Chapter 5 Return Home 2

Perhaps because of his eagerness and joy to go home and see his relatives, Cheng Chen did not feel how far the road was and soon arrived at the village entrance. There were several women and men sitting under a sycamore tree at the entrance, picking vegetables, sewing shoe soles and chatting. They also saw them coming.

"Hey, isn't that Brother Chen? Why is he back?"

"Is that his husband next to him?"

"He looks pretty good. Is this a good omen for auspiciousness? He's not dead."

Hearing this, the lady next to him patted the old man who was speaking and said, "He should be going back to his parents' home today."

The old man curled his lips and muttered something when he heard this, but didn't say anything else.

"Brother Chen, you're back!" The aunt greeted them.

Cheng Chen nodded in response. Wang Yu also noticed their quarrel and walked over to the child next to her, took two candies and handed them to her, saying, "Take Cheng Chen home today."

The old lady saw Wang Yu handing his grandson two candies. She knew they were not cheap, but they were good things. She was happy but said, "Why are you giving them these? It's a waste. Take them back."

Wang Yu: "Auntie, just give it to the child to sweeten his mouth. It doesn't cost anything."

The child glanced at his grandmother, reached out to take the candy, and immediately ate one, his mouth widening with a smile. Seeing her grandson like this, the grandmother also smiled and said, "You should go home quickly. Your family must be waiting!"

Wang Yu: "Okay, Auntie, we'll go back first."

Cheng Chen looked at the candy his husband took out and found it was the same candy he had given him before. He thought to himself that his husband still carried candy with him, but he did not ask. He was now filled with joy at going home to see his parents. His home was at the foot of the mountain, some distance from the village, and it took about a quarter of an hour to walk there.

Only Cheng Chen's family lived at the foot of the mountain. Wang Yu saw his yard from afar. It was surrounded by stones and was relatively high. It was also relatively safe at the foot of the mountain. Wang Yu went forward and knocked on the door. A woman opened the door. When she saw Achen, her eyes instantly turned red.

"Mom!" Cheng Chen also shouted with red eyes.

Mother Cheng was so excited looking at her brother that she didn't notice there was someone standing next to her. It was only after Cheng Chen reminded her that she noticed Wang Yu. He had a slender figure and exuded a scholarly air, with smiling eyes. She saw that this person called her mother-in-law and bowed to her.

"Okay, okay, come in quickly." Mother Cheng smiled happily and stepped aside to let them in. She then shouted towards the house, "Ayang, your brother and his husband are back."

After that, a man walked out of the house, holding a two-year-old boy in his arms. He looked a little anxious. When he saw Wang Yu and Cheng Chen, Cheng Yang had never seen Wang Yu before, but he probably knew who Wang Yu was. He said, "Is it your brother-in-law? You're back. Come in and sit down."

Cheng Chen walked over, took Feifei, sat down, and asked, "Where's sister-in-law? Is she not home?"

"I'm here. I've gone to the back to pick some vegetables. Wait for me while I kill a chicken and cook for you. Ayang, please pour a cup of tea for your brother-in-law."

Cheng's mother was happy today. She had been worried these days, afraid that her brother would not be able to come home. She had been waiting anxiously at home early this morning. Now that she saw them, the stone in her heart finally fell to the ground. As she spoke, she was ready to go out.

Wang Yu: "Don't worry, mother-in-law. We'll eat here and talk about it. Achen missed you very much."

"Mom, come and sit down. These are the things your husband brought." As she said this, she took things out of the basket one by one.

Mother Cheng looked at the snacks and brown sugar on the table. It seemed that her brother-in-law was very concerned about their son Chen after he recovered. Mother Cheng was happy and her smile became even bigger.

Mother Cheng collected the things and sat down to chat with them for a while. She also talked about Father Cheng's health. When Cheng Chen learned that he was fine and needed to be taken good care of, he breathed a sigh of relief. He was most worried that his father's health would not improve.

Coming to Yue's house, one must definitely go see his father-in-law. Wang Yu stood up and said, "Let's go see my father-in-law."

Seeing this, Cheng's mother also stood up and said, "Achen, take Yu'er to see your father. I'll go prepare the meal."

Wang Yu and Cheng Chen came to the wing on the left. When they opened the door, they saw the person lying on the bed who looked somewhat similar to Cheng Yang, except that his face looked older. They both called him "Dad".

When Cheng's father saw that it was Cheng Chen who came back with someone, he thought it was Wang Yu from the Wang family. He just heard voices in the yard and knew that Cheng Chen had come back with his brother and son-in-law.

Because of this injury, Chen Ge'er asked for the marriage himself, and he felt sorry for him. Now that he saw the two of them coming together, he was only happy and no longer worried. A smile appeared on his somewhat thin face and he said, "Achen is back, you two can sit down."

"Dad, are you feeling better?" Cheng Chen stepped forward and held his father's hand. Looking at his father's much thinner body, he felt bad and his eyes turned red.

Father Cheng touched Cheng Chen's head and said, "Dad is fine. The doctor said he will be fine after resting."

These days, he was just as worried as Cheng's mother about the Wang family. He felt sorry for Cheng Chen's sensibleness and hated himself for being useless. Not only did his family run out of money after he was seriously injured, but he also had to ask his brother to go to the wedding to get money for treatment. Fortunately, everything is fine now. He felt in a good mood and felt that his body had also improved a lot.

He looked at Wang Yu again and told them that he was fine. As a man, he couldn't say anything special. Since Cheng Chen was married, she should live a good life in the Wang family and asked Wang Yu to treat her well.

Cheng Chen nodded after hearing this and said that her husband treated her very well. Wang Yu stepped forward and touched his head, thinking that it was impossible for such a good child not to treat him well, so he promised: "Don't worry, father-in-law, I will treat Achen well!"

Father Cheng looked at their interaction and felt relieved. He smiled and asked them to leave.

Cheng's mother was still cooking. Xiao Feifei was picking vegetables with her sister-in-law in the yard. Wang Yu and Cheng Chen walked over and called out to her sister-in-law. The sister-in-law shook off the vegetable leaves in her hands and smiled at Cheng Chen and the others, saying, "Achen."

Lin Cuicui looked at the two of them. She had been married for four or five years. Cheng Chen had been following her and calling her "sister-in-law" since he was in his teens. She had watched him grow up. Now she was happy to see that Cheng Chen and his brother-in-law were doing well. She asked them to come and sit down, as the meal would be ready soon.

Cheng Chen and Lin Cuicui had a good relationship, and since they were at home, he didn't hesitate to squat down and tease Feifei, saying, "Can our little Feifei help pick vegetables now?"

"What can you do? You're just making trouble." Although Lin Cuicui said this, her boy also had a smile on his face.

Xiao Feifei is also close to Cheng Chen. He is not shy even after not seeing him for a few days. Cheng Chen also held him since he was a child. He took some vegetable leaves and gave them to Cheng Chen: "Uncle, have some."

Cheng Chen took it with a smile: "Oh, Feifei gave it to me, it's awesome!"

The yard was filled with laughter. Mother Cheng put the prepared dishes into bowls, looked out from the kitchen, and saw her brother's smiling face. She felt even happier and put all her energy into preparing the meal.

After dinner, Cheng Chen was kept to talk to Cheng's mother for a while. When they sent him out, the child's eyes were red and he was very reluctant to leave. Cheng's mother was also reluctant to let him go, but she thought that Cheng Chen was already married, and it would not be appropriate for her to stay in her parents' home, so she just told them to come back when they had nothing to do.
