Jiang Weidong had been thinking about Lin Wangshu, and upon hearing this, he hurriedly asked, "Then, sir, how is my wife?"
The nurse was taken aback. It was rare for the man to ask about the adults before the child, so she looked at him with newfound respect and smiled even more kindly. "Your wife is fine. You'll see her soon."
"Two children are good too, a boy and a girl, twins! Congratulations, you are blessed."
Upon hearing that Lin Wangshu was safe, Jiang Weidong immediately breathed a sigh of relief, a joyful smile spreading across his face. He didn't even hear the rest of his sentence, and kept thanking the nurse, saying, "Thank you, thank you, it's good that my wife is alright."
As he spoke, his eyes kept glancing towards the door, hoping to see Lin Wangshu as soon as possible.
Seeing this, the nurse shook her head and chuckled, then turned and went into the delivery room, preparing to push the mother and baby out. She didn't see the family members already eagerly waiting; couldn't they wait any longer?
Meanwhile, Dehua called back. Seeing Jiang Weidong smiling, she was overjoyed and excitedly asked, "Has the baby been born yet?"
Seeing Jiang Weidong nod, Dehua exclaimed "God!" overjoyed, and then asked, "What about the child? Is it a boy or a girl? When will we be able to see him?"
"The person will be brought out soon, as for the child..." Jiang Weidong felt a little guilty. He had only been focused on Lin Wangshu and hadn't really paid attention to the child's gender.
So he vaguely told Dehua, "You'll find out soon enough whether it's a man or a woman."
Dehua, however, thought he was being mysterious and glared at him angrily, "Are you trying to drive me crazy? Is it a flower stick or a double stick? Just tell me clearly!"
Jiang Weidong was stumped by the question. Fortunately, at that moment, a commotion broke out, the delivery room door was opened again, and Lin Wangshu, lying on the hospital bed, was wheeled out.
Seeing this, the two rushed forward. Jiang Weidong looked at Lin Wangshu, whose eyes were closed and face was pale, and couldn't help but call her softly with concern, "Wangshu, Wangshu..."
Seeing that she didn't move, Jiang Weidong panicked and looked up to ask, "Comrade, isn't my wife alright? Why can't I wake her up?"
The nurse patiently explained, "She's just tired and is asleep now."
Jiang Weidong was relieved. He brushed the stray hairs that were stuck to her face and sighed softly, "Little Moon, you've worked hard."
Seeing that the two adults were gathered around the mother's bedside while the two children were neglected, the nurse felt a warmth in her heart, thinking that this family really knew how to care for others.
Then, pointing at the child, he laughed and said, "We're about to take him into the ward. Family members, please carry the child and follow."
Dehua was used to holding babies, so she took the baby with practiced ease. Looking at the infant who was opening his mouth and making noises, she said with a kind smile, "This child is so handsome, just as fair-skinned as his mother."
Jiang Weidong, however, was different. He held the child as if he were carrying a dish, his body stiff and he dared not move.
He felt that the child sucking his fingers with his eyes closed was like a puddle of water, which could easily slip through his fingers.
He was so nervous that he dared not tense up or relax, and soon his back was soaked with sweat. He had never been this nervous even when he was flying a plane for the first time.
The doctors and nurses couldn't help but laugh when they saw this. In the end, an older nurse took pity on him and took the child from his arms.
Jiang Weidong wiped the cold sweat from his forehead, glanced at the child's face, then, supporting himself on the hospital bed, stared at Lin Wangshu's face as he carefully made his way back to the ward.
On the way, Dehua was overjoyed, glancing at this one and that one, wishing he could hold them both in his arms.
When they arrived at the ward, the doctors and nurses had all left. Jiang Weidong took a cotton swab, moistened it with water, and gently moistened Lin Wangshu's chapped lips.
Just as things were peaceful and quiet, Dehua exclaimed in surprise, "Mom, it's flower sticks again!"
Upon hearing this, Jiang Weidong looked over and saw that the child's bag was open, and Dehua was pointing at his son, Little Chili, with an excited expression.
"Auntie, what are you doing!" Jiang Weidong felt that the scene was too fierce, so he quickly covered the child with the blanket and wrapped him up tightly.
Dehua pursed his lips. "What's the big deal? He's still a baby in diapers. When you were little, I changed your diapers every day. Didn't I see you a lot?"
Jiang Weidong blushed and quickly changed the subject, "Um, Auntie, when are my parents coming?"
"Your dad answered the phone right away. He was so anxious when he found out that he immediately packed his bags and came over."
Indeed, after hanging up the phone, Jiang Defu excitedly shouted to An Jie in the kitchen, "Teacher An, hurry up and pack your things, your grandchildren are coming!"
Anjie was cutting noodles when she heard this and came out with a cleaver. "Really? Wangshu is going into labor!"
"That's right, Dehua just called, he's at the hospital right now!" Jiang Defu said, then rushed back to his bedroom to pack his things.
Anjie no longer cared about her noodles. She put down the knife, took off her apron, and went to change her clothes.
In the bedroom, Jiang Defu packed his things while muttering, "Jiang Ronglong, Jiang Rongfeng, Grandpa has finally been waiting for you to come!"
Anjie was stunned as she listened to him muttering. She quickly stopped him and asked, "What? What did you say? This is the name you gave the child?"
Jiang Defu hadn't realized he'd let something slip. His eyes darted around, and he said matter-of-factly, "Yes, so what? If they're twins, that's their name!"
Anjie was both angry and amused. "You're still thinking about your dragon and phoenix? You can't even bring misfortune to your own son and daughter, and now you want to bring misfortune to your own grandson and granddaughter."
"I'm telling you, it's impossible. As long as I'm alive, the child will never be named that!"
Seeing her resistance, Jiang Defu felt annoyed. He should have kept his mouth shut tighter. Now that An Jie knew, the matter of the name was probably going to fall through again.
