Chapter 86 The Uncomfortable White Plum

Bai Hongmei also heard the cold snort, and her heart skipped a beat. She turned around stiffly and saw Lin Wangshu. She bit her lip timidly, looking very panicked.

Under Jiang Weiguo's slightly pleading gaze, Lin Wangshu walked up to them with her luggage. "Jiang Weiguo, are you just going to let your girlfriend talk about our mother like this?"

Lin Wangshu's tone was very unpleasant, and her face was icy cold, a stark contrast to her friendly demeanor just moments before. Bai Hongmei knew she had made a mistake with her words and fearfully hid behind Jiang Weiguo.

Jiang Weiguo still remembered the lecture Lin Wangshu gave him when Jiang Changyi came last time. Knowing that she couldn't stand anyone saying anything bad about An Jie, he immediately pulled out Bai Hongmei.

"Apologize now! I don't want you to be so disrespectful to my mother. Don't let this happen again!"

Jiang Weiguo looked directly into Bai Hongmei's eyes, his attitude serious and earnest. This made Bai Hongmei feel that if there was a next time, they might be completely finished.

So, even though she was still feeling wronged, Bai Hongmei nodded without hesitation, "I'm sorry, Weiguo, I didn't mean to disrespect Auntie, I just spoke too quickly."

Knowing that this was not the time to throw a tantrum, Bai Hongmei was well aware that Jiang Weiguo might try to appease her if she acted up normally, but now she had clearly crossed his line.

Bai Hongmei didn't want to break up with Jiang Weiguo, after all, he was the best prospect she could find.

After hearing her apology, Jiang Weiguo glanced nervously at Lin Wangshu. He was afraid of this younger sister. If he hadn't spoken up to reprimand Xiaobai first, Lin Wangshu probably would have made him cry with just one word.

Lin Wangshu remained silent. When the boat was almost at the shore, she leaned down and whispered in Bai Hongmei's ear, "I heard you're an opera singer. Opera singers are all quite good at smiling, aren't they?"

"I've only just started university, and I'm not very skilled. I can't make a living by smiling like you. Why don't you teach me later? How about I smile nicer at my mom, hmm?"

Lin Wangshu's voice was very soft, and Jiang Weiguo didn't hear what she said clearly. But seeing the smile on her face, he thought they were whispering among the girls, so he didn't care and continued to wave excitedly to the shore.

Bai Hongmei was both ashamed and angry. Lin Wangshu's words made her feel extremely humiliated. She wanted to pack her bags and go back immediately, but she also knew clearly that she was in the wrong and that Jiang Weiguo would definitely not chase after her.

Bai Hongmei's hands tightened around the railing, her eyes red-rimmed, but she forced a smile. Lin Wangshu nodded in satisfaction upon seeing this.

Anjie on the shore was actually forcing a smile the whole time. She was unwilling, but she didn't want to be impolite, so she could only force such an awkward smile.

But when Lin Wangshu appeared, An Jie perked up immediately, her face lit up, and she smiled brightly, "Wangshu, Mom is here!"

When the boat docked, Lin Wangshu was the first to disembark. An Jie quickly walked a few steps and hugged her tightly. "Oh my, you've lost so much weight! Did you not eat properly at school?"

Anjie noticed that she had lost weight and immediately touched her from head to toe with heartache.

"Hey, what are you two doing? Are you deliberately showing off your mother-daughter bond in front of us?"

As Yafei watched Anjie's concerned expression, she made sarcastic remarks with a sour tone.

"Grandma, I'm getting jealous!" Yafei leaned against Anjie, swaying her body and acting coquettishly.

Anjie seemed quite pleased, but feigned disgust, shoving her shoulder as if to shake her off. "Who told you to irritate me all the time? You deserve it!"

Lin Wangshu laughed as she watched Yafei act silly, "You're with Mom and Dad every day, can't you even let me have Mom today?"

As she spoke, Lin Wangshu took An Jie's hand again, "Mom, I'm not thinner, I'm stronger. I exercise every day, so I look better on camera."

"That's good." Anjie patted her hand with relief.

While the mother and daughter were being affectionate and dutiful, Bai Hongmei came down early but was neglected and could only stand there awkwardly.

But she dared not complain, after all, the one who stole her thunder was Lin Wangshu. After being mocked by her with a smile, Bai Hongmei was completely afraid of her and now trembled at the sight of her smile.

Dehua, however, was observant and noticed Bai Hongmei's discomfort. He tugged at Anjie's sleeve and whispered a reminder, "Weiguo's girlfriend."

Anjie then remembered her important business for the day. Thinking about how she had neglected him for so long, she couldn't help but feel a little embarrassed, and her smile became much more genuine.

Seeing that everyone had finally noticed him, Jiang Weiguo quickly introduced Bai Hongmei to everyone.

Perhaps because of shyness, Bai Hongmei could only smile at everyone, but couldn't utter a single word.

Anjie was not satisfied with what she saw, feeling that the girl was not generous and her attitude was not very enthusiastic.

Fortunately, Dehua didn't care about that. She thought the girl was quite pretty and was Weiguo's girlfriend. So, out of love for her, she affectionately took Bai Hongmei's arm and walked ahead.

Lin Wangshu, Yafei, and Ya Ning accompanied An Jie walking behind.

"Mom, how was it? Did that girl have a nice smile? I specifically told her to tell her that."

Lin Wangshu, arm in arm with An Jie, walked slowly, watching Bai Hongmei's back, and asked with a smile.

"So you taught her that? No wonder she was just laughing and didn't even call out to anyone."

Yafei suddenly clapped her hands, pointed at Lin Wangshu, and exclaimed in realization.

Lin Wangshu quickly waved her hand, "Don't wrong me, I just told her to smile nicely, I didn't teach her to be rude!"

"But her smile doesn't look good either," Ya Ning muttered from the side.

Anjie no longer hid from her daughters, as if she had found allies, and spoke to them privately, "It seems that none of you like her very much?"
