Chapter 23 The Assassin

A transfer station, a space building generally used to connect long-distance jumps, is very important for two points that are far apart.

This transit station is located outside the core area and connects many important areas, including Chen Jing's future base.

Because it is a transit center, its economy is developing very well, its infrastructure is complete, and its business is relatively normal. It is one of the few fortress cities with entertainment facilities.

The night before Chen Jing arrived, a terrible incident happened here. The captain of the garrison was assassinated.

"Andre, this is the target information." Cheng Mulin slapped the file bag on the table.

Mary was lying on the sofa with her feet up, looking at an outdated fashion magazine. "Boss, aren't you here to see your uncle this time?"

Cheng Mulin nodded. "Uncle, we have to see it and do the job. This operation is to cover up Project X. We must succeed, not fail."

"How many years have you two not seen each other?" Mary asked persistently.

Cheng Mulin frowned. "Stop talking nonsense and get ready for action. My uncle will be arriving tomorrow with his own fleet. You don't think we can fight a fleet head-on, do you?"

"Are there capital ships?"

"According to the information provided by the intelligence room, it is a Guardian-class battleship, and there are also additional Hero-class tactical units."

"Tsk tsk tsk, the configuration of the core area!" The last time they ambushed such a fleet, they almost ended up dying.

"The goal is simple, captain of the garrison." The garrison is usually composed of simple intelligent machines and untrained human soldiers. Under normal circumstances, this kind of transit station relies on the Weirong Army branch.

Although the Guards were formidable, they were still much better than the Admiral's main fleet. Furthermore, they specialized in assassinations, not assaults, so they only considered their top-tier capabilities. The Guards rarely had officers of rank seven, with the most being rank six. The difference between these two ranks was enormous.

"Don't underestimate the enemy." Cheng Mulin reminded.

"Boss, your uncle's name is Chen Jing, and you are Cheng Mulin, aren't they different?" Mary still didn't intend to let her boss go.

Cheng Mulin's mouth twitched as he explained, "Because I changed my identity, he didn't want to implicate him because of me."

"The main fleet, the big shot, maybe your uncle will be useful in the future."

Andre also nodded.

Cheng Mulin touched his chin and nodded slightly. "It depends on tomorrow's contact. If he is loyal to the Crisis Committee, then forget it. But generally speaking, admirals are not friendly to the committee, and the committee is always wary of them, especially since the war is over. Sooner or later, the two sides will fight."

"Do we have to mobilize so many troops to assassinate a second-class lieutenant tonight?" Mary stretched.

They are one of the three core members of the organization and are the district leaders. Their levels are all above five. Cheng Mulin has even reached level seven, a rare genius that only appears once in a century. He is only seventeen years old.

"Well, he'll be attending a banquet tonight and will do it on his way back." Cheng Mulin said, pointing to the bomb on the table: "Use this."

"Why not be more direct and use your and my abilities to bomb that area? That way, Mary can confirm the results of the battle, and we can have a good fight with the lackeys of the Weirong Army." Andre was very stupid.

Cheng Mulin held his forehead with his hand. "I have to see my uncle tomorrow. Do you want us to meet in ruins? Not to mention that the Imperial mobile forces may arrive within 20 minutes. How can I explain to the higher-ups if the destruction is so severe? We are fighting for the people. We cannot wantonly destroy infrastructure."

Cheng Mulin put on his glasses and said, "To be on the safe side, Mary will go on the mission, you will take over, and I will be responsible for the emergency response."

"Got it~" the two replied.

It's really worrying.

Thomas, the captain of the garrison and a second lieutenant, walked into the tavern.

Although the memorandum stated that he was going to attend the banquet, as a rough man, he didn't like to attend that kind of thing, where a group of strange people gathered together to talk about inexplicable things. They were clearly eating and drinking wine exchanged for a few contribution points, but they were still worrying about the crisis committee, saying that the layout here was not good, what happened with that incident, it was not right to do this, and it was inhumane to do that.

Sooner or later he will be purged.

Thomas was different. His secret to success was to do more and talk less. Talking was useless, and talking too much could easily lead to trouble. Being transferred to this remote area without any background, he faced cults, terrorists, rebels, and insurgents every day. If he didn't work harder, his promotion would be in jeopardy.

As a human being, there's nothing wrong with trying harder. Thomas consoled himself with this, nodded, and then hugged a familiar creature, a melaphile with the ability to transform and a low level of danger. Thomas loved it most when it transformed into a star on a promotional poster and they took photos together.

Today was a pleasant day, too. Holding the woman he loved in his arms, he watched his colleagues envy him through his communicator, and even had free drinks to drink, praising alien slavery.

"..." Cheng Mulin patted Mary's shoulder: "I'm thinking about whether we should win over the foreign slaves."

"Their enemy is the human race as a whole. We can't win them over."

"What about the promise of granting citizenship after the success?"

"Are you crazy? No one else would let you do this." After Mary said this, she found that Cheng Mulin didn't listen at all and continued to think in his own way.

"Okay, okay, I should take action."

"Be careful, he's not an ordinary person."

"Don't worry, is that possible? If he were level seven, he would have been transferred to the core area long ago."

Chen Jing looked at the intelligent robot that came to greet her. There was a wound on her right cheek, and the contents inside had already flowed out.

"Are you okay?"

"Thank you for your concern, General. I'm fine."

"General?" Chen Jing looked at RT5.

RT5 nodded: "Your official rank is general, because... you know." It is for the convenience of Chen Jing to establish a system there to connect to the imperial power network in the future.

"Yes, I understand."

Fenrir jumped up: "I don't understand!"

"You don't need to understand." Chen Jing smiled. The dog was so cute.

Then Chen Jing looked at the two little girls behind Fenrir and was instantly filled with helplessness.

If Fenrir is the size of a junior high school student, her two direct descendants are elementary school students, at most in the sixth grade.

Among a group of officers in uniform, three little kids make you feel the drama.

Fenrir saw Chen Jing looking at his children, and he smiled. He pushed the two children into Chen Jing's arms and said, "Call me brother."

Skull nodded and said obediently, "Hello, brother."

Hati looked at Chen Jing with disdain, then looked at Fenrir with a guilty conscience. After a moment of hesitation, he looked at Loki and said timidly, "Brother."
