned, "Mingyue almost missed dinner tonight."
Ji Yushu didn't return to the iron factory that night. Hearing this, he couldn't help but pause: "What's wrong? Did something happen at school?"
"That's not the case. There was something wrong with the bicycle. The mechanic said that it was a bit old and would often have problems even after it was repaired." Ye Qiuju thought that her hints were obvious enough. If he still didn't want to change the bike, she had tried her best, and Ji Mingyue couldn't blame herself.
"Let's pick a new one for her in a few days." After hesitating for a while, Ji Yushu quickly made a decision. With the mortgage by then, he would be able to get a larger loan, right?
"Isn't that a bit too wasteful?" Ye Qiuju asked carefully.
Seeing her like this, Ji Yushu smiled and said, "It's okay. It's what I should do. Over the years, the people I owe the most are you and Mingyue. Fortunately, there is still a chance to make it up to them."
Ye Qiuju didn't say anything, but just leaned lightly against his chest. After a long while, she spoke: "Brother Ji, you are so nice." What she was thinking about was what Ji Mingyue had said before, so was it true that he gave Chen Guilan half a month's salary every month?
"This is nothing. When my business is successful, I will buy you a car, let you wear gold and silver, and then buy us a house." Ji Yushu has already begun to imagine the beautiful life in the future.
Ye Qiuju lowered her eyes. These were the good days that Ji Lili and her daughter had enjoyed in their previous life. Now it was finally their turn.
*
Jiang Aiguo acted quickly, and the following day he went to Zhang Zhiqiang to inquire about the necessary documents for the name change. It turned out to be simple, requiring only a birth certificate and household registration booklet. Unfortunately, Ji Lili had to go to school on weekdays, so she would have to take time off to handle the matter, so the matter was put on hold for the time being.
As for changing the surname, it was not a momentary impulse on Ji Lili's part. The Ji family didn't care about her as a girl, and if she continued to use the surname Ji, it would be equivalent to disgusting Jiang Yulan and her grandfather. It would be better for her to just take their surname.
Fortunately, she thought, changing her surname didn't require her biological father's signature these days. Otherwise, she would have to wait until she reached adulthood to make the decision herself. Changing it to Jiang Lili sounded pretty good. She wrote Jiang Lili twice on the paper and grinned.
"Lili, what are you laughing at?" Ke Sisi was a little curious.
"You'll know in a few days." Ji Lili decided to keep it a secret for now and wait until her mother asked and helped her change her name successfully before telling her.
"By the way, has He Jian looked for you? What did he ask you to do?" Ke Sisi was curious about this.
"Not yet. I met him after school the day before yesterday. I asked him but he didn't say anything. He acted so mysterious." Ji Lili complained.
"I don't know what big move he is planning." Ke Sisi became even more curious.
"Don't worry, I'll be the first to tell you when the time comes." Ji Lili couldn't help but curl the corners of her lips when she saw her pouting.
"Okay." Ke Sisi nodded happily at her. Noticing someone was looking at her, she raised her head and looked forward, and saw Wu Juyue lowering her head in time. Even though she moved quickly enough, she still caught her panicked movement.
"What's wrong?" Ji Lili looked at her with some confusion.
"It's that Wu Juyue. Ever since she came back from leave, she always turns around to look at us. She makes me feel like I'm being watched." Ke Sisi frowned as she spoke. She thought, no one would like this.
"Really? I didn't notice that." Since asking for leave, Wu Juyue has been much more well-behaved. She would avoid Ji Mingyue from a distance when she saw her. As a result, Ji Lili rarely appeared in front of her.
"Forget it, let's not talk about her. Lili, my uncle-in-law works in the iron factory. I heard them mention something about your father. Do you want to hear it?" Ke Sisi asked carefully, mainly because she thought Lili would be happy to hear about this, otherwise she would not say anything.
"Okay, go ahead." Ji Lili knew that Ke Sisi was not a person without a sense of boundaries. She probably said this to amuse herself.
