Chapter 164

Of the three, only Meng Liangchen dreamed of the so-called 'monster' and his Crimson Lotus.

If it were just Xu Qian himself, he might be able to understand it, but how could others also dream of his Crimson Lotus, and the scene was so bizarre...

Thinking of this, Xu Qian suddenly had an idea. He had once heard his master say that there are thousands upon thousands of small worlds, and each small world exists independently. To put it more bluntly, they are parallel worlds.

Parallel worlds...

"Knock knock—dinner's ready," Xiaoqing said from the doorway.

"They're here." Xu Qian put the flowers back in the cabinet, closed the door, and then walked out of the bedroom.

When they arrived in the living room, Meng Liangchen was much better. He said the bump on the back of his head had gone down.

"It's good that it's gone down. Let's eat first, and you can also try your brother's cooking." Xu Qian was referring to Meng Ziqiu, who cooked today. Although it was not as good as his own cooking, the taste was still acceptable.

"Mmm," Meng Liangchen obediently replied.

Before going to bed that night, Xu Qian checked Meng Liangchen's wounds again. They were mostly healed, so he told him to get some rest.

“Um, Brother Xu…” Meng Liangchen hesitated for a moment, but in the end he didn’t say anything. “You should get some rest too.”

"Go to sleep, don't think too much, it's all in the past." Xu Qian reached out and ruffled the other's hair, then placed a sleep-aiding sachet beside his pillow.

After coming out, Xu Qian did not go back immediately because he saw Meng Ziqiu sitting alone on the balcony smoking.

"Can't sleep?" Xu Qian pulled up a chair and sat down.

Was that really a dream?

Xu Qian saw confusion and a hint of doubt in the other person's eyes.

"Have you heard of the parallel universe theory?" Xu Qian asked before he could reply, and began to explain, "There are gaps in spacetime. For example, in this spacetime, we are sitting on the balcony talking, but in another spacetime, we don't even know each other. Maybe I'm still on Chang'ai Mountain, or maybe... somewhere else."

Meng Ziqiu did not respond after hearing this, perhaps because he was processing the statement.

Only after he finished smoking did Meng Ziqiu speak, asking him, "And what about you? What did you dream about?"

"I dreamt of... the sea." That dark, deep sea, that grave buried deep beneath the waves.

Meng Ziqiu didn't press further about why it was the sea; he was just... a little sad, inexplicably sad.

Xu Qian noticed his expression and continued, "But the second time was in a neighborhood, and I had a cat with me."

"A cat?" Meng Ziqiu looked up.

“Yes, a black and white calico cat, very hardy…” Xu Qian laughed as he spoke.

"That's what domestic cats are like. I had one when I was a kid, but it was an orange tabby..."

The two chatted about cats for a while, and the atmosphere eased considerably.

As it grew late, Xu Qian got up and told everyone to go to bed. Although it was a holiday, they shouldn't stay up too late.

"Brother Xu, you should get some rest too."

"good."

Xu Qian stood still, and only after seeing Meng Ziqiu return to her bedroom did he open the door and go in.

The moment he closed the door, Xu Qian thought to himself that he wasn't exactly lying; there really was a cat with him, but this 'he' wasn't him.

The short annual leave passed in the blink of an eye, and the group returned to their daily routine of getting up early and leaving late.

On the third day after the holiday, the recording of the first episode of "Who's the Murderer Season 4" was officially scheduled.

After finishing his breakfast, Yan Lang wiped his mouth. The noodles he ate for breakfast, even though they were only slightly spicy, still made his face turn bright red.

“There’s milk on the cabinet,” Xu Qian pointed to the entryway cabinet in front of him.

"Hehe." Yan Lang didn't stand on ceremony, because he really needed milk to neutralize his body right now.

Upon seeing this, Xu Qian couldn't help but fall back into his professional habit and started rambling on again, "If you can't handle spicy food, just eat clear soup. Be careful not to force yourself and get diarrhea."

"Yes, yes, yes." Yan Lang nodded in response, but next time it's still necessary!

On the way to Sanjiang, the group chat of the fourth season of the detective show was bustling with activity. Several regular hosts remained the same, but among the guests was a familiar face to Xu Qian—Qiao Xinhuan, a female model he had worked with once before.

"Brother Xu," Qiao Xinhuan greeted him with a smile.

"You're here so early." Xu Qian returned the smile. He was only slightly familiar with Qiao Xihuan among them; the others were colleagues he had never met before.

"You're here pretty early too."

"Let's go together, and we can also say hello to Teacher Yao and the others." Xu Qian nodded forward.

"Okay, sure," Qiao Xinhuan replied demurely.

The two appeared in the backstage dressing room one after the other. Teacher Yao noticed them immediately and quickly called them in.

"Xiao Xu, Qiao Qiao! Hey, come quick!"

"Did you come together?" Teacher Yao asked casually.

Qiao Xinhuan shook her head. "No, we just bumped into each other outside."

Teacher Yao glanced at Qiao Xinhuan without saying a word, but smiled and chatted with Xu Qian.

Just as they were chatting happily in the lounge, another group of people arrived. They were also guests participating in the recording of the show, consisting of three men and one woman.
