Chapter 2 Wheelchair Racing

Chen Jing rubbed his brows. He had a good grasp of the situation now, but it was giving him a headache. He was actually wondering what the new admiral would choose in the end.

Normally, the committee would assign a ship to be the starting ship. Could this class have some benefits?

Wait... the marshal is dead, but his power is not dead. This man is so powerful that he could even force the committee to pass his proposal.

A super fleet consisting of fifteen battleships couldn't possibly vanish overnight, so the committee must be trying to dismantle this force. The best way to do that would be to distribute it to different locations and hand it over to a bunch of brainless people. For example, the worst admiral in the history of the empire.

Thinking about it this way, there are a lot of treasures in there. If I can pick the battleship, then at least in the human territory, I can live like a mutant crab, walking sideways or vertically as I want.

But they've already picked half of it...

"Ahhhhh!" Chen Jing hurriedly put on his clothes.

But the distance from here to the pier is extremely far, fortunately he can take the transportation system.

In other words—a souped-up version of the subway, as we've all heard before. Running through tubes, it reaches speeds of several Machs. Generally speaking, while an admiral isn't a top official, he still has his own car. Chen Jing's original self, however, was practically impoverished. All his clothes were rationed, and his food was largely rationed. Without this job, he couldn't even support himself.

But there was still a nephew to take care of at home. Moreover, this guy was causing trouble outside every day, but Chen Jing had no time to take care of him, so he could only entrust an organization called "City Public Welfare Society" to take care of him and then pay them money.

According to the notes, the child's parents were killed by Li He's creation. Chen Jing was his last relative. Chen Jing's original intention was clear: to send him to school as soon as he received the first payment.

[Sooner or later, I will bite the group owner to death: Newcomer, come out and chat. ]

Chen Jing was stunned. This software actually opened by itself and even gave forced reminders.

He picked it up [Pigeon Mirror: Why are you so idle all day long? ]

[Sooner or later, I'll bite the group leader to death: Why don't you try being tied to a big rock?] Tied to a big rock...

[Pigeon Mirror: How do you use your phone when you're tied up?]

[Sooner or later, I'll bite the group leader to death: I still have clones, a tongue, a group of followers, and divine power, so why can't I play?] Okay, late stage.

Chen Jing frowned, zipped up his belt, and walked out. He realized that the small room he'd just been in was actually his original body's entire dormitory. Beyond the door, he found himself in the living quarters of the Astral Fortress. Because the Astral Fortress was such an important stronghold, it had accommodations for staff, unlike some warships, which housed only omnics.

For the first time, the vast universe revealed its majestic presence to Chen Jing, a villager. It was like a painting painted with the most extreme colors, vibrant yet profound and serene. It was the most dangerous abyss, yet also the most beautiful work of art. And there was a layer of pale blue shield.

"...but which way does it go?"

Suddenly, a voice came from my ear: "Hello, I am the city management assistant, Mr. Admiral, where are you going?"

Chen Jing then remembered this thing, an artificial intelligence system for facilitating travel. Generally speaking, it was used for transportation services, but he was now considered a minor official.

"Uh... go pick a site for the battleship."

"Planning the route to... the evaluation site." Generally speaking, new admirals have to pass a test at the end, which is to evaluate the person's combat capabilities to avoid assigning a rookie to an important position.

Then, a red light strip appeared in front of Chen, pointing to the freight elevator on the other side of the corridor. It could be seen from here.

“???” Chen Jing looked confused.

"This is the quickest route. You're already half an hour late."

Only then did Chen Jing believe it and ran to catch up with the light strip.

Then, he was transported to the dock in a freight elevator at at least twice the speed of sound. Upon descending, he leaned against the wall and tried to vomit, but a trash can omnic, already waiting in front of him, had received the command. Chen Jing suppressed his urge to vomit.

There must be more than one dock in the astral fortress, but it looks particularly lively here now. All kinds of supplies are packed and sent onto the ship. After all, most of the admirals have already picked them out, and this is their last thing to do here. They can leave after that.

Chen Jing looked up and saw several huge warships. Each of them gave people the feeling that it was no smaller than a stellar fortress. Chen Jing was probably the only one here who knew that this was not an illusion, because a stellar fortress was also a kind of battleship.

The problem is, most of them are probably already taken, and the best I can get is a frigate.

But this place is still some distance away from the evaluation area, and the auxiliary system has no time to take care of it now.

Chen Jing had no choice but to run. After a few steps, he realized that this body was unexpectedly strong. This might have something to do with the completion of the human genetic optimization project.

"Hey! Do you want me to give you a ride?" someone asked. Chen Jing was certainly willing to give someone a ride.

I quickly replied: "Hurry up! I'm going to be late."

A wheelchair pulled up to him. The red-haired girl smiled and said, "Hurry up and get in. There's no time to explain."

The girl looked a little malnourished and thin, but her eyes were pure with a hint of cunning. The car she drove seemed to be a gravity-suspended wheelchair that she had modified herself.