"My uncle said that your dad didn't even have his own room after he returned to the iron factory. Your grandparents had planned to divide the largest room into two for him, but your third aunt disagreed, and shouted that her son's things must not be touched. Later, your grandparents signed a document saying that all the things in the house would belong to your cousin. Now that they have signed the document, your dad will not get anything in the future." Ke Sisi paid attention to her expression as she spoke, and immediately shut up when she realized something was wrong.
"It seems that my third aunt won this round." Ji Lili guessed that the matter of signing the document was also spread by Yao Yan, letting everyone know that the house belonged to Ji Wenwu. She probably put pressure on her because she knew that Ye Qiuju and the others were trying to have a son.
"My uncle-in-law said that the people at the iron factory were laughing at them, saying that they were picking up sesame seeds and losing watermelons." Since they had concealed this matter when they got married, they should have kept it a secret. They even sent their previous daughter to be raised by Jiang Yulan. It would be strange if they didn't divorce.
"Do you also think that my mother chose to divorce because of Ji Mingyue's existence?" Ji Lili was a little curious about Ke Sisi's thoughts.
"Of course not. What Auntie cares about is the deception. And it has been a deception from the beginning. It has lasted for nearly twenty years. It's scary to think about it." Ke Sisi shook her head.
"Yes, Sisi, remember, sunk costs should not be involved in major decisions. The most important thing is to stop losses in time." Ji Lili said seriously.
Ke Sisi nodded, not quite understanding, and then reminded with lip language: "The teacher is here!"
This class was English, and Ji Mingyue was still very active. Seeing Tang Yan nodding in agreement, Ji Lili guessed that she might also be Ji Mingyue's target. She glanced down at her English book. It seemed that she would have to continue listening to the tapes to practice speaking when she got home tonight.
"Okay, Ji Mingyue's spoken English is very good. Class representative, Ji Mingyue will lead tomorrow's morning reading." Tang Yan looked at Ji Lili.
"Okay, teacher," Ji Lili nodded quickly in agreement. Leading the reading was a tough job, and she was not willing to give it up.
After the get out of class, many people gathered around Ji Mingyue's seat, all asking her how to improve her spoken English. Class 7 was originally a rocket class, and everyone was very serious about learning.
Ji Mingyue didn't hold back and continued with the same rhetoric as before, concluding with encouragement: "Besides all that, the most important thing is to be brave enough to speak up. Everyone can go back and read the text in front of the mirror and correct their pronunciation."
At this time, families with better financial resources had bought single-player or repeater machines to facilitate English learning. While Ji Lili was stunned, Ke Sisi had already stuffed an earphone into her ear and said angrily, "Lili, you're obviously no worse than her. She's the only one who loves to show off."
Ji Lili was amused by her. At this time, a voice came from the headphones, which was exactly the content of the English book. She actually had a single-player machine and tapes at home. In terms of learning, Jiang Yulan was willing to spend money on her, but she usually didn't bring them to school.
Most people bring music to school to relax themselves after class. Apart from anything else, the singers' songs are still quite good at this time.
"Okay, it's time to end the get out of class, so let's listen to your favorite song, "The Rainy Season of Seventeen." Ji Lili thought, this song probably every high school student would be obsessed with for a while?
At this moment, a classmate's voice came from the classroom door: "Ji Lili, someone is looking for you."
Ji Lili was a little curious about who would come to see her at this moment. When she saw He Jian outside the door, she was a little surprised: "Why, have you thought it through?"
"Yeah, I've thought about it." He Jian nodded. He had been trying to persuade his mother these days, and today his mother finally gave in.
"Tell me, what is it? I will do whatever I can." Ji Lili thought, he deliberately brought her to the stairs, what on earth did he want to say?
He Jian glanced around and made sure that no one was around before he spoke: "I just want to trouble Aunt Jiang and my mom to talk about life after the divorce." At the end, he lowered his eyes, a little afraid that she would reject him.
