Thanks to Chen Yang's recent sea voyage and the rapid construction of the camp, the development level of the micro-world has reached 40% of four stars. If we speed up the progress after the New Year, it might be even faster.
Grandpa Yun also contributed a few percentage points to this development.
He traversed the desolate mountains of the eastern Loess Plateau, and when he returned before the New Year, Yun Hu, this burly man, almost burst into tears.
Grandpa Yun was disheveled, his clothes were covered in mud, dirty and tattered, he came back wearing a bearskin, and a deerskin was tied to his face for warmth. Water bags and other novel trinkets he found along the way were hanging on his body. He looked like a crazy old man.
He carried all sorts of things: deer antlers, ox horns, stones, jade pieces, medicinal herbs, and so on. Coupled with his disheveled hair and stubble, he would have been a strong contender for the position of leader of the Beggars' Sect.
When the members of the Yun family saw Old Master Yun in this state, they all felt heartbroken.
However, Chen Yang noticed that Grandpa Yun's eyes were bright, showing no signs of aging, and radiating a light that many young people lack.
"Come, come, granddaughter-in-law, I brought you some good stuff."
Grandpa Yun brushed off the Yun family's concern and happily took care of Jiang Yining.
Jiang Yining and Yun Shi's relationship was now established, and Jiang Yining was greatly favored by the Yun family, especially Old Master Yun, who frequently sent gifts to the inn. These gifts were all extremely valuable, many of them from people he had taught and his old friends. He didn't care whether Jiang Yining accepted them or not, he just stuffed them into her hands. He also brought gifts for Jiang Yining on this trip, and of course, he didn't forget Yun Shi as well.
As for the bearskin he was wearing, he simply threw it to Yunhu.
Although the bear skin was dirty and didn't look very appealing, Yunhu still happily accepted it.
He only wanted a small piece, but Grandpa Yun gave him the whole bearskin. It's just a little dirty; a wash will fix it.
Grandpa Yun shared his travel experiences with everyone, telling them how he fought with wild bears, how he ate grass roots, how he found water in the barren land, what animals he encountered, and what treasures he discovered.
Grandpa Yun's biggest discovery surprised and delighted everyone.
It turns out that the barren mountainous area that straddles the boundary between the Loess Plateau and the Tianyin Mountains is actually a dry plateau, somewhat similar to the real Northwest region, and unsuitable for human habitation.
This land, located in the eastern part of the Loess Plateau and the southern part of the Eastern Plateau, is arid, high in altitude, and sparsely vegetated, making it unsuitable for human habitation. However, this area connects with the rainforest, and the transitional zone has a lower altitude and relatively abundant water resources.
This area is not a climate anomaly zone, but simply the junction of several large regions. If we had to categorize it, it should be classified as part of the Eastern Plateau, although the two belong to two different types of plateau climates. It is a natural transition, not a forced interference from the micro-boundary.
However, in such a place, a large area of cotton grows.
With cotton, they could produce large quantities of clothing and quilts.
Although wool is better, it is not as convenient as cotton. With cotton, people can change their clothes more often. Wool is too troublesome to process and is not as convenient as cotton.
This is quite a discovery, and it's no wonder that the development of the Micro Realm has increased so much. It turns out that the old man discovered an area they had never set foot in before. Although it's not a new climate anomaly zone, it's still a major discovery.
Seeing his father's happy expression, Yun Hu felt relieved and genuinely happy for Grandpa Yun.
Although the old man didn't usually treat Yun Hu well, Yun Hu knew that it was just the old man's habitual strictness towards him. He always knew in his heart that the old man cared about him a lot, otherwise he wouldn't have reached his current position.
Most of it was due to his own efforts, but it was also inseparable from the old man's reputation and the one or two times he was helped.
After returning, Grandpa Yun didn't rest much and immediately took over the work at the fishpond.
After numerous improvements, the fishponds have now reached a considerable scale and have developed their own set of coping strategies.
Even in the dead of winter, the fish in the pond are still very happy, albeit under a thin layer of ice.
Now, the entire Chenghu Lake is frozen over, and the ice is quite thick. Normal people can walk on the ice, and skating is no problem, so the way to and from the island in the middle of the lake has become incredibly convenient.
The lake surface on the island in the middle of the lake freezes easily, probably because the lake is relatively calm.
However, it doesn't freeze every year. For example, in Chen Yang's first year, the island in the middle of the lake didn't freeze; there were just ice shards floating on the surface.
The ice skates made last year were brought out again this year, and everyone takes turns using them, so no new ones were made.
However, when Chen Yang's mother, Yang Yu, was skating, the ice suddenly cracked, and half of her foot sank into the lake. Fortunately, Chen Tianming was nearby and pulled her out in time. Otherwise, in the middle of winter, if she had been soaked, she would have easily caught a cold or even developed hypothermia.
Yang Yu only got one foot wet; she warmed herself by the lake and recovered quickly. However, the others were much more careful while skating, especially the children and the elderly.
There are still some fun things to do in winter. We've had many snowball fights, and quite a few snowmen have been built in the campsite.
The most impressive one was Yu Xuan. He specially froze a large block of ice and used his ice sculpting skills to carve a snow monster. The model was a gray ape. Every time the snow monsters passed by, they would bow their heads in submission, completely treating this ice sculpture as a deity.
In winter, fewer people from the border region are willing to go out, and most of them stay in the camp.
Moreover, everyone especially loves to eat together. They don't like each household to cook separately. Instead, they gather in groups of three or five, drink some wine, and eat some meat. It's incredibly comfortable.
Furthermore, the things one can enjoy in the micro-world are things that one can only envy in reality.
For example, the cups they use for drinking are of all kinds: handmade glass cups, ceramic cups, ox horn cups, rhinoceros horn cups, and even jade cups.
All the wines are brewed by ourselves, using ingredients from the micro-world, and they all taste great. Whether it's wheat wine, grape wine, or fruit wine, they are no worse than real wines.
Not to mention the food, the ingredients are all truly natural and pollution-free, as fresh as can be, with meat from all kinds of animals available, and the camp still has a stock of smoked meat, some of which are precious and not given to Xue Kui.
For example, the rhinoceros meat had been smoked for over a year, making it incredibly fragrant. There was also tiger, wolf, and crocodile meat. What wasn't given to Xue Kui was mostly venison, mutton, and beef, which were actually less prized.
This winter at the campsite was cold, but very comfortable. And the new year is finally approaching.
