Chapter 129 The Good Moon

After Jiang Weidong left, Lin Wangshu had nothing to do. Although she hadn't slept all night and her eyes were sore, as soon as she lay down on the bed and touched the cold pillow next to her, she felt empty inside and couldn't fall asleep.

Stepping out of the bedroom, Lin Wangshu found the room equally silent. She felt the house was eerily quiet, so she quickly turned on the television to bring some sound into the room.

She took off her shoes and curled up on the sofa to watch TV, but although the TV program was very lively, Lin Wangshu's mind was not on it. She just sat there blankly with her eyes vacant.

She sat there for the entire morning, and Lin Wangshu hadn't eaten a single grain of rice since then. Her stomach was completely empty, but she was oblivious to it.

A knock sounded at the door, bringing Lin Wangshu back to her senses.

Her face immediately lit up, and she quickly put on her slippers, rushed to the door, opened it, and exclaimed with delight, "Weidong? You..."

Ya Ning, standing outside the door, scratched her head. "Big sister, it's me. Didn't my second brother leave?"

Lin Wangshu's eyes dimmed slightly, but she quickly perked up and stepped aside to let her in. "Ya Ning? What brings you here? Don't you have classes today?"

Ya Ning came in carrying her luggage, looked Lin Wangshu up and down, and was shocked. Her older sister had always loved beauty since she was a child, when had she ever looked so haggard?

"Big sister, are you alright?" Ya Ning put down her luggage and looked at Lin Wangshu with concern.

Lin Wangshu touched her face and forced a pale smile. "I'm fine, I'm perfectly fine."

“What’s so good about you?” Ya Ning pulled her to the bathroom mirror. “Look at your hair, it’s a complete mess, it’s like a bird’s nest.”

"And your face, you haven't even washed up this morning, have you? I can see the boogers in your eyes."

"Look at your clothes again. Why are you still wearing your pajamas?"

Ya Ning was incredulous. "Big sister, no wonder my second brother was worried about you and called me here. He just left, how did you become like this? Are you still the carefree and beautiful big sister I know?"

Lin Wangshu's eyes welled up with tears as she listened, and she felt tears welling up in her eyes. She quickly turned on the water, bent down, and vigorously washed her face.

Lin Wangshu picked up a towel and wiped her face, then gave a wry smile. "I never thought I'd be so pathetic. Maybe I just need some time to process this."

Ya Ning sighed, picked up a toothbrush, squeezed toothpaste onto her toothbrush, and said, "It's okay. I'll stay with you until my second brother comes back."

When Lin Wangshu finished getting ready and came to the living room, she found that Ya Ning had heated up the leftover food from the refrigerator and put it on the table for her.

Seeing Lin Wangshu come out, Ya Ning felt a little embarrassed. "The cafeteria was out of food, and I don't know how to cook myself. I saw some leftovers in the fridge, so I heated them up for you."

Lin Wangshu sat down, eating the hot meal, and looked at Ya Ning with emotion, saying, "Thank you, Ya Ning, because of you, I feel much better now."

“We’re sisters, why are you being so polite with your own sister?” Ya Ning said, resting her chin on her hand and smiling at her.

"Besides, Yafei taught me all of this. We both agreed that she would stay home to comfort Mom, and I would stay here to take care of you."

Upon hearing this, Lin Wangshu couldn't help but smile. "I knew it. Those words just now didn't sound like something our little angel Ya Ning would say. It turns out that little chili pepper Ya Fei taught you that."

"Hehe." Ya Ning smiled, blushing. "I really mustered up all my courage to speak just now."

When evening came, since Ya Ning was going to stay here for a long time, Lin Wangshu first laid out a new quilt for her.

But when she was looking for new towels, toothbrushes and other toiletries, Lin Wangshu had quite a bit of trouble before she finally found them and handed them to Ya Ning.

Ya Ning found it amusing. "Big sister, isn't this your home? Why do you look more like a guest than I am?"

Lin Wangshu awkwardly touched her hair and gave an embarrassed smile, "Your second brother usually takes care of these things, so I don't know where he puts them."

Upon hearing this, Ya Ning smiled knowingly, then recalled the words Jiang Weidong had told her when he called her before leaving.

One can't help but sigh, no wonder Lin Wangshu was so sad. Who would have thought that Jiang Weidong treated his wife like a daughter, not wanting to trouble her with such a small thing.

When it comes to doting on his wife, Ya Ning feels that even her father can't compare to her second brother, since An Jie has never been a pampered wife.

So Ya Ning stayed with Lin Wangshu, and with someone to talk to, Lin Wangshu no longer felt lonely.

During this period, Jiang Weimin also came a few times. He said that Jiang Weidong asked him to come and show his face often because he was afraid that if Ya Ning and Lin Wangshu were at home, someone would take the opportunity to bully them.

After hearing this, Ya Ning kept praising her second brother for being so thoughtful, saying that she should look for a partner like him in the future.

Jiang Weidong would write to me every week. Since his mission was confidential and he couldn't write about it, he would write about the climate and food here, which were completely different from those in the north, and about the interesting things he encountered here.

The mosquitoes in the south are rampant, and they are large and poisonous, some even as long as a human finger. Soldiers have to wrap themselves up tightly when on guard duty.

In his letter, Jiang Weidong joked that if Jiang Defu had encountered such a mosquito when he was messing with him that day, he probably would have turned into a dried-up Jiang Weidong.

He also said that the fruit here was especially delicious, big and sweet. When he ate it, he thought of Lin Wangshu and made up his mind that when things were peaceful, he would definitely take her to try it.

At the end of the letter, Jiang Weidong seemed to still remember the angry words Lin Wangshu had said that day, telling her to eat and sleep on time and to take good care of herself.

Jiang Weidong didn't want the round moon he was taking such good care of to become as thin as a crescent moon when he came back.

When Lin Wangshu finished reading, she was so angry that she kept pointing at the letter and muttering angrily, "You're the crescent moon, your whole family are little crescent moons."

The next day, Lin Wangshu went to the photo studio as soon as she got off work and instructed the photographer to take pictures of her in a way that made her look fat.

After the photos were taken, Lin Wangshu put them in an envelope and sent them to Jiang Weidong. In the letter, she wrote smugly, "Don't worry, I'm taking good care of your wife. She definitely won't get as thin as a crescent moon."

So, she told Jiang Weidong not to worry and to focus on fighting; she would wait patiently for his return.

After receiving the letter, Jiang Weidong looked at the smiling girl in the photo and realized that, just as she had said, she was taking good care of herself.

Touching Lin Wangshu's rosy face in the photo, Jiang Weidong couldn't help but smile and whisper, "Good Moon."