"That's it?" Ji Lili obviously didn't expect that this was his request.
"If possible, please tell Aunt Jiang that life after the divorce is not sad at all. I have secretly observed these days that both you and Aunt Jiang have a lot of smiles on their faces, and they are sincere smiles. Ji Lili, do you think Aunt Jiang is happier after the divorce?" He Jian asked a little nervously. Although he had observed it, he was afraid of hearing a completely different answer from her mouth.
"Yes, my mother is indeed much happier after the divorce. Do you want to persuade your mother to divorce?" Ji Lili lowered her voice when she said the last sentence.
"Well, I guess you all know about my dad's situation. He always swears to change, but every time he gets his salary, he starts playing cards. My mom not only has to support me, but also him. I don't want her to work so hard." He Jian found it difficult to talk about more details of his parents' quarrels and even the physical fights.
"Okay, I will tell my mother, but I can't guarantee whether Aunt Tian is willing to listen." Ji Lili thought, although He Jian acted a little confused, he was still very soft-hearted and knew how to feel sorry for Aunt Tian.
"I'm very grateful that Aunt Jiang is willing to talk to my mom." He had advised her to divorce before, but she insisted that no one around her was getting divorced and that if she got divorced, she would become a laughing stock. He just wanted to use Aunt Jiang's story to tell her that divorce was not as terrible as she imagined.
"Okay, then bring Aunt Tian to my house after school this afternoon." Ji Lili thought about it. By then they would have finished their meal and returned to school for evening self-study. She would leave space for her mother and Aunt Tian so that they could both relax.
"Okay, Ji Lili, thank you." He Jian said as he bowed to her, the formality making Ji Lili a little uncomfortable.
"We've been neighbors for many years, it's just a piece of cake." Ji Lili thought of Tian Shufen whom she met by chance. She seemed to be a good-tempered person, and she didn't know what choice she would make.
After He Jian left, Ji Lili returned to the classroom. Ke Sisi came over curiously and asked, "How's it going? Did he come to you to fulfill his promise?"
"Yeah." Ji Lili nodded.
"What's the matter?" Ke Sisi looked at her excitedly.
"This matter is a little special. It concerns his privacy, so I can't tell you for the time being." Ji Lili looked at Ke Sisi apologetically, hoping that she could understand her.
Ke Sisi was stunned for a moment, then nodded in relief: "It's okay, I understand, everyone has secrets that they don't want others to know."
Ji Lili breathed a sigh of relief, fearing that she would continue to ask questions. Fortunately, she and Wu Juyue had completely different personalities.
Compared to Ke Sisi's open-mindedness, Wu Juyue in the front row was itching to do something. She saw that it was He Jian who came to see Ji Lili, so why did he come to Ji Lili this time? Would they continue to target her? For a moment, Wu Juyue seemed to be back to the day when He Jian publicly accused her. She felt that her hand holding the pen was shaking.
Her deskmate noticed something was wrong with her and couldn't help but exclaimed, "Wu Juyue, are you okay?"
"I'm fine." Wu Juyue's smile was a little forced.
"Juyue, what's wrong with you? Are you feeling unwell? Let me take you to the school infirmary." Ji Mingyue rushed over immediately. When she saw He Jian outside the classroom just now, she knew that this coward would definitely be affected, and sure enough.
"I'm fine." Wu Juyue shook her head. As long as she overcame the initial thought, she would soon return to normal.
"Juyue. You scared me to death. Remember to tell me if you feel uncomfortable anywhere." Seeing her recover, Ji Mingyue felt a little sorry, otherwise this would be a good opportunity to increase the strategy value.
"Okay, thank you Mingyue." Wu Juyue initially regretted losing her friend Ji Lili, but now she feels fortunate that she made a friend like Ji Mingyue.
Ji Mingyue felt that Wu Juyue's smile was different from usual. When she looked up, her strategy value was approaching 99 points. She concealed her excitement and said to her with a smile, "We are good friends. There is no need to be so polite."
