In the end, the emperor's side won. After it was confirmed, the emperor was visibly in a much better mood and left Wang Yu alone.
The Emperor said, "Things have already been arranged in Dingzhou. When you get there, go directly to Commander-in-Chief Xue Hai. He is in charge of all matters concerning Dingzhou's naval warships."
Wang Yu nodded: "Yes, Your Majesty."
The emperor looked at Wang Yu and said in a low voice: "Xiuzhi, the affairs of the Dongyi are now in your hands. Don't let me down."
Wang Yu bowed his head and said, "Yes, Your Majesty."
Not long after Wang Yu returned, the emperor issued an edict to promote Wang Yu to the position of governor of Dingzhou, and he took office in the spring.
Thinking of this, Wang Yu listened to the sound of water flowing caused by the boat outside and forced himself to sleep. He would talk about it when he got there.
On the second day, the weather was good, comfortable and cool. Wang Yuchengchen held his second baby on the deck to bask in the sun. The boat was moving relatively fast with the current.
Occasionally, there are birds flying in the sky. When Erbao sees them, he will point at them and say "ah ah". At this time, he can't speak very well. He can only call "daddy" and his pronunciation is not very standard.
Cheng Chen would hold him and teach him that these are birds, fish, trees, and water. He taught Erbao a lot of new things along the way, and Erbao also liked to play on the deck.
The family of three stood on the deck, watching the scenery receding before their eyes. Cheng Chen took a deep breath. They were going to another place, but no matter where they went, her husband would be by her side.
Looking sideways at Wang Yu's profile, his husband seemed to have been an official for several years. When he was silent, he became more serious and majestic, no longer the weak scholar he used to be.
Wang Yu felt Cheng Chen's gaze fixed on her face. She held Erbao in one hand and Cheng Chen's shoulders with the other. She looked down at her husband's gentle smile and asked, "Achen, why are you looking at me?"
Hearing this, Cheng Chen smiled even brighter, "I want to see it."
Wang Yu pulled her into his arms and laughed, "Then, Achen, take a good look at your husband. Isn't he handsome?"
Cheng Chen had heard the word handsome from her husband several times and knew it meant handsome and good-looking. She smiled and said, "Yes, my husband is very handsome."
The second baby in Wang Yu's arms wanted to join in the conversation, twisting impatiently in Wang Yu's arms, looking up at the flying bird and saying, "Bird, bird."
Wang Yu turned him around and saw that the little guy stopped twisting around.
The other guests who came to the deck to enjoy the scenery were very envious when they saw Wang Yu and his family of three and could tell at first glance that they had a good relationship.
The boat sailed day and night, and on the fifteenth day, the four people finally set foot on the territory of Wuzhou. After wandering on the boat for half a month, they finally felt their feet on solid ground.
Erbao was quite strong and was in good spirits after being on the boat for fifteen days. The two of them took good care of him on the boat. Erbao did not get seasick or sick. Wang Yu and Cheng Chen both breathed a sigh of relief when they got off the boat.
Wang Yu: "Let's find a nearby inn to rest first."
Cheng Chen nodded, and Wang Yu asked Zheng Shu to find a good inn to stay in and rest for two days before setting off for Dingzhou.
The people here speak with a local accent, but fortunately Wang Yu could understand them roughly, and the communication went smoothly. The innkeeper and the waiter could still speak some Mandarin.
The temperature here is higher than that in the capital. When the sun shines at noon, you only need to wear a spring shirt. It is only separated from Huzhou where Cui Hao is by a lake. However, Wang Yu has to take up his post and has no time to look for Cui Hao. He will wait for an opportunity to go there later.
By the time we settled in the inn, it was already noon.
Wang Yu: "Zheng Shu, ask the inn to bring some food up directly, and steam a bowl of egg custard. We won't have to go out to eat."
Zheng Shu nodded: "Yes, sir."
After lunch, they rested for a while, waited for Erbao to wake up, got dressed and went to Wuzhou Street for a walk. It was a water town in the south of the Yangtze River, with white walls, blue bricks and black tiles, small bridges and flowing water, and bluestone roads. It was gentle and poetic.
Walking through the cobblestone alleys and arriving at Yangze Lake, Cheng Chen looked at the scenery by the lake. It was a beautiful spring day with a gentle breeze. Many people were enjoying the spring outing. He exclaimed, "It's so beautiful here."
Wang Yu pointed to the other side of the lake. Although it was far away and nothing could be seen, he still said, "That's Huzhou, where Cui Hao serves. It's separated from Wuzhou by Yangze Lake."
A few people walked around Yangze Lake and prepared to go back. They had dinner at a restaurant in Wuzhou and tried the local special dishes, which were quite good.
Cheng Chen chopped the meat into small pieces, mixed it into the porridge and fed it to Erbao. After he finished a small bowl, he wiped his mouth and said, "Go back later and ask the kitchen if they have goat milk. Heat a bowl for Erbao."
"Okay, is Erbao full?" Wang Yu looked down at Erbao in his arms, touched his belly and asked.
Cheng Chen smiled and said, "After eating these porridge and vegetables, you should be full. You can drink some goat milk later."
When they arrived at the inn, they asked the steward, and found out that there was fresh goat milk in the kitchen, so they asked the kitchen to cook a bowl of it.
Erbao hadn't had it for more than ten days, and he really liked it. He drank it spoonful by spoonful without stopping. After drinking a bowl, he still felt it was not enough and wanted to drink more. Cheng Chen told him to buy more tomorrow.
Knowing there would be another tomorrow, he loosened his grip on Cheng Chen's clothes. Cheng Chen put down the bowl, wiped his mouth with a handkerchief and said, "Little greedy cat."
Wang Yu took the bowl and said with a smile, "How can I not be greedy? I haven't had a drink in more than ten days."
After feeding Erbao, the three of them washed up and went to sleep. Wang Yu heard a noise from the window of their room while he was half awake and half asleep. He woke up in a daze and just sat up when he saw two dark shadows flashing in. Wang Yu was so scared that he woke up instantly. Before he could say anything, a sword was put to his neck.
"Don't talk."
