After saying that, he didn't look at Lin Wangshu again, lifted his foot, brushed past her shoulder, and walked out of the house.
Hearing his cold words, Lin Wangshu was stunned, feeling a void in her heart, as if something important had left her.
"Hey, Second Brother, what's the rush?" Yafei was startled by Jiang Weidong's sudden push of the door and almost tripped, so she couldn't help but ask.
It was clear that Jiang Weidong was ignoring him, and then followed Ya Ning into the house while muttering to himself.
Seeing Lin Wangshu standing there blankly, she curiously went over to take a look, but was startled and exclaimed, "Big sister, why are you crying?"
Lin Wangshu was startled back to her senses by her voice, and then felt a coolness on her face. She unconsciously raised her hand to touch it, and when she looked down, her fingertips were indeed wet.
Seeing Yafei's worried eyes, Lin Wangshu smiled and said, "I didn't cry. I just washed my hair, so it's just some water droplets."
After saying that, he walked into the house in a daze.
Yafei watched her retreating figure, feeling uneasy, and wanted to chase after her. Lin Wangshu's reason was too flimsy; she needed to find out the truth.
But Ya Ning stopped her, saying, "Don't go. If your older sister doesn't want to talk about it, then let's not ask."
"That won't do!" Yafei frowned disapprovingly. "Big sister is crying; she must have been bullied. How can I not find out the truth?"
Ya Ning sighed and explained, "They must have had another fight with Second Brother. They should make up in a few days. There's no point in us interfering."
After hearing this, Yafei's anxious expression lessened slightly, but she was still a little puzzled. Their quarrel this time was too intense; her second brother was actually willing to make her eldest sister cry.
Jiang Weidong and Lin Wangshu had a fight, which was a rare occurrence in the Jiang family. Everyone was wondering when the two would make up.
Jiang Weimin felt that within three days, his second brother would have to back down and try to please his eldest sister.
Unexpectedly, things didn't go as planned. Half a month had passed, and the two of them were still lukewarm when they met. They didn't argue, but they didn't exchange harsh words. They spoke to each other politely, and their cold and distant manner made people feel awkward.
In fact, Lin Wangshu had also been having a hard time during this period. She pretended to be calm and collected on the surface, but at night, she secretly cried countless times.
They had been childhood sweethearts, and Jiang Weidong had always treated her so well; she had long since only had eyes for him.
Although she and Jiang Weidong were not related by blood, they called each other brother and sister, and were no different from real siblings.
When the older brother held his younger sister's hand and said they wanted to be together, An Jie and Jiang Defu must have felt like they'd been struck by lightning and couldn't accept it at all.
With such a wonderful home and such wonderful family members, Lin Wangshu was unwilling to repay kindness with enmity, only caring about her own pleasure without considering her parents' feelings.
Therefore, no matter how sad she felt, Lin Wangshu gritted her teeth and endured it, telling herself that it would get better with time.
One day, Zhao Jianguo rushed to the Jiang family home in a panic, shouting, "Something terrible has happened! Weidong has been hit on the head and is unconscious!"
"What?" Lin Wangshu's face turned pale instantly, and the cup in her hand shattered. "Where is he? How is he now?"
"We've taken him to the hospital. I'm here to deliver the news!" Zhao Jianguo said, panting heavily.
Upon hearing this, Lin Wangshu was stunned and ran to the hospital, tears streaming down her face uncontrollably.
Jiang Weidong, brother, please don't let anything happen to you!
When Lin Wangshu arrived at the hospital, Jiang Weidong was lying in bed with a thick white cloth wrapped around his head, his lips pale, and his eyes closed.
Lin Wangshu thought something had happened to him, her legs went weak, and she almost fell to the ground.
"Hey, Wangshu, your second brother is alright, he's just asleep!" The doctor who rushed over from behind quickly supported her. "You child, you didn't even let us finish speaking before you rushed over."
Upon hearing this, Lin Wangshu immediately grabbed her sleeve tightly, "Really?"
Seeing the tears in her eyes, clearly frightened, the doctor softened his voice, "Really, we've applied some medicine for him. As long as he avoids strenuous exercise and rests for a few days, he'll be fine."
Lin Wangshu finally felt relieved, sat down next to Jiang Weidong, held his hand, and looked at his unusually weak face, tears streaming down her face with heartache.
After a while, Jiang Defu, An Jie, and Ya Fei also arrived.
Seeing that Jiang Weidong was alright, everyone breathed a sigh of relief. Jiang Defu, seeing his son beaten like this, went to find Zhao Jianguo with a gloomy face to ask who the culprit was.
Dehua wiped away her tears and busied herself preparing a delicious meal for Jiang Weidong when she got home, intending to give him a good boost.
Because the doctor advised them to rest, An Jie sent Ya Fei, Ya Ning, and Jiang Weimin home.
She originally wanted Lin Wangshu to go home as well, but Lin Wangshu shook her head and refused, not saying a word, only holding Jiang Weidong's hand, stubbornly waiting for him to wake up.
An Jie sighed upon seeing this, picked up the kettle, and prepared to fetch some hot water to moisten Jiang Weidong's lips.
As soon as she stepped out, Lin Wangshu felt Jiang Weidong's hand move. She leaned forward in surprise and whispered, "Brother, are you awake?"
Jiang Weidong slowly opened his eyes and saw Lin Wangshu's tear-reddened face. He couldn't help but ask, "Little Moon?"
Hearing him call her that, Lin Wangshu's tears flowed again, and she nodded choked with sobs, "Yes, it's me, you scared me to death, brother."
Jiang Weidong was actually fine, just feeling a little dizzy. Seeing her crying so pitifully, he quickly sat up and comforted her, "I'm really okay, Little Moon, don't worry!"
Seeing his anxious and helpless attempt to comfort her, Lin Wangshu could no longer suppress her grievances and worries. She rushed over and hugged him tightly, crying even louder.
