Chapter 59 Suspicion

Chapter 59 Suspicion

In a daze, a low whispered conversation came.

"Why is Senior Brother with him?"

"That's right, it's really puzzling."

"Brother, don't you know who this person is..."

"Alright, be quiet. It's Junior Brother Wenren's freedom to be friends with whomever he chooses."

After listening for a while, he lost all strength and fell into a coma again. When he woke up, he didn't know where he was. His eyes were covered with a layer of soaked gauze, and the strong smell of herbs was emanating.

Ling Zheng wanted to rub his eyes without thinking, but was caught by a hand, "Don't touch it yet." Her voice was cold and melodious, like the sound of a ringing pendant, but very unfamiliar, obviously not someone he knew well.

"Who are you?"

"I am Wen Rensu's senior sister, Qi Yinhua."

She first explained the situation: "You've been in a coma for two days. How are you feeling now? I've treated you with acupuncture and moxibustion. Your internal energy should be flowing smoothly."

As he spoke, he pulled Ling Zheng's wrist to feel his pulse. "Now focus your internal energy on your eyes. How does it feel?"

Trying to search his memory, he conjured up the image of Qi Yinhua in his mind. After a brief consideration, Ling Zheng decided to follow her instructions. He finished and told her, "It's a little hot and a little itchy."

A hint of satisfaction flashed across Qi Yinhua's clear eyes. She tucked Ling Zheng's wrist back into the quilt and explained carefully:

"This is normal. The dressing contains Fire Spicy Herb. Actually, your condition isn't complicated. It just requires a few rare herbs, supplemented by internal energy to impact the meridians in your eyes that are clogged by toxins."

Ling Zheng was delighted when he heard this. Being unable to see has always been a very troublesome thing. Suddenly receiving the good news, the heavy stone in his heart was finally lifted.

Years of experience had made him expressionless, so being in an unfamiliar environment, he acted cautiously. "Thank you. Excuse me, where is this?"

A clear girl's voice answered from the side: "This is Baicao Valley of Wanjun Sect." After that, she respectfully handed Qi Yinhua a tube of lit moxa sticks.

Qi Yinhua held the moxa stick and moved it left and right in front of Ling Zheng's eyes. "Concentrate your internal energy on the Qingming acupoint, Zanzhu acupoint, Taiyang acupoint, and Fengchi acupoint in turn. After 49 cycles, open your eyes."

The moxa sticks emit a faint fragrance, and the white smoke gathers into a line, floating slowly in the air, and a warm current envelopes the eyelids.

Ling Zheng circulated his internal energy step by step. The more times he circulated, the more the blood stasis was cleared, and a hazy light and shadow gradually appeared in front of his eyes.

Finally, after enough times, Ling Zheng felt an unknown fear in his heart. It was not that he did not yearn for light, but he had become accustomed to the nothingness before him.

Qi Yinhua understood the psychological barriers faced by people with long-term illnesses, and implicitly encouraged him, "Just open your eyes slowly. If you still feel uncomfortable, I can help you adjust."

After making sufficient mental preparation, Ling Zheng slowly raised his eyelids, and his dark pupils became focused.

Blinking, the blurry scene before his eyes became clearer. The woman sitting on the edge of the couch was dressed in white, whiter than snow. She wore the standard uniform for women of the Wanjun faction, and she looked dignified and elegant.

Qi Yinhua nodded slightly, as a gesture of goodwill. She placed the moxa stick in the medicine box and asked, "Is your vision clear? Are there any flares or double vision?"

Ling Zheng shook his head and observed his surroundings calmly. There was a man and a woman standing behind Qi Yinhua, about sixteen or seventeen years old, with deliberately cold expressions.

The house was neat and simple. The only long table was filled with bottles and jars, and dried herbs were hung on the wall, creating a strange sweet and bitter aroma.

Qi Yinhua, who was copying the prescription, suddenly raised her eyes and said seriously, "Since you are my junior brother's good friend, you can also call me Senior Sister Qi."

In just a few short seconds, Ling Zheng acquired a lot of information. He supported himself and sat up, bowing to them: "Thank you, Senior Sister Qi, and thank you, my two...junior brothers and sisters." He had a smile on his face, as if he didn't notice the two people's dissatisfaction.

As the saying goes, don't hit a smiling person. Qiu Li smiled lightly and bowed in return. Yan Sui was perfunctory and just made a fist gesture with his hands before putting them down.

Qi Yinhua lowered her head, a few strands of silky black hair draped over her face as she copied from a medical book. After she finished, she tore it off and handed it to Ling Zheng: "Your eyes may feel sore when you first recover. You can apply hot compresses according to this prescription, twice a day."