"Yes, we are good friends." Wu Juyue repeated this sentence in a low voice, and finally turned her head to look at Ji Lili. Look, Ji Lili, if you don't cherish me as a friend, there are others who will. This time it's really goodbye!
When Ji Lili looked up, she only saw the back of Wu Juyue's head. She didn't care and continued to solve the math problem. By the way, she wondered why her uncle had not yet asked about the process of changing the name.
When you have something on your mind, you will feel that time passes slowly, just like Ji Lili now. Because she is thinking about changing her name and Tian Shufen, she always feels that time passes especially slowly today. When the bell for the end of get out of class rang, she felt the bell sounded so pleasant for the first time.
Wu Juyue, who was in the front, was still an active participant. She held Ji Mingyue's arm as they weaved through the crowd. She looked at Ji Mingyue and whispered, "That's great. We finally don't have to accommodate her."
"Yes." Ji Mingyue said this reluctantly. She felt that she was surrounded by people, all around her, and everyone was rushing to get out. The squeeze was too uncomfortable. More importantly, it was dangerous. She had just witnessed a stampede before she came here. Thinking of this, she tilted her head and looked at Wu Juyue next to her: "It seems a bit crowded."
"You are not active in eating. There is something wrong with your thinking. It's been a whole morning and everyone must be hungry." Wu Juyue looked at Ji Mingyue with a smile. No matter how stupid she was, she understood what she meant. But she was not like Ji Lili. Even if she didn't like it, she would still accommodate herself, so Wu Juyue smiled even more happily.
After most of the people had left, Ji Lili and Ke Sisi came out of the classroom slowly and waved goodbye: "See you this afternoon."
On the way back, she unexpectedly ran into He Jian. Perhaps he had deliberately slowed down to wait for her. Ji Lili raised an eyebrow at him, trying to liven up the atmosphere: "Why, are you afraid that I'll regret it?"
"No." He Jian felt embarrassed for a moment when his thoughts were spoken, and he quickly shook his head.
"Let's go. Don't worry. I'll ask my mother and Aunt Tian to talk to you about the benefits of divorce." Ji Lili signaled him not to worry.
"I'm just afraid my mom will be stubborn," He Jian said, his tone tinged with worry. His father had gone from kneeling down to apologize after losing money to physically abusing his mom after losing money, then repeating the same pattern of kneeling down to apologize. He was afraid his mom would repeat herself, like she did at the beginning, going from refusing to accept the situation to gradually accepting it.
"Then you should have a good talk with your aunt and tell her that this kind of environment has affected your study state. I hope she can be brave for you once." Ji Lili guessed that Tian Shufen did not choose to divorce because she wanted to give her child a complete home. After all, most people now have such thoughts and think that it is nothing to suffer a little for the sake of their children, but they don't know that the children do not need her self-touching sacrifice.
He Jian looked up when he heard this, with hesitation in his eyes: "Will this help?" Every time his mother saw his grades, she would just sigh. He didn't want her to worry about his grades, so he rarely took the initiative to talk to her about study-related matters.
"How do you know if you don't try?" Ji Lili continued to encourage.
As the two were talking, they heard the sound of a bicycle bell behind them. Ji Lili subconsciously moved to the side of the road. When the bicycle passed them, they realized it was Zheng Gaoyang. He Jian said with a dark face, "Is there something wrong with Zheng Gaoyang? The road is so wide, but he had to squeeze this way. Did he hit you just now?"
"Not really." Ji Lili shook her head.
"I think he did it on purpose. He was probably trying to disgust you to stand up for Ji Mingyue." Disdain flashed in He Jian's eyes.
"Is that so?" Ji Lili's eyes flashed with surprise. Did Ji Mingyue actually conquer Zheng Gaoyang so quickly?
