Chapter 11 I Want to Repay Him
the next day.
Huo Xingzhou's villa became much quieter.
Seeing that things were back on track, Du Juan and Huo Jiancheng moved out of their son's villa. They also forcibly took Huo Sijiao away, not wanting her to be a third wheel, but to give the young couple space to get along.
As soon as they left, Qiao Xi could focus on treating Huo Xingzhou.
The room was quiet. The man sat in a wheelchair, a long needle stuck in his ankle. His eyes followed Qiao Xi, watching her busying around, her lips pursed in a sullen manner.
Very silent.
"Joe..." He just said one word.
Qiao Xi turned on the LCD TV, but the sound of the TV drowned out his voice, making him feel suffocated.
Little girl, you have a really bad temper.
Huo Xingzhou stared at her back, frowning. His long, white fingers clenched the bed sheet tightly, and a look of pain flashed across his face. "Hiss...it hurts."
Qiao Xi turned around and panicked when she saw his expression. "Where does it hurt? Acupuncture point... Ouch! Let go, you're going to press on the needle!"
Huo Xingzhou pulled her into his arms and she sat astride his thighs.
"Let go after you've finished talking, or you'll run away again."
His hands easily wrapped around her waist.
Qiao Xi's eyelashes trembled, her ears were red, and her lips were stained rosy red. She had never been so close to a man before.
"You avoided me last night and you're sulking again this morning." His hand unconsciously stroked her lower back, causing Qiao Xi to shudder.
"You don't believe me and insist on exchanging the project for it." She knew she had no right to be angry, but she couldn't help it.
That was his hard work and the only way for the second house to turn things around.
"Of course I believe you."
His deep voice rang in her ears, "Zhuo Feng was sent by the eldest wife to harm me, and I also gave that project to the eldest wife on purpose. It's because I trust you that I think you can play this role with me."
The anger in Qiao Xi's heart was calmed.
"What play?"
"Don't show off your superb medical skills until I can stand up." His voice was calm and his handsome face was particularly clear.
What's so clever about that?
Qiao Xi lowered her head, her skin was as white as snow.
"Then Young Master Sun..."
"You're a medical student, so you can certainly treat common illnesses. But my legs are in a state of extreme illness, a death sentence. Many experts and academicians are powerless to help."
"Okay, I understand." Qiao Xi nodded obediently. As long as her medical skills were not too publicized, it would be fine.
Seeing how cute she was, Huo Xingzhou smiled.
He suddenly remembered the nonsense Zhou Yu had said last night. His Adam's apple rolled and he licked his lips gently. In the end, he swallowed the question.
Qiao Xi blushed and pushed his chest, "Let go first, I'm going to remove the needle."
Huo Xingzhou's brows were cold and his heartbeat was unusual.
Qiao Xi squatted down, twisting the needle with her fingers and pulling it out quickly. She could feel the burning gaze above her head, unable to escape, and her cheeks turned even redder.
There was a sound coming from the LCD TV mounted on the wall.
"Our reporter visited the Xingyue Foundation. Since its establishment, it has helped hundreds of out-of-school children complete their studies and funded thousands of families. But the founder behind it has never appeared in public. We..."
Qiao Xi was fascinated by what she heard, and recalled that Huo Sijiao seemed to have mentioned the Xingyue Foundation before.
Her eyes sparkled as she looked up at Huo Xingzhou and said, "I am also funded by the Xingyue Foundation."
"My family was very poor before and couldn't even afford tuition. But a kind-hearted person sponsored all the children in Moon Village, which enabled me to go to school. I have always wanted to find that kind-hearted person."
Huo Xingzhou's eyes were complicated, and he asked, "What do you want to do with him?"
"Repay a favor."
Her eyes and eyebrows were as delicate as a pool of autumn water, gentle and bright, and they saw straight into his heart.
Huo Xingzhou had never imagined that his impulsive action would become a ray of light in someone else's life. He was so bewitched that he lost his mind and reached out to stroke her soft hair.
As if they were electrocuted, the two were stunned, and the ambiguity grew in silence.
"Mr. Huo, are you..." that person?
Before Qiao Xi could finish her words, she was interrupted by a knock on the door.
Knock knock.
Several sounds in a row.
"Young Master, the Sun family is here." Aunt Qian shouted from outside.
"knew."
He responded, and Qiao Xi quickly tidied his clothes, "I'll push you down."
The hand, white as a scallion, fell on the wheelchair. Huo Xingzhou felt a long-lost throbbing in his heart, but he suppressed it forcefully, blaming Zhou Yu for all those nonsense he had said.
In the living room.
Mrs. Sun looked around and felt relieved when she didn't see that crazy woman Dujuan.
"Mrs. Sun, our wife has moved back home and doesn't live here anymore." Aunt Qian was smart and knew what she was thinking. The two wives had always been at loggerheads with each other since they were young.
Sun Weimeng laughed out loud: "Mom, you are so strong and muscular, and you are afraid of her."
"You useless thing! What are you talking about!"
Mrs. Sun was so angry that she slapped him on the back a few times. Her back was so round and smooth!
"Ouch, that hurts!"
When Qiao Xi and Huo Xingzhou arrived in the living room, they saw Young Master Sun crying out in pain. She coughed lightly a few times, and the mother and son looked over.
"Second Master Huo, Young Madam."
Mrs. Sun called out in a dignified and polite manner. Sun Weimeng's cheeks turned red when he saw Qiao Xi, and he whimpered and couldn't utter a word.
"Thanks to the young lady for saving my son, otherwise the consequences would be unimaginable. I came here today to express my gratitude." Mrs. Sun directly handed over a check for 500,000 yuan. She was really rich.
Qiao Xi quickly waved her hands, "It was just a piece of cake for me. Anyone would save her."
"You don't want to accept it because you think it's too little?" It seemed that as long as Qiao Xi said "yes", she could immediately increase it to five million.
Huo Xingzhou knew the Sun family's ways, and how they loved to use money to smack people. He took the check and put it in Qiao Xi's hand.
"Since it's given to you, just accept it. Young Master Sun's life is worth a thousand gold, what is five hundred thousand." Huo Xingzhou's voice was cold, his eyes were dark, and he looked domineering.
Young Sun hid behind him, looking at his legs again and again. Rumors were rife that Huo Xingzhou was dying, and Young Sun felt sympathetic, feeling that they shared the same suffering.
"What are you looking at?" Huo Xingzhou said coldly.
Young Master Sun cautiously probed, "Huo Er, are you really dying? Then... wouldn't that be unfair to Qiao Xi, leaving her as a widow? But she's a skilled doctor, so she should be able to cure you, right?"
"What nonsense are you talking about!"
Mrs. Sun wanted to smash his mouth.
"Oh my." Young Master Sun ran around holding his head. "I just wanted to ask Qiao Xi to treat me. She pricked me with that one shot and I woke up. Maybe with two more injections, I'll be fine!"
Which man wants to have a hidden illness? He has been ridiculed by the upper class of Haicheng for too many years.
"Beat me to death, I don't want to live anyway. If a man can't do it, what hope is there! I've taken so many medicines but it won't get better." Sun Shao sat on the ground and threw a tantrum, his eyes becoming more and more moist as he spoke.
Mrs. Sun felt distressed, and the mother and son hugged each other and cried bitterly.
Aunt Qian tried to persuade her for a long time, but it was no use. She could only stare helplessly.
Qiao Xi bit her teeth lightly, her watery eyes filled with embarrassment. She stretched out her finger and hooked Huo Xingzhou's arm. The man took it and stroked her smooth hand with his fingertips.
Finally, he wrote two words on the palm of her hand with his fingers.
