Chapter 162 Wei Lai

(This chapter serves as a transition for the female lead's career; the pacing is a bit fast and it's somewhat mindless, so please reserve your brains before reading.)

Shen Jiaojiao was puzzled. "What do you mean? Why are you suddenly asking me this?"

Lin Wangshu was very excited because she finally realized her advantage: she saw the future!

So she continued, "What I mean is, if we made a movie that showed people life after the millennium, would you want to watch it?"

Shen Jiaojiao blinked and pondered, "Compared to now, there must be changes, and they must be earth-shattering changes that I can't even imagine."

Lin Wangshu nodded vigorously, "It will definitely be earth-shattering, definitely unexpected."

Now that was real, Shen Jiaojiao was genuinely curious. She smiled and said, "You're so sure, could you possibly see the future? Tell me about it."

Lin Wangshu thought for a moment, then carefully recounted a glimpse of her future life.

Shen Jiaojiao listened with longing and looked at Lin Wangshu with admiration, "Your imagination is too rich. If we could really become like that, who would want to go abroad?"

Because of the reform and opening up, people saw the prosperity and advancement of foreign countries and rushed to go abroad by all means.

The country has also sent many students abroad to study, but it is clear that after experiencing the wonders of the world, only a few are willing to return.

"Do you think it's feasible to make a movie like this?" Lin Wangshu asked expectantly.

Shen Jiaojiao nodded hesitantly, "I think it's quite interesting, but I don't know if the audience will be willing to watch it. Why don't you have someone write down your ideas, and we can find a professional to take a look?"

"Okay, let's give it a try." Lin Wangshu clapped her hands and said decisively.

So the two split up. Shen Jiaojiao stayed behind to take care of the company, while Lin Wangshu returned to Qingdao and asked Ya Ning to help her write a script.

Upon hearing Lin Wangshu's idea, Ya Ning was amazed and excited that she was asked to write the script.

I made up my mind to write it to the best of my ability, not to disappoint my older sister, and certainly not to hold her back.

She was a bookworm to begin with, and now she's working tirelessly to write this script, even consulting her former university professors about things she didn't like.

After pouring her heart and soul into it for half a year, Ya Ning handed the completed script to Lin Wangshu.

Lin Wangshu glanced through it; the plot was roughly about a girl named Wei Lai from forty years in the future who got lost while visiting a former Japanese battlefield.

When they saw people again, they found a man and three women dressed in old-fashioned military uniforms. Both sides were surprised when they met, and the other side even raised their guns as a warning.

Wei Lai didn't understand the situation and thought they were filming a movie. He went up to greet them with a smile and even curiously tried to touch the gun barrel that was pointed at her.

Fortunately, the four people opposite her could hear her speaking Chinese and were unwilling to harm her.

Only that young soldier, seeing her approach step by step, had no choice but to pull the trigger towards the sky as a warning.

Wei Lai was startled and squatted down to explain his background in detail.

The four men naturally didn't believe her, thinking she was mentally unstable. Although they didn't know how she got there, they still softened and decided to send her back to the country.

As they spent time together, Wei Lai learned that it was during the Sino-Vietnamese War, and the young soldier was escorting three female members of a cultural troupe back to the rear.

After learning about her, Wei Lai became much more respectful, even though the young soldier still suspected she was a spy and was very wary of her.

The three girls were much more curious and friendly towards her. When she told them that she was from the future, they jokingly asked her what the future would be like.

Wei Lai, in high spirits, described in detail his daily life, including his clothes, food, housing, and transportation. He also lamented that his phone was out of battery, otherwise he could have let them see it for themselves.

The three girls listened in stunned silence, completely mesmerized. They felt it was both magical and unreal, but secretly hoped that what she said was true.

Wei Lai spoke eloquently, so much so that even the stern-faced young soldier perked up his ears, and a hint of longing appeared in his eyes.

The group got along very well, and the young soldier looked at Wei Lai and made up his mind that he must send her back to China safely.

Although he was young, he knew how much of a contribution Wei would make to the country if what she said was true.

Therefore, when they encountered the enemy, the young soldier originally wanted to use himself as bait to lure them away, but Wei Lai stopped him, saying, "I have seen the future, and you should see it too."

The final scene shows Wei Lai living in a room with a completely different style from his current one.

Electric curtains, voice-controlled speakers, self-cleaning robots, and small black devices that can have face-to-face conversations...

All of this proves that Wei Lai was not lying. These are the kinds of experiences that the people watching on screen will be able to personally witness in the future.

Liu Jiang spent a long time flipping through the thin script before looking up at Shen Jiaojiao and Lin Wangshu.

He stated bluntly, "The script is rudimentary, the characters are flat, the dialogue is bland, and frankly, this script is terrible."

As always, he was sharp-tongued, leaving the two of them blushing, yet unable to refute him.

Shen Jiaojiao's eyes welled up with tears as she recalled Liu Jiang's words from last time: "It's so grating and hard to listen to."

But this time, she sniffed and forced the tears back.

Lin Wangshu thought there was no hope and sighed softly, "We've wasted your time, let's go now."

As she was speaking, she tried to take the script from his hand, but felt a resistance and couldn't take it back immediately.

She looked up at Liu Jiang in surprise, "What's wrong with you...?"