"I saw him comforting Ji Mingyue that day, and they looked very familiar with each other." He Jian has always been careless, so naturally he didn't know Zheng Gaoyang's feelings for Ji Lili. What made him angry now was Zheng Gaoyang's "betrayal". After all, Ji Lili was their playmate who grew up together. How could he stand on Ji Mingyue's side?
"Maybe. I think you need to have a good talk with Aunt Tian and tell her your true thoughts. She loves you so much, she will definitely consider you." She didn't care about Zheng Gaoyang's affairs, but just advised him to have a good talk with his mother.
He Jian didn't say anything, just thinking about her words. Did his mother love him? It seemed that she didn't love him that much. The family had always revolved around his father. Whatever his father liked to eat, the family would make it. His mother seemed to have never asked him what he liked. Thinking of this, He Jian's eyes quickly dimmed.
"I'll go upstairs first, bye." When they arrived at the cotton mill's staff quarters, He Jian was still in a daze. Ji Lili waved at him.
He Jian was a little slow to react, then looked up: "Oh, okay."
"Lili is back. Go wash your hands. We cooked fish today." Zhou Qingfen smiled and told her to go wash up quickly.
"I'll go right away." Ji Lili touched her belly while washing her hands. The food at her uncle's house was so good that she felt she had gained weight after just a few days.
"Sister Lili, hurry up, otherwise the fish will smell fishy." Jiang Qitong stared at the fish and yet had the distraction to urge her to hurry up.
"I'll be right there." Ji Lili quickened her movements.
The Jiang family has no rule of not talking while eating. Ji Lili conveyed to them what Ke Sisi had told her. Sure enough, everyone became happy when they heard that Ji Yushu was having a hard time.
"Yao Yan is still as aggressive as ever. People like Ji Yushu who are too obsessed with face and suffer in their lifetime need someone like her to deal with them." Jiang Yulan smiled and swallowed the food in her mouth.
"Serves you right. It seems that Mrs. Ji still likes her eldest grandson more." Jiang Aiguo said sarcastically.
"After all, Ji Wenwu was raised by her, and he can be seen and touched. Ji Yushu and Ye Qiuju's son is still nowhere to be seen." Jiang Yulan could guess Chen Guilan's thoughts, so it was right for Yao Yan to take the initiative. She just didn't know whether the old couple and Ji Yushu would cheat and refuse to recognize the receipt in the future.
"By the way, Mom, haven't you asked about changing your name yet?" Ji Lili asked casually.
"I asked, but you were in school when they were working." Jiang Yulan thought it wouldn't work and decided to go during the winter vacation.
"Wouldn't it be better to just take a leave?" It was fine before I had the idea of changing my name, but now that I have this idea, I want to put it into practice as soon as possible.
Jiang Yulan was stunned for a moment, then nodded: "Okay, then I'll take you there early tomorrow morning."
"Okay." Ji Lili was thinking about going to school to ask for advice in the afternoon.
After dinner, Ji Lili tugged at Jiang Yulan's clothes and said, "Mom, I want to discuss something with you."
"What? You still have to whisper at this age?" Although she said this, Jiang Yulan still followed Ji Lili outside.
After telling He Jian what she had asked, she looked up at Jiang Yulan: "Mom, what do you think?"
Jiang Yulan thought of Tian Shufen whom she met in the workshop today. She seemed to see the bruise under her sleeve. She nodded and said, "Okay, just chatting. It's not a big deal."
"Mom, do you think Aunt Tian will get a divorce? I think He Jian really wants her to get a divorce. I don't know what she's thinking." Pornography, gambling, and drugs, if you get involved in any of these three things, there will basically be no peace in the family.
"Only she knows this matter, we can't make a decision for her." Jiang Yulan said calmly.
"Yeah, I hope Aunt Tian can come to her senses." Ji Lili just felt that it was rare to find a boy who could empathize with his mother, and she hoped that He Jian could have a good learning environment.
"Well, go to sleep quickly, otherwise you will be sleepy during the afternoon class." Jiang Yulan urged.
