"Wang Shu, come quick, give me a hand."
At the entrance of the dormitory building, Lin Wangshu saw Shen Jiaojiao with a flushed face, carrying two bulging packages in her hands.
"What are you carrying? It's so heavy." Lin Wangshu stepped forward and took it, immediately feeling its weight.
Shen Jiaojiao was panting heavily. "My cousin gave it to me. He said it was shampoo for me to use when washing my hair. Who knew there was so much?"
Lin Wangshu struggled to carry the shampoo upstairs, saying, "Shampoo? So much! Your cousin is quite generous."
"What? He's not that kind." Shen Jiaojiao snorted. "These were produced in Wang Tao's own factory. They couldn't be sold, so they're piled up like mountains. Every household has a huge amount of them."
"Made by yourself?" Lin Wangshu asked curiously, glancing down at the name on the shampoo packaging in the bag, "Hair Like Clouds".
"Yes, isn't the name nice? My cousin and Wang Tao spent a long time looking through poems to come up with it."
Lin Wangshu smiled and nodded, "It sounds nice, but..." She didn't finish her sentence, only frowning and shaking her head.
In those days, people generally used soap to wash their hair; shampoo was not yet widespread, and people didn't know what it was.
Wang Tao and his team came up with such a poetic name, but ordinary people can't understand it. No wonder they can't sell their products.
"What's wrong? Do you think this name is bad?" Shen Jiaojiao asked curiously when she saw her frowning.
Lin Wangshu pushed open the dormitory door, put down the heavy shampoo in her hand, and told Shen Jiaojiao about her thoughts.
Shen Jiaojiao thought about it and realized it was true. She laughed and said, "Letting those two pigs stick green onions in their noses to pretend to be elephants, they've made a mess of things now, haven't they?"
But after all, he was her own cousin. Zheng Jianhua had invested a lot of money in the factory. Although Shen Jiaojiao was usually annoyed by him, she didn't want to see him looking so worried. "When I get home, I'll tell them to change this cheesy name as soon as possible."
"I think that if your cousins want to sell their shampoo, simply changing the name won't be enough," Lin Wangshu said. She felt that the first thing they needed to do was to let the public know about the shampoo.
"Huh? No way, I've used it at home, and it's much better than soap," Shen Jiaojiao said, half-believing.
Just as Lin Wangshu was about to explain, Du Juan and Yang Yiyi returned.
"What are these? Why are there so many?" Du Juan asked, looking at the small boxes.
"Shampoo, for washing your hair, would you like to try it?" Shen Jiaojiao picked up two boxes and handed them to them, enthusiastically recommending it.
Yang Yiyi hesitated before taking it. "Shampoo? What is this? Will it even work for washing my hair?"
Du Juan has always washed her hair with soap since she was a child. She was afraid that this would damage her hair, so she was unwilling to try it easily. She waved her hand and refused, saying, "No need, no need, soap is fine for me."
Yang Yiyi was never one to have her own opinions, and when she saw that Dujuan didn't want it, she put her things down as well, saying, "Then... I don't want it either."
"I told you, just changing the name isn't enough. You need to let everyone know about it first." Lin Wangshu smiled as she took the shampoo from Shen Jiaojiao, who was frowning.
She waved the small box in her hand at Du Juan and Yang Yiyi and said, "I'll wash it first, and you'll see how good it is once you see the results."
"Wang Shu, don't! Your hair is so beautiful, you'll ruin it if you wash it again." Yang Yiyi looked at her jet-black, shiny hair and quickly stopped her.
"What do you mean? How could it be ruined? Would I harm you?" Shen Jiaojiao was unhappy to hear her say that.
When Yang Yiyi realized that she had blurted out her true feelings in her anxiety, she quickly covered her mouth and shook her head, "That's not what I meant."
"It's okay, my hair isn't that fragile." Lin Wangshu got right to it, filled a basin with hot water, and prepared to wash it for them.
While she was washing, Yang Yiyi and Du Juan watched from the side, occasionally letting out a gasp of surprise.
"Oh, look at the foam! It's all white and there's so much more foam than soap."
"It smells so good! It smells better than soap!"
The two of them went from being skeptical at first to eventually becoming eager to try it out.
Shen Jiaojiao witnessed their transformation firsthand, so after Lin Wangshu finished washing, she couldn't wait to ask, "Wangshu, do you have any way to get everyone to accept it? We can't just wash our clothes one by one to show them, can we?"
Lin Wangshu dried her wet hair and slowly uttered three words, "Advertise!"
After listening, Shen Jiaojiao seemed to understand something, and then asked, "Is it an advertisement in the newspaper?"
“No.” Lin Wangshu shook her index finger. “It’s a TV commercial.”
"Television commercials?" Du Juan and Yang Yiyi had never heard of television commercials before, and asked in unison.
Shen Jiaojiao suddenly realized that she had seen people selling alcohol on TV before, so they could also sell their shampoo on TV.
"Yes, times are progressing, and so are the ways of advertising. We can introduce products on television, which has a stronger visual impact and makes it easier for viewers to understand."
Lin Wangshu got more and more excited as he spoke, “We can find a beautiful model with shiny black hair, have her hold up this ‘Cloud-like Hair’ shampoo, and say a catchy advertising slogan, then everyone will remember this brand, right?”
"If we have enough funding, we can also do product placement in TV dramas, that is, let the main characters use our shampoo. The more viewers see it, the more they will think of our brand when they wash their hair in the future."
"Then, will your cousin and his friends still have to worry about not having customers for their shampoo?"
