Chapter 27 New Year Part 2

Before the New Year's Eve dinner, the whole village was filled with the sound of firecrackers, and their family was no exception. Wang Yu also took out a string of firecrackers and asked Cheng Chen if he was afraid of them. Did he want to try some?

Cheng Chen shook his head and stepped back, thinking of one year when he was still a child. His older brother set off firecrackers behind him and he was so scared that he started crying. His mother scolded his brother severely. After that, he was afraid of this. Later, when he grew up, he was not so afraid anymore, but he could watch from a distance, but he was still not able to light it by himself.

Seeing that he was afraid, Wang Yu did not force him. He went forward and lit it himself. The fuse with sparks suddenly flew under the firecracker. Wang Yu took a step back, and the firecracker started to crackle.

After setting off firecrackers, it is time to eat the New Year's Eve dinner. The Queen Mother prepared ten dishes to represent perfection. In the middle was a plate of fish, representing abundance every year. The other dishes included mutton soup, bone soup, sausages, bacon, vegetables, etc., filling up the table.

Father Wang drank the wine he brewed himself and thought about his son's future. This year was the most comfortable year for him.

After dinner, we stayed up all night to celebrate the New Year. There are no many entertainment activities here, so the family talked about what happened this year and preparations for the next year.

"Dad, it's the new year. Please talk to the village chief and let our winery buy grain from the villagers at the market price." The market price is higher than the price paid by grain merchants. After all, I am from Yuxi Village, so I can do something for Yuxi Village.

The king's father nodded, knowing that this was a good thing.

Wang Yu put the peeled peanuts in Cheng Chen's hand and asked him to eat them. The peanuts were grown by his family, and they only had two rows of them. He cooked them and ate them at home. They were great for entertaining guests during the Chinese New Year or as a snack.

The whole family is together, chatting and eating tea, snacks and cakes. When you hear the sound of firecrackers outside, you know it is the new year.

Wang Yu also went out to set off a string of firecrackers. He turned around and saw someone setting off fireworks in the distance, but it was too far away to see clearly. Wang Yu knew that fireworks were very expensive. A small firework cost one or two taels of silver, and he didn't know how much the big ones cost. Firecrackers were much cheaper. Ordinary farmers would buy a few strings of firecrackers to set off to create an atmosphere for the New Year.

This year's New Year's goods were all bought by Wang's father. In previous years, they only bought firecrackers and never thought of buying fireworks. Wang Yu thought that his family would also buy two fireworks to set off next year.

The Queen Mother cooked a pot of dumplings, and the four of them went back to their rooms to rest after eating, as they had to get up early the next morning to visit their neighbors.

After returning to the room and taking a quick shower, they sat on the bed. They were not sleepy anymore. They looked into each other's eyes and smiled. They could see each other in each other's eyes. This was their first year together.

"Happy New Year! Achen."

"Happy New Year, husband."

I hope that this day will come every year.

On the first day of the Lunar New Year, most villagers visit each other, but Wang Yu needs to go to pay New Year's greetings to his teacher, so he got up early and put on new clothes and shoes to usher in a new year.

After making arrangements with his family, he took the New Year gifts and went to the master's house. The master lived in Songjia Village and would return to the village during the New Year. Wang's father also went out with Wang Yu, as he also needed to go out to visit relatives and pay New Year's greetings. Cheng Chen and Wang's mother were at home to receive the visitors from the village. The table was filled with tea, fruits, and snacks.

Wang Yu first went to the town to meet up with Chen Yanwen. Song Boyan was from Songjia Village, so he could go directly to the teacher's house.

The two of them arrived at Master Song's house, and Song Boyan was there as expected. Master Song was busy during the New Year, and many people came to his house to pay New Year's greetings. After the three of them paid New Year's greetings to Master Song together, they didn't stay long. Song Boyan invited them to his house for lunch, saying that his mother wanted to thank them for taking care of him.

The group then walked to Song Boyan's house. When they opened the door, they saw a very ordinary farmyard. It was very clean and had Spring Festival couplets and window decorations posted on it.

Seeing Song's mother arranging snacks and tea on the table, Wang Yu and Chen Yanwen stepped forward to greet her: "Happy New Year, Auntie!"

"The owner?" Song's mother looked up and saw her son with two people. When Song Boyan went out in the morning, he said that two classmates would come today. She only knew that the owner of the winery was Wang Yu, but she didn't know that the classmate Song Boyan said was coming today was also Wang Yu.

Wang Yu: "Aunt, there's no need to be so formal. I'm just Bai Yan's classmate. You can just call me Wang Yu."

Song's mother quickly said, "Okay, okay, you guys sit down and have some tea, I'll go cook."

Chen Yanwen was very curious, so Wang Yu explained to him why he had invited Song's mother to work in the winery. After dinner, Chen Yanwen asked when they could go to his house for a gathering. Wang Yu needed to take Cheng Chen back to her parents' home on the second day of the Lunar New Year, so any other time would be fine!

"I can't do it. I have many relatives. It's already the sixth day of the New Year after we finish paying New Year's greetings. Where's Brother Song?" Chen Yanwen has many relatives, and it's very annoying to pay New Year's greetings every year. The elders always like to compare him with others. His cousin from his uncle's family passed the imperial examination and became a scholar. Every year, his aunt would compare and show off in words and deeds!

Song Boyan: "I'll be free after the fourth day of the Lunar New Year."

Chen Yanwen: "How about we set the date on the seventh day?"

All three of them were fine. After having dinner at Song Boyan's house, Wang Yu and Chen Yanwen went back to their respective homes.

On the second day of the Lunar New Year, Cheng Chen woke up early in the morning and got dressed. Wang Yu saw Cheng Chen wearing the same clothes as himself. Ever since Wang Yu mentioned couple outfits, Cheng Chen has been very persistent in making couple outfits. They already have three sets. Wang Yu watched Cheng Chen take out a hairpin carved with peach blossoms from the box and put it in his hair.

Wang Yu suddenly remembered that this was the hairpin that Cheng Chen picked out for him at the jewelry store the day after he paid for the wine. He fell in love with it at first sight. It was carved with a few peach blossoms, with a unique shape and smooth lines. He thought it was very suitable for Cheng Chen at the time, and it looked really good when he wore it.

"It looks good!" This was the first time I saw him wearing it. I hadn't seen him wearing it since I brought it back to him. Cheng Chen was very happy to hear her husband's praise, although her husband always said he looked good.