"I understand." When Ji Lili returned to Jiang Qitong's room, the little girl was already half asleep. When she saw her coming, she rubbed her eyes and said in a somewhat unclear voice, "Sister Lili, come quickly."
"I'll be right there." Ji Lili curled the corners of her lips, covered her with a thin blanket, and then lay down beside her. She closed her eyes, but did not fall asleep immediately. She was still thinking about what they should do best with the money. She only wanted to succeed and not fail.
*
Ji Yushu went to the teahouse early in the morning to wait for Zhao Dacheng. At the appointed time, Zhao Dacheng finally appeared in the teahouse. He waved hurriedly: "Brother Zhao, this way."
"Brother Ji, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting for so long." Zhao Dacheng said as he gave him a cigarette.
"I just arrived too. Brother Zhao, did you just come back from Guangzhou?" Ji Yushu asked tentatively.
"Yes, we got a batch of repeaters this time. You know, kids nowadays need this thing to learn English." Zhao Dacheng said as he opened his lighter and lit the cigarette in his hand.
"Repeater?" Secretary Ji Yu knew that the current market price of a repeater was more than one hundred yuan, while a stand-alone player was cheaper, and could be bought for just a few dozen yuan. Most students now choose stand-alone players, so Jiang Yulan bought one for Ji Lili.
"Yes, there are more rich people in Yuncheng than you think. Since the introduction of the family planning policy, every family has only one precious baby. How can they not feel pain?" Zhao Dacheng explained.
"That's true." Ji Yushu nodded. He thought that if he had a son, he would definitely not want to be compared to others.
"In addition to tape recorders, DVD players and game consoles are also selling well. Have you decided what products to sell?" Zhao Dacheng asked casually.
The cost of DVD players and game consoles was too high. Ji Yushu hesitated and said, "Let's buy tape recorders and cassettes. Like you said, Brother Zhao, most students have one. Renting them wouldn't be that expensive. After all, I don't have that much money."
"Don't be afraid of not having funds. You can go to the post office or business office to apply for a loan. I got my first capital from a loan." Zhao Dacheng shared his experience with him.
Ji Yushu didn't say anything. He was still very cautious and didn't intend to tell everything at once. He just asked, "Brother Zhao, which companies do you usually buy from? Do you have any good recommendations? Don't worry, I will definitely buy something different from you."
"It's too formal to say that. I have to go to Guangzhou in a week. How about you come with me to take a look? Only by inspecting it yourself can you see it clearly." Zhao Dacheng made an invitation.
His last words moved Ji Yushu's heart. After all these years, the farthest place he had been was back when he went to the countryside. Going to Guangzhou was a good opportunity. He thought about it and didn't agree immediately: "I have to go back and discuss this with my family. Is it okay with you?"
"Okay, of course. Once you've made up your mind, call me so I can buy tickets in advance," said Zhao Dacheng.
After coming out of the teahouse, Ji Yushu took out the property certificate from his arms and went to the business office. Regardless of whether he went to Guangzhou or not, he had to borrow the money first.
Ji Yushu didn't expect that he could only borrow 10,000 yuan even with the property certificate as collateral. Last time, he could borrow 20,000 yuan with Jiang Jianyi as a guarantor. He was a little angry, but the staff inside patiently explained to him that this was already the maximum amount, and the house was not worth even 10,000 yuan.
"Okay, then let's borrow the money first." After hesitating for a while, Ji Yushu finally compromised. It was better than having no money at all.
Looking at the 10,000 cash pushed out by the teller, he counted it three times and finally asked the other party to deposit a 5,000 yuan deposit slip for him. It was his first time to Guangzhou and he didn't plan to bring all his assets with him. After all, some goods were difficult to get under Zhao Dacheng's nose, so he had to save some money for his next solo trip.
Five thousand yuan was a huge sum of money at that time. Adding the money Chen Guilan had lent him last time and the odds and ends he had, he estimated that the total would be around five thousand five hundred. Instead of going home directly, he went to a bicycle store and spent over two hundred yuan to pick out a pink bicycle for Ji Mingyue.
