Chen Yanwen's family was very quick and arranged for a manager to come the day before the Dragon Boat Festival. However, there was a dragon boat race in the city during the Dragon Boat Festival, which they had not watched yet. The race was held in Taibai Lake, not far from the provincial school, so they planned to watch the race before going to deal with the shop business.
On the second day, when Wang Yu and his friends arrived, the lakeside was already full of people. There were even people standing on the trees. Some people brought their own low stools to stand and watch. Most of the children sat on their parents' shoulders and waved their hands.
There are temporary shops and stalls by the river, including some tea and food stalls. This is on the outskirts of the city, and there are no teahouses for people to visit, so people basically stand by the lake. The endless crowds of people are really spectacular.
There were too many people, so Wang Yu did not join Chen Yanwen and the others. They agreed to meet at the shop next door for tea after they had finished looking around, and then each of them would find a suitable spot to look.
Wang Yu also took Cheng Chen's hand to a place with fewer people, and squeezed in to a place with relatively few people. Otherwise, with Cheng Chen's height, he wouldn't be able to see anything standing outside. Wang Yu held Cheng Chen in his arms, fearing that others would squeeze him.
There are already more than ten prepared dragon boats in the lake, with flags of different colors flying on them, and they are ready to sprint forward as soon as the whistle blows.
The scale of the dragon boat race in the capital city is much larger than that in the county town. Hearing the cheers coming from a close distance, even Cheng Chen was excited and couldn't help but shout a few times.
Wang Yu looked down at her husband, whose cheeks were flushed with excitement. He was so adorable.
The dragon boat race ended around noon. Wang Yu and Chen Yanwen took a break in a tea shop and drank some tea to quench their thirst. The sun was a bit strong at noon, but the place was bustling with people coming and going.
"Xiuzhi, how's your shooting class going? Do you want a test?"
Chen Yanwen looked at the archery stall next to him. There were some rice dumplings of various flavors hanging on it. As long as you shot the one, it would be yours.
Then he said, "I wonder if you will be lucky enough to eat the rice dumplings shot down by Xiuzhi today."
Wang Yu was eager to try when he heard him say that, so he stood up and said, "Achen, wait until I shoot and I will give you the fragrant palm."
Cheng Chen's ears turned red, and Chen Yanwen was still cheering beside him, "Xiuzhi must do what he said, otherwise it would be so embarrassing if he didn't hit the target, haha."
Even Song Boyan next to him couldn't help laughing.
As they talked, the four of them came to the stall. Wang Yu took the bow and arrow and hung the fragrant zongzi on the top. This zongzi evolved from the tail-burning banquet of the previous dynasty. After hundreds of years of chaos, it has been passed down to the present. Zongzi is mainly made of glutinous rice, mixed with spices extracted from red fragrant flowers.
Wang Yu calmed himself and shot an arrow into the target. He heard Cheng Chen's exclamation from the side, and he felt more and more satisfied. He thought that the practice during this period was indeed useful. Just as he was thinking about whether to shoot again, he heard Chen Yanwen say, "Xiuzhi, I want to eat the meat dumpling below. Can you help me shoot it too?"
Wang Yu picked up another arrow and shot at the rice dumplings. The stall owner praised Wang Yu for his good archery skills and picked up the two rice dumplings he shot and handed them to Wang Yu.
"Hey, thanks Xiuzhi. Here are two rice dumplings. Let's share them." After saying that, he asked the stall owner to cut the rice dumplings.
"Sir, wait a moment. It would be better if you sprinkle honey on the zongzi." As he said this, he took out a jar of honey and sprinkled it on the zongzi, making the zongzi look bright red.
Wang Yu took the rice dumpling, picked up a piece and gave it to Cheng Chen to take a bite, then took a bite himself. It was cool, sweet and fragrant, refreshing.
Cheng Chen pulled Wang Yu's sleeve sheepishly and whispered, "I ate that before."
Wang Yu gave the other half of the rice dumpling to Cheng Chen, lowered his head and whispered in Cheng Chen's ear: "We are legally married, so what's wrong with eating the same piece?"
"But we are outside." Cheng Chen muttered with red ears, holding half a zongzi in his hand.
Wang Yu heard it, but knowing that her husband was shy, she did not say anything more extreme, but just asked him if it tasted good.
"Delicious." The rice dumpling is indeed delicious with honey sprinkled on it.
After drinking tea and eating rice dumplings, the four of them were not hungry anymore. They went to the pawnshop with Cheng Yanwen to pay the remaining money, and by the way, they went to the government office to get the deed done. The shop then belonged to Chen Yanwen.
They still needed to study, so the repair of the shop was handed over to the manager of Chen Yanwen's family. Wang Yu's shop also needed repairs, so Wang Yu asked Chen Yanwen's manager to help with the repairs and gave him some wages as a reward for his hard work.
I asked Brother Cheng to go back and get the profits from the winery in the past two months, so that we have money to repair the shop, and the remaining money can be used to buy cloth to make clothes.
Wang Yu didn't have time to do these things, so he let Cheng Chen and Master Su arrange the purchase of fabrics, making clothes, and hiring embroiderers. Cheng Chen also did these things very seriously. After all, the shop was opened for him by his husband, and he needed to do it well.
Wang Yu was really distressed by Cheng Chen's daily exhaustion, so he told him not to worry and to take it slow. His original intention was to give Cheng Chen something to do, but he didn't expect to tire him out.
Cheng Chen leaned in Wang Yu's arms and shook his head. "I'm not tired. I'm very happy to be able to do these things."
Wang Yu kissed the corner of his mouth and wanted to do something, but seeing that her husband was so tired, she couldn't act like a beast. She sighed and said, "Go to sleep."
When school was over in the middle of the month, Cheng Chen said that the housekeeper of the Zhang family came and asked Wang Yu to go to Baiweilou after school. Zhang Jin was looking for him, and Wang Yu thought it was probably about the wine.
Sure enough, after Wang Yu arrived, Zhang Jin said happily that the wine was brewed and tasted good. He told him that he had arranged for people to build wineries and vineyards in Qi Province and Long Province.
Wang Yu did not doubt this. Although winemaking depends 70% on raw materials and 30% on technology, his own winemaking recipe was determined after countless experiments and is definitely correct. However, he was still very happy to know that wine could be made.
Zhang Jin sighed again, "Xiuzhi, ah Xiuzhi, knowing you is such a blessing in life!"
