Chapter 224 Escaping the Barrier

Zhao An frantically searched every corner of the house, finally finding a letter on He Niang's dressing table.

When he rushed to the location in the letter, He Niang and her child were tightly bound together and thrown onto a large rock.

He was about to step forward to save He Niang and the child when he was blocked by Mo Yan's talisman.

"Who, who is it? Who dares to hurt my child and wife?" Zhao An's eyes were bloodshot, and strange, wisteria-like patterns appeared on his face.

Li Muge appeared out of thin air in front of He Niang, and without saying a word, lifted up a large vat of oil and poured it on He Niang and the child without hesitation.

"No, no, I beg you, brother, please don't hurt my wife and children."

Zhao An guessed what Li Muge was going to do. He knelt on the ground, trembling, and kept kowtowing to Li Muge.

The life he has now is the life he has always dreamed of; he has finally achieved it and he absolutely cannot lose it again.

No, absolutely not.

He Niang loved him.

He also loved He Niang.

Two people in love must go through countless hardships and obstacles.

"Husband, please come and save me and the child! Husband!" He Niang cried out to Zhao An, her voice hoarse. "Husband, please come and save me! The child is so young, he can't die!"

Li Muge, with Mo Yan's body on her back, wore a cold expression, and the vermilion mark on her forehead was extremely conspicuous.

She threw the porcelain jar on the ground.

It shattered in front of Zhao An, and a burst of flames condensed in Li Muge's palm.

Upon seeing this, Zhao An's pupils constricted: "No, no, you can't! Please, please, spare my He Niang!"

Li Muge remained unmoved. She glanced at Mo Yan, who was hiding in the shadows, her eyelashes fluttered, and she tossed the object into the air, instantly igniting He Niang and the child.

"No, no!" Zhao An watched in agony as his lover and child died before his eyes; he was in so much pain that he felt like he was suffocating.

Amidst the raging flames, He Niang clutched her child, letting out a painful scream.

Li Muge smiled and said, "Zhao An, you're a good-for-nothing. You love He Niang so much, but what, you can't even protect your own wife and child?"

"No, that's not how it is, it's not like that at all." Zhao An held his head, his memories swirling in his mind.

He mustered all his strength and charged towards Li Muge with his ghostly power. In his eyes, this man was the one who had ruined his dream life.

Li Muge released his divine sense and engaged in a fierce battle with Zhao An in the air.

Mo Yan then gathered his magical power and, taking advantage of Zhao An's confused state of mind, tore the barrier apart in the air.

Mo Yan's throat had almost recovered, and he tried to summon Li Muge's natal spirit.

Time waits for no one. Only when Zhao An begins to doubt his own memories will there be a chance to escape.

Mo Yan focused his mind, and a faint golden light emanated from his forehead.

A pure white dragon appeared before him.

Mo Yan grabbed the dragon's horns and climbed onto the dragon's back.

He piloted the dragon to Li Muge's side and extended his hand to her: "Li Muge, it's time, let's go quickly."

"Okay." Li Muge didn't have time to think about it. How could Mo Yan control a dragon? She placed her hand on Mo Yan.

Mo Yan pulled back his arm, and Li Muge sat behind him.

Within the black barrier space, a white dragon soared through the sky.

The torn space emerged, emitting a faint light.

"You think you can leave? No way! You two scoundrels, give me back my wife and child's lives!" Zhao An raised his hand, his palm facing the crack.

They planned to use their ghostly power to repair the crack, leaving Li Muge and Mo Yan with nowhere to escape.

"Husband." He Niang's gentle voice sounded behind Zhao An.

Zhao An turned around in disbelief.

"He Niang, why are you still alive? Weren't you supposed to have been burned to death?"

Zhao An pressed his head down: "Where's the child? How is the child?"

He suddenly flew to He Niang's side and hugged her tightly: "Where are the children, He Niang? I'm taking you away from here, and our family will live a peaceful life."

He Niang laughed: "Husband, before you do that, would you like to take a look at my face first?"

Zhao An released He Niang in confusion and looked at her face.

He Niang smiled gently, then the skin on her face began to peel off, and blood kept seeping from her eyes.

"What... what happened? He Niang, how did you become like this?" Zhao An pressed his head, recalling the scene of him killing He Niang with his own hands.

But he refused to believe it, and even blamed everything on Li Muge and Mo Yan.

"It's all their fault, those damned dogs. It's all because of them that you died. Aunt He, the three of us will still live happily together."

He Niang shed tears of blood.

"Zhao An, you beast, you only ever believe what you want to believe, and you never care about what others think."

Holding a dagger, He Niang approached Zhao An step by step: "Zhao An, did we ever truly love each other?"

"Did you fall in love with the real me?"

"Or is this He Niang you've just imagined?"

"No, we are in love. He Niang is the one you keep saying you love her." Zhao An's mind felt like it was going to explode, and the scene of meeting He Niang kept flashing through his mind.

When He Niang and Li Muge shattered Zhao An's illusions with the most cruel pain.

Zhao An was then startled to realize that, in his memory...

He and He Niang never exchanged more than ten words.

But where did his fond memories of He Niang come from?

"No, that's impossible. He Niang, you like me. You don't like my face because of it. Now that my face is healed, you can like me now."

"He Niang, shall we go back to how things were before?" Zhao An knelt on the ground, breaking down in tears, pleading in his voice.

He Niang felt a sense of irony in her heart.

"Zhao An, you keep saying you love me, yet you ruin my reputation. You will always believe only what you imagine."

He Niang gritted her teeth in hatred. She had been ruined by such a person her whole life. She was unwilling to accept it. If she really was the heartless person Zhao An described who had abandoned him.

She would have accepted it, but she didn't; she hadn't done anything.

Zhao An, that disgusting man, always puts himself in the position of the weak.

To slander others.

He Niang brushed her hair aside and suddenly plunged the dagger into Zhao An's chest.

This dagger is inscribed with a spell that can kill ghosts and spirits.

"Zhao An, think about it carefully again. Did we really love each other?"

"No, no, but I really like you, He Niang." Zhao An raised his hand, wanting to touch He Niang's body one last time.

He Niang kicked Zhao An away, and the crack widened, with sunlight shining on He Niang.

She was finally free.

The soul dissipated in the sunlight.

"No, He Niang." Zhao An fell to the ground; the talisman had already begun to take effect.

Purple flames burned inside his body.

He fell to the ground, his eyelids drooping: "I'm sorry, Mother He. If there is an afterlife, I will definitely make it up to you."