When they returned to the iron factory for lunch at noon, Ji Yushu pulled Ji Mingyue aside and told her mysteriously, "Go back to your mother's place and sleep later."
"Oh." Although Ji Mingyue was puzzled, she still agreed obediently.
Since signing the agreement, Yao Yan has become much more enthusiastic towards them. When she heard that Ji Mingyue was going to sleep over there, she asked with concern, "Is it too crowded to sleep with Lanlan? Second brother, can you find someone to make another bed for Mingyue?"
"Let's make do with it for now." Yao Yan's words reminded Ji Yushu of the new bed and wardrobe he had made for Ji Mingyue at the cotton mill. All of these were spent on his money. He was so angry with Jiang Yulan at the time that he forgot about it. No, he had to find a time to get them back.
"Okay." Yao Yan also had her own little thoughts. If Ji Yushu made a new bed for Ji Mingyue and put it in Lanlan's room, then it would be theirs in the future. Unfortunately, he didn't love his daughter at all.
After dinner, the father and daughter went to Ye Qiuju's rental house together. Seeing his mysterious face, Ye Qiuju couldn't help but feel a little confused. When Ye Qiuju opened the door, Ji Mingyue saw the bicycle inside at a glance. She was a little surprised: "Wow, is this bought for me?"
Ji Mingyue never thought that one day she would burst into tears over a bicycle. There was nothing she could do because the bike she was riding now was too heavy. The chain was always making noises, and it was very difficult to ride it to and from school.
"Look how happy this kid is." Ye Qiuju looked at Ji Yushu with a satisfied smile. She hadn't gone to the ironworks for dinner today. Chen Guilan was so stingy with cooking oil that she gave the meat to the men at home first. She couldn't even get two slices. So she found an excuse not to go and ordered a portion of twice-cooked pork from work to improve her diet.
"Thank you, Dad." Ji Mingyue was not sure about the exact price of the bicycle, but she knew it was not cheap. It seemed that Ji Yushu was rich.
"As long as you like it, I'm going to Guangzhou next week and I'll bring you and your daughter the most fashionable things." On the way to apply for a loan, Ji Yushu had already decided to go to Guangzhou with Zhao Dacheng.
"Go to Guangzhou?" Ye Qiuju was a little surprised. She had never left the province in her previous life, and she also wanted to go.
"Yes, let's go and take a look at the source of goods. After we get familiar with the place, I will take you and your daughter there when Mingyue is on vacation." Ji Yushu said with great ambition.
Ji Mingyue's eyes flashed with joy. She had finally reached the stage of starting her own business. Her life as a second-generation rich kid shouldn't be far away. In such a good mood, she rode her new bike to school. Wu Juyue's eyes lit up when she saw her new bike: "Mingyue, did you buy a new bike?"
"Yes, my dad bought it for me." She thought, wondering if Ji Lili would be envious after knowing the news.
"This color is so pretty. Can we take turns riding it after school?" Wu Juyue asked.
"Of course." Ji Mingyue agreed readily.
"I knew you were the best, Mingyue. Don't worry, I will protect your new car carefully." Wu Juyue assured her.
"It's okay. You buy a bicycle to ride it, so just treat it normally." To Ji Mingyue, a bicycle was not a precious thing, so she said it nonchalantly.
The two of them chatted and laughed as they went to the classroom. In just a moment, the news that Ji Mingyue's father had bought her a new bicycle spread throughout the class, and everyone subconsciously looked at Ji Lili.
"You're crazy." Ke Sisi couldn't help but curse. These people are really crazy. Ji Mingyue bought a new bicycle, why are they looking at Ji Lili?
Ji Lili was amused by her. Her act of defending herself warmed her heart. She whispered, "Don't worry, I'm fine. People are gossipy after all. They probably just want to see me sad and frustrated. Don't worry, I won't let them succeed."
