When school ended in the afternoon, the blackboard bulletin board at the back of the classroom was still not finished, so Lin Wangshu decided to finish it herself.
Because of what happened last time, Jiang Weidong was worried about her going home alone, so he said goodbye to his friends and stayed to keep her company.
He didn't sit properly at all. Lin Wangshu was writing characters stroke by stroke, while Jiang Weidong sat on the table behind her, swinging his legs back and forth, tilting his head, humming a song and staring at her.
Lin Wangshu glanced back at the chalk box on the table, feeling uneasy from his presence, and said helplessly, "If you're going to wait for me, just sit still. You'll probably knock the chalk box over in a bit."
Jiang Weidong obediently said "Oh," and braced himself with both hands, ready to jump down gracefully. Unexpectedly, the table tilted, and the whole box of chalk crashed to the ground.
Hearing the commotion, Lin Wangshu looked over and immediately flew into a rage, hands on her hips, and snapped, "Jiang Junqing, are you here to cause me trouble?!"
Jiang Weidong quickly squatted down to pick it up, and said with a guilty smile, "I didn't notice, I'll pick it up for you now."
Looking at the colorful chalk stubs on the ground, Lin Wangshu sighed and squatted down.
Just as the two had finished picking up the items, Teacher Ge's voice suddenly rang out in the empty classroom, "How did you find your way here? What if Teacher An sees you?"
Upon hearing this, Lin Wangshu and Jiang Weidong exchanged a glance, both seeing curiosity in each other's eyes.
So they neither stood up nor made a sound, but carefully moved their bodies further inside to avoid being discovered.
Just as they strained to listen, trying to find out who the other person was, Old Ding's voice rang out, "No, I saw her go home before I came."
Then, he asked awkwardly in a stiff voice, "What have you thought about our relationship?"
"Uncle Ding!" Jiang Weidong said silently to Lin Wangshu, his eyes filled with surprise and anger.
Knowing that Dehua liked Lao Ding and would send him things and do chores at his house all the time, he had long regarded Lao Ding as his uncle.
But now Lao Ding is involved with Teacher Ge, which makes Jiang Weidong very angry. He feels that Lao Ding is letting his aunt down.
Lin Wangshu also frowned, sighing in her heart that Aunt Dehua's love life was really bumpy. Old Ding wanted to find a cultured person like An Jie, but after wasting several years, he resigned himself to choosing Dehua.
According to this calculation, Lao Ding will have to go through another dentist before Dehua and he can finally get married.
The classroom was quiet for a while, and the two of them didn't speak again. Lin Wangshu's legs were numb and sore from squatting, and she rubbed her ankles with a frown.
Jiang Weidong frowned when he saw this, and pulled her to stand up. He wondered when these two would finish and what was the point of them squatting here the whole time.
Lin Wangshu was so frightened that she shook her head repeatedly, pulling his hand down with panic in her eyes.
She wasn't thick-skinned enough to stand up without batting an eye while they were talking about love, and then walk out as if no one else was there.
Just imagining that scene made Lin Wangshu want to scream in embarrassment.
Just as they were struggling, Old Ding suddenly sighed heavily, stood up, and took a few steps inside.
Lin Wangshu immediately opened her eyes wide and subconsciously dodged forward, but her feet were already numb and she couldn't feel them.
This caused her to fall headfirst onto Jiang Weidong!
Jiang Weidong quickly caught her, but he was squatting and his footing was unstable, so he could only sit down on the ground with her in his arms.
Fortunately, Old Ding spoke up at that moment, and the noise they were making was then drowned out.
"Don't worry about what other people think, just tell me your thoughts." Old Ding's voice was a little impatient.
"I..." Even without looking, one could tell that Teacher Ge must be blushing deeply.
But Lin Wangshu was really not in the mood for gossip right now; her current posture was truly... indescribable.
Lin Wangshu blushed and tried to push Jiang Weidong away and stand up from him.
It is said that men and women should not touch each other, but they are all grown up now and can no longer be as carefree as they were when they were young.
But as soon as she moved, Jiang Weidong pressed her back down with his hand on her back.
Jiang Weidong turned his head slightly and whispered in her ear, "Don't move!"
As he spoke, he pointed to a stack of tilted books that were pressing on Lin Wangshu's legs. If she moved, all the books would fall down, and then they would definitely be discovered.
Lin Wangshu bit her lip lightly, her ears burning from his breath, making her feel very uncomfortable, but she could only stay still.
Their current posture is too easy to be misunderstood. If Old Ding sees it, she can file a complaint with Jiang Defu. She herself will be fine, but Jiang Weidong will probably be beaten to death.
This was the first time they had been so close since they grew up, so close that Jiang Weidong felt he could even hear Xiaoyue's breathing.
Seeing her eyes slightly lowered, her cheeks flushed, and her teeth nervously biting her lower lip, Jiang Weidong felt his breath skip a beat.
His fingertips, resting on his lap, trembled slightly as an urge surged within him to free her lips, which had been bitten red.
Jiang Weidong was startled by his own thoughts and quickly closed his eyes, not daring to look anymore.
He remembered that in the comic book version of Journey to the West he had read, Tang Sanzang, when he met the Queen of the Women's Kingdom, would close his eyes and chant sutras with a calm mind.
If it weren't for the fact that he had never been a monk and didn't know how to recite the scriptures, Jiang Weidong would have loved to learn from Tang Sanzang and chant Buddhist scriptures to stop his random thoughts.
As the two gradually synchronized their rapid heartbeats, the voices of the other two people in the classroom finally faded away, presumably having finished their conversation.
Lin Wangshu breathed a sigh of relief, no longer caring about her image, and quickly got off Jiang Weidong using both hands and feet.
Jiang Weidong didn't dare to look at her. His ears turned red as he straightened his clothes and stammered, "I, we, let's go home."
Lin Wangshu glanced out the window; it was already getting dark. She mumbled a reply, "Okay, okay."
Then they locked the classroom door and jogged home. Dinner was already served at home, consisting of freshly steamed buns by Dehua.
"Where's Aunt?" Jiang Weimin asked curiously, not noticing his parents' worried expressions.
Yafei knew the answer and replied enthusiastically, "She went to Uncle Ding's house to deliver steamed buns to Uncle Ding and Siyang."
Upon hearing this, Jiang Weidong angrily took a bite of his steamed bun. "Why did Auntie go again? I might as well have kept those buns for myself."
Anjie found it amusing, "You stingy little thing, do you think our family is lacking a bite to eat?"
"I'm not being stingy, I just don't want to give any to Uncle Ding," Jiang Weidong said with a resentful expression.
Jiang Defu became curious and lightly patted his head, "What did your Uncle Ding do to offend you? You can't even eat a steamed bun?"
Jiang Weidong snorted, "He's already dating Teacher Ge, why is he still eating his aunt's steamed buns!"
"What did you say?!" An Jie looked incredulous.
