Chapter 11 Buying Land

In the afternoon, Wang Yu came to the restaurant to settle the bill as usual. As soon as he entered the side door, he saw the waiter directing people to bring in jars of wine.

The waiter also saw Wang Yu and said, "Mr. Wang is here. A batch of wine has arrived today. Mr. Wang will record it later."

Wang Yu nodded and said "OK," looking at the wine jar thoughtfully. His family ran a winery, and although modern technology was used, he also knew the traditional winemaking methods. He had been thinking about how to make money to prepare for the trip to the provincial capital. The wine should be good. He was an accountant and knew how much wine the restaurant sold every day, so the profit was considerable. He said to the waiter, "Send me a glass later so I can try it."

"Okay, Mr. Wang can drink too."

"Try what it tastes like!"

After a while, the waiter brought a glass of wine. Wang Yu tasted the wine sent by the waiter. The wine here has not been distilled twice, so the alcohol content is relatively low and the taste is not as good as their wine. The wine business is indeed worth doing!

On the way back, I thought about where to make wine. My own yard is too small to do it. Suddenly, I remembered that my husband's house is at the foot of the mountain, some distance away from the village, and there is a large area next to it where I can build a winery. Thinking this way, my husband's house is indeed suitable. Now that the address problem has been solved, I feel much lighter on my way back.

When he got home and discussed the matter with his parents and husband, everyone was surprised that Wang Yu could actually make wine. Wang Yu told them that he had read a method in a book and it should be possible.

Wang's father knocked on his pipe and said, "Okay, if you think it's okay, we support you!"

Since he had the support of his family, Wang Yu decided to give it a go. At night, Cheng Chen and Wang Yu were chatting while going to bed, and she said, "My husband is amazing! He can even make wine!"

"What if it doesn't brew?" Wang Yu scratched his nose with amusement.

Cheng Chen grumbled in dissatisfaction, asking why her husband couldn't brew wine. Wang Yu was somewhat pleased to hear Cheng Chen's confidence in himself, so he said, "Whatever Achen says is true. Once the winery is built, let my father-in-law and my eldest brother work there. Hunting in the mountains is too dangerous. It's better to save some money and buy some land, which will provide stability."

Cheng Chen hadn't expected her husband to have made arrangements for his family members when building a winery. Her eyes welled up as she buried her head in her husband's arms and asked in a low voice, "Do we have the money to build a winery?"

Wang Yu didn't expect that his words would make her husband cry. She patted his back and said, "Don't worry about the money. Besides, your family is also my family. It's my duty to do this. It's late, let's go to bed."

After saying that, he hugged the person in his arms again.

The next day after school at noon, Wang Yu smuggled two kilograms of white wine into a wine jar before going to the restaurant. The wine jar was one liter, and one liter could hold about two kilograms of wine. He found the manager Zhang and asked him to drink the wine he brought.

Zhang Guanshi was also a drinker, so he poured a glass without hesitation. After drinking it, he felt that the wine had a mellow taste, smooth in the mouth, and rich aroma. It was the best wine! He handed the glass to Wang Yu and said, "Come on, pour another glass!"

Wang Yu knew he liked it when he saw him like this, so he poured a glass and said, "Manager Zhang, this jar of wine is for you."

"Okay, okay, don't call me Manager Zhang. Call me Uncle Zhang from now on!" After drinking the second glass of wine, he reached out and took the wine jar.

Wang Yu got to the point of the day and asked, "Uncle Zhang, can this wine be sold in the restaurant?"

"Oh, this wine is from your house?"

"Well, the boy can brew it."

"Really? As long as you brew it, our restaurant will buy it. We'll take whatever you want. Our boss has businesses elsewhere, so we're not afraid of running out of food." Manager Zhang sniffed the wine jar in his hand, then looked at Wang Yu and said, "Uncle Zhang won't cheat you. This wine is of high quality. I'll give you 70 coins per jar."

"Okay, thank you, Uncle Zhang. However, wine with this taste needs to be stored for at least a year. Wine produced in half a year is also very good, but it's not as mellow as this one."

"Okay, good wine is never too late! I want half a year's supply, fifty cents a jar." Manager Zhang thought that next year would also be fine, as it would be the boss's father's birthday, and this wine could be offered to him.

Wang Yu did the accounting and found out that the most expensive wine supplied to the restaurant was only thirty cents a jar, and his wine could be sold for fifty cents, so he agreed to what Manager Zhang wanted. After talking to Manager Zhang, Wang Yu took two days off to prepare for the winemaking.

Wang Yu returned home immediately and took Cheng Chen to Xiling Village to discuss the matter with his father-in-law. Knowing that Wang Yu could make wine and would bring them along, the Yue family agreed to do it even though they didn't need to pay any money, just the labor. If the wine was successful, they would also have an income.

Cheng Yang said, "Okay, brother-in-law, I'll take care of the winery construction, and you just need to give me your opinions!"

Wang Yu had his own idea for building a winery, so he needed to draw up some blueprints. He told Brother Cheng that he would bring the blueprints in a couple of days. He also asked Brother Cheng to find someone to build the house. He then asked, "Is anyone interested in the land next door?"

Cheng Yang: "Probably not. I'll take you to ask the village chief later."

While Wang Yu was discussing with Brother Cheng, Cheng Chen was also talking to his mother. Mother Cheng sighed in her heart that Chen'er had married a good man, a promising scholar who was willing to take care of his wife's family.

Mother Cheng took Cheng Chen's hand and said earnestly, "Achen, the Wang family is very good. You have to live well with your uncle, okay?"

Seeing Cheng Chen nod and say he understood, Cheng's mother looked at his stomach again and asked cryptically, "By the way, about what I told you last time, are you still in harmony?"

Cheng Chen's cheeks flushed red. He didn't expect his mother to ask directly! He stammered, "My husband said I'm still young, there's no rush!"

Hearing this, Cheng's mother also knew that giving birth to a child at such a young age would be painful, but she didn't expect her brother-in-law to be so considerate of her. She said, "Your husband is a caring person, but it's more reassuring to have a child by your side."
