Chapter 36 Lake Island

Without hesitation, Chen Yang jumped to a clearing on the ground. At the same time, a dark shadow darted out from the bushes to his left, grazing past Chen Yang's feet.

It was a crocodile over a meter long, its mouth open, revealing two rows of sharp fangs.

Chen Yang was covered in cold sweat; this was the first time he had come so close to death. If he had been bitten by a crocodile, the consequences would have been unimaginable.

The crocodile that he and Ye Wu planned to attack also turned towards them, both crocodiles staring at them menacingly.

"Ye Wu, climb the tree!"

Chen Yang said decisively.

Once they were up in the tree, they would be safe. Although they had a higher chance of winning in a confrontation with two crocodiles, they could also be injured or even killed as a result. It wasn't worth the risk, as their mission on this trip was not to hunt.

The two quickly climbed the tree. After observing for a while, one of the crocodiles slowly retreated back into the water, while the other climbed onto land and lay down on an open space, its eyes fixed on the two.

"Is this guy going to guard us?"

Chen Yang said, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

"Brother Yang, are you alright?"

At that moment, Jiang Yining called out from afar.

"It's okay, don't come over yet, let's finish this one first and then come over."

Chen Yang replied, slowly climbing down the tree. The crocodile hissed and slowly approached him, while Chen Yang extended his lasso.

The crocodile has a mouth, and Chen Yang slowly looped the noose around its upper jaw, then pulled hard, binding the crocodile's upper jaw.

Sensing the threat, the crocodile began a death roll, a move that terrified all creatures but ultimately led to its own demise. Its roll completely bound its mouth with the rope.

Crocodiles have one of the strongest bite forces in nature, but their jaw tension is actually quite average. Once encircled, this crocodile's most prized bite force was completely rendered useless.

"Your Grandpa Ye is here!"

Ye Wu shouted and pounced on the crocodile, pressing down on its long snout with both hands and trapping it with his legs, using all his strength to hold it down.

Seeing that Ye Wu had subdued the crocodile, Chen Yang put down his spear, took out his stubborn blade, and walked up to the crocodile.

I'm sorry.

He covered the crocodile's eyes with one hand, muttered a phrase, and then plunged the knife into the crocodile's head, ending its life.

Ye Wu breathed a sigh of relief, "I never thought I'd have to fight a crocodile one day."

The two of them dragged the crocodile onto land, and the two women also gathered around.

"Is this a crocodile? Bear Grylls said that crocodile meat has twice the protein of beef, but only half the fat. I wonder if it's any good?" Li Su'er asked curiously.

"When we get back, you can show off your culinary skills. My mouth is watering."

Ye Wu wiped his mouth and said.

Chen Yang's love of eating everywhere he goes while traveling is largely influenced by Ye Wu.

They chose a sturdy wooden stick, tied the crocodile's hands and feet together, and hung it upside down from it.

If the three people who stayed at the Xindu camp saw them carrying the crocodile back, they would be utterly shocked.

They set the crocodile aside, quickly enclosed a safe area with wood and branches, and then started a fire to boil water. They had brought some wild ginger with them on this trip, which they soaked in the water and boiled together.

"Have hot ginger tea to drink, that's happiness."

Ye Wu said with satisfaction.

In the damp swamp, a cup of ginger tea to warm you up is incredibly comforting, and with some dried meat and fruit, it's practically a picnic.

After eating and drinking their fill, the four set off again.

After walking for only half an hour, Chen Yang and his group noticed that the surrounding vegetation was noticeably sparser and the sunlight was much stronger.

This greatly boosted their morale.

Ye Wu and Chen Yang each carried one of the crocodiles on their shoulders. Coupled with the difficulty of traversing the swamp, they had to rest every so often.

But it was worth it; the thought of bringing the crocodile back to the camp gave them the strength to continue.

“What do you think is behind the swamp? I hope it’s a vast grassland,” Li Su’er suddenly said.

"According to scientific theory, it's highly unlikely that there's grassland behind the swamp; it's probably more likely to be mountains or dense forest," Chen Yang said.

"According to scientific theory, the micro-world does not exist yet."

Chen Yang was speechless.

"There's land ahead."

Jiang Yining interrupted the two of them, pointing ahead and saying.

Before their eyes, the vast expanse of muddy swamp was gone, replaced by relatively dry land, suggesting that they were nearing the end of the swamp.

"The answer will be revealed soon. If it's the Great Grassland, you have to grant me one request."

“When did I make such an agreement with you? I refuse.”

"Refusal is invalid, it's settled then. Come on, let's go."

"What if it's not a grassland?"

"If not, I will repay you with my body."

"Then you made a profit?"

"Yes, I earned it all."

Li Su'er chuckled and made a face at Chen Yang.

Jiang Yining also gave Chen Yang an ambiguous look, making Chen Yang very embarrassed, and he could only choose to ignore her.

Ye Wu whispered to Chen Yang, "Little Yang, I think these two girls are pretty good. Li Su'er clearly likes you a lot, why don't you consider them?"

"You're still single yourself, why are you meddling in other people's business?"

"That's different. I've been through a lot with girls, unlike you, who's stuck with just one person. Seriously, haven't you considered finding someone?"

"I don't have that idea for now."

"Mo Xi is coming in a few days. You're not thinking of rekindling your old flame, are you?"

What do you think?

"Probably not, you've all burned to ashes, you can't reignite."

"That settles it."

Ye Wu shook his head dejectedly, glanced at the two women walking ahead, and looked hesitant.

"Ye Wu, are you hiding something from me?"

Chen Yang noticed that Ye Wu was acting strangely. Ye Wu's emotions were all written on his face, making him easy to read.

Yes, but I won't tell you.

Ye Wu knew he couldn't hide his thoughts from Chen Yang, so he simply resorted to shamelessness.

Chen Yang stared intently at Ye Wu, who glanced guiltily in the direction of the two women, then pretended to whistle nonchalantly.

Chen Yang instantly understood that these three people were definitely hiding something from him, and it was definitely about him.

Considering that Mo Xi was about to visit the Microworld Inn, Chen Yang guessed most of it.

"Look, that must be the exit."

Li Su'er shouted and then ran out first.

Chen Yang and the others quickly followed, passing through the swamp forest. Suddenly, a bright light appeared before their eyes, causing them to close their eyes involuntarily.

When they opened their eyes again, they were stunned. They rubbed their eyes to make sure they weren't seeing things.

"Alien Yang, it seems I'm destined to repay him with my body," Li Su'er murmured.

Chen Yang was so overjoyed that he had no time to pay attention to Li Su'er.

Before them lay a shimmering lake, and in the middle of it, an island.
