Chapter 171 Rebuking the Ding Brothers

Hearing his questioning tone, Old Ding immediately flew into a rage, "How the hell do you talk to me like that? What does it have to do with whether your mother was your first wife or not?"

After being yelled at by Old Ding, Da Yang's voice softened a bit, but he was still somewhat unconvinced, "Then after a hundred years, shouldn't my mother be with you? Why..."

Before he could finish speaking, Lao Ding sensed his unspoken meaning: he felt Dehua was superfluous.

Old Ding was furious and disappointed that his son would be so ungrateful. "Your Aunt Dehua has been married to me for so many years and has treated you better than her own son."

"Whose son or daughter wasn't left to her to take care of? Now that you don't need her anymore, you want to discard her like a used tool, right?"

"Can you really bear to leave her all alone after she passes away? How could I have given birth to such an ungrateful bunch!"

"Dad, we're not..." Da Yang tried to explain in a panic, but Lao Ding refused to listen and slammed the phone down.

Old Ding sat on the sofa, remaining silent for a long time. He couldn't bear to tell Dehua about it.

But he was also really worried that those two brats would cause some trouble that would hurt Dehua's feelings after he passed away.

At that point, he'll be stuck underground, staring at the wall in frustration.

After much thought, Lao Ding thought of Yafei and Lin Wangshu. Although he was unwilling to admit it, Jiang Defu was indeed better at raising children than he was.

Old Ding could only rest assured if he entrusted his funeral arrangements to them.

Listening to Old Ding calmly recount his final arrangements, Yafei felt both angry and heartbroken. "They haven't come to see you even once in so long, and they only called about this kind of thing. Didn't your aunt treat them well?!"

As she grew older, Yafei matured a lot and her temper wasn't as fiery as it used to be, but at this moment she really wanted to beat the two of them up.

Seeing Lao Ding's increasingly gloomy face, Lin Wangshu felt bad, but in order to comfort him, she still put on a relaxed smile.

"Uncle, leave this matter to us. Don't worry about it. Practice your calligraphy and sword every day. If you're in a good mood, you might even outlive them."

Old Ding was amused by her, "Then I'll become an immortal old monster!"

Once outside, Lin Wangshu's smile faded. The dispute over the burial plot had erupted while Old Ding was still alive, which was much better than having Dehua, with her hair all white and trembling, return to her parents' home to complain.

He and Yafei called Dayang and Eryang respectively, and arranged a time and place to talk.

Hearing the coldness in their voices, the two knew what was going on and nervously agreed.

When they pushed open the door to the restaurant's private room, they saw Lin Wangshu and Yafei sitting in the middle, with Jiang Weidong and Zheng Jianhua sitting on either side of them like bodyguards.

Jiang Weidong, having held a high position for many years, exudes an aura that silences even strangers. In this moment, his anger is surging, and his gaze toward the two is as cold and sharp as a knife.

The sight of Da Yang and Er Yang sent chills down their spines. They avoided his gaze, swallowed hard, and sat down stiffly.

As soon as she sat down, Yafei's long-suppressed anger burst forth. Pointing at them, she cursed, "You two unfilial wretches, are you only happy when you've angered your father to death?"

"The elderly are getting older, and you don't come to visit even once every few months. I'll assume you're busy with work and won't complain."

"But your father is still alive, and you're already making arrangements to buy a burial plot. Instead of calling to inquire about his health or ask if he's sick, you're here to interrogate him!"

“What has my aunt done to you? Is she a bad stepmother? She raised all your children, and you’re all still so attached to her at your age. Has she ever complained?”

"For so many years, she has taken care of my uncle without complaint every day, doing laundry, cooking, and cleaning, day after day, for decades!"

"It's because of her that you've been able to ignore your father so carefree for so many years, and live such a carefree life! She's saved you so much trouble!"

"But how come such a good person doesn't receive any of your kindness? How come he's become a superfluous person!"

As Yafei spoke, she grew angrier and more heartbroken. She slammed her hand on the table, making the cups and spoons rattle, and tears streamed down her face.

Zheng Jianhua, standing to the side, looked distressed, poured her a glass of water, and silently held her hand.

Jiang Weidong's eyes reddened as he listened, and he turned his head slightly away. His aunt was the most selfless person he had ever met, and she treated him like her own son. Yet, such a good person had to be bullied by someone.

The two people opposite blushed with embarrassment. Da Yang stammered, "Why are you saying such awful things? Auntie treats us the best."

"But my mother carried me for ten months and gave birth to me. I have to think about her, right? I have to make sure she's comfortable down there, right?"

Before Yafei could speak, Lin Wangshu sneered, "You filial son, do you think your mother would be grateful to you down there? If I were your mother, I'd want to slap you across the face!"

"You..." Hearing her sarcastic words, Er Yang slammed her hand on the table in anger, her voice rising. But seeing Jiang Weidong sit up straight and his face suddenly darken, she lowered her voice weakly, "How dare you speak like that?!"

"Am I wrong?" Lin Wangshu looked them up and down, as if she could see right through them, and said with disdain, "Are you really that filial? I think it's more of an act."

"You've been indifferent to your living father for so many years, living a carefree life, haven't you?"