"That's how it should be." Ke Sisi nodded hurriedly, not giving these people the chance to laugh at her.
Ji Lili's reaction disappointed Wu Juyue. She used to envy Ji Lili because Ji Yushu would pick her up from school and help her wrap her books, unlike her father, who didn't care about anything about her. Now that Ji Yushu was being nice to Ji Mingyue, she thought Ji Lili would be upset and heartbroken. She averted her gaze, snorted coldly, and muttered, "He's really cold-hearted."
Ji Mingyue was also somewhat surprised by Ji Lili's reaction. She had expected Ji Lili to react similarly to her high school classmate, whose parents had a second child. She couldn't accept the sudden addition of a sibling and kept making a scene at home, much to her parents' annoyance. Ji Lili had enjoyed her father's love for so many years, so she expected her to express even more discontent with her sudden appearance. However, she hadn't expected Ji Lili to accept this fact so calmly. It seemed she was even more scheming than she had imagined.
Ji Lili didn't have time to pay attention to them at the moment. She was thinking about the upcoming conversation. Would Aunt Tian be persuaded? Unfortunately, she would have to wait until she got home from evening self-study to find out.
After dinner in the evening, He Jian and Tian Shufen knocked on Ji Lili's door together. After the door opened, Ji Lili and He Jian went to school together, leaving the space to the two adults.
He Jian remained silent on the way from the cotton mill to the school. It was not until they reached the school gate that He Jian spoke up: "Ji Lili, do you think my mother would agree?"
"I don't know either." Ji Lili said truthfully. She didn't know what Aunt Tian would choose. After all, the choice was in her hands.
"That's right. We'll know tonight. No matter what decision my mother makes, thank you and Aunt Jiang for what happened today." He Jian said as he was about to bow to him again.
Ji Lili quickly reached out to stop him: "Stop, He Jian, I can't handle your gratitude."
"Okay, I'll be careful next time. If anyone talks nonsense again, remember to come to me and I'll protect you." He Jian put his hands in his pockets and looked at her like a cool guy.
"Okay, I've got that in mind. Don't worry, I won't be polite with you." Ji Lili nodded with a smile.
Arriving at the teaching building, they both returned to their respective classrooms. As soon as she sat down, she heard Ke Sisi say, "I have some bad news for you. Teacher Wang will be here tonight to discuss homework."
"Ah?" Ji Lili looked surprised.
"Yeah, he said that too many people got the homework wrong this time, so he came to explain it to us tonight." After saying this, Ke Sisi looked like she had lost all hope in life.
"Okay, think about it from another perspective. This is a manifestation of the teacher's responsibility." Ji Lili said as she took out her math book to prepare for what was to come.
The teacher's lectures at night always made people feel a little drowsy, and everyone was a little depressed. Ji Lili finally pinched the back of her hand and barely perked up.
After a self-study class ended, Ji Lili took a look at her homework book. She did not make any mistakes. Fortunately, Lao Wang did not let her go to the stage to explain her ideas today. She put the math book and homework book together in the desk. Lao Wang finally did not teach in the next class and asked the class representative to watch everyone do the exercise books.
The second self-study class could be considered a real self-study class. The only sound in the classroom was the rustling of writing. After the bell rang, Ji Lili stretched and then slowly stood up to tidy up the desk.
On the way back, Ji Lili didn't see He Jian. She guessed that he was in a hurry to go back and ask about the result. She could understand that.
After returning home, she had just finished her meal when she heard a knock on the door. She and Jiang Yulan frowned, wondering who was knocking so rudely. Just as the mother and daughter were about to step forward, they heard a male voice outside: "Jiang Yulan, come out, you shameless woman. It's fine if you divorced yourself, but now you come to instigate my wife. What are you thinking?"
The mother and daughter looked at each other, and they both guessed the identity of the person knocking on the door: Tian Shufen's husband, He Jian's father, He Jinsheng.