He took a quick look at the herbs in his hand and saw that they were common herbs that were not difficult to obtain. Ling Zheng breathed a sigh of relief and said gratefully:

"I've heard that Senior Sister Qi's medical skills are quite remarkable. Now I've experienced it myself. In my opinion, not only are her medical skills superb, but she also has a kind heart. I admire her."

"It's just an empty reputation." Qi Yinhua didn't show much emotion towards Ling Zheng's compliment. He said meticulously, "Luckily, I found relevant information in the sect. Otherwise, it would take me a lot of effort to research this kind of poison from the Western Regions."

As he spoke, he briefly showed the medical book in his hand. The pages were not thick, and four big words were written on the indigo hardcover - "Strange Poisons in the Western Regions".

Ling Zheng was smiling at first, but when he saw the information on the spine, his expression changed subtly. He pointed at the calligraphy and asked casually, "Why is it written 'Wen Ren Su' here?"

Qi Yinhua turned over and took a look, her eyes widening slightly, obviously realizing the situation. She seemed to be aloof, but in fact she had a keen mind. After a brief thought, she understood Ling Zheng's thoughts and explained in a gentle voice:

"Don't get me wrong. Junior Brother Wenren loves to travel the world. He always collects rare books and classics from all over the place and contributes them to the sect's library to broaden the knowledge of his fellow junior brothers and sisters."

His eyes flickered for a moment, and Ling Zheng responded nonchalantly, "How could that be? I can't even begin to express my gratitude to him. So, where are the others?"

When Ling Zheng woke up, he didn't see Wen Rensu. He suddenly felt worried. Could something have happened to him?

Yan Sui quickly replied, "Senior Brother Wenren has been summoned by the Sect Leader." His tone was tinged with hidden resentment. Qiu Li tugged at his sleeve, and he shook his head slightly.

Ling Zheng raised an eyebrow, picking up on the underlying meaning, a hint of mockery playing across his face. He wasn't sure if the target of his ridicule was them or himself. Good and evil were incompatible, and the clash of positions and identities between him and Wen Rensu was unavoidable.

Qi Yinhua sighed softly as he packed up his medicine box. "Rest well first. Junior Brother Wenren will come to see you when he comes back."

As soon as the words fell, mention of Cao Cao, and Cao Cao appeared. Wen Rensu peeked out of the window, lifted up the food box and shook it gently, meeting Ling Zheng's gaze. He was startled at first, then his eyes curved into crescents, their light flashing and sparkling.

Perhaps it was because it had been too long since he had seen Wen Rensu's appearance in person. His joyful eyes were too warm, burning Ling Zheng so much that he wanted to avoid them but also wanted to meet them. His heart was beating like a drum, full of excitement and hidden uneasiness, and he unconsciously clenched a corner of the quilt.

Wen Rensu quickly stepped through the door, nodded and greeted the fellow disciples present, and then came to Ling Zheng and said with concern: "Your eyes are better."

The person in front of him had skin so white that it was almost transparent, and her eyebrows and eyes were as beautiful as a demon. A blood-red teardrop mole under the right corner of her eye added a bit of liveliness. Her eyes finally regained their spirit and looked even more dazzling.

Ling Zheng pretended to be aloof and said "hmm". He paused for a moment without waiting for an answer. Finally, he couldn't suppress his desire to show concern and looked up at Wen Rensu. "When did you wake up? Are you okay?"

"I'm three hours ahead of you and have already recovered." Wen Rensu sat down in front of Ling Zheng's couch, his usual cold eyes softened. "Well... all thanks to you."

Qiu Li and Yan Sui, who were standing aside, looked at each other, as if they had received some extraordinary signal, and hurriedly looked at Qi Yinhua for an answer.

Qi Yinhua ignored the calls of his fellow apprentices, his eyes wandering between the two of them, a faint smile on his face: "I won't interfere with your conversation, it's time for us to go to lunch."

After saying that, she signaled with her eyes to the two dull-witted people to walk out of the guest house first. Qiu Li and Yan Sui seemed to have just woken up from a dream. They looked back as they walked, showing expressions of doubt about life, and followed Qi Yinhua away happily.

The room became quiet, but it felt more comfortable. After all, they had lived together for more than ten days or half a month.

Wen Rensu stood up and opened the window, letting in a bit more light. A breeze blew past, dispelling the accumulated bitter and sweet smells, and now he could smell the familiar floral scent carried by the wind.

The bright sunlight shining in made Ling Zheng's eyes a little uncomfortable. He squinted and looked out the window. Several lush osmanthus trees grew outside. In just a moment, a few scattered golden petals fell on the window frame.

Wen Rensu was in a hurry. He put the medicine jars on the long table on the ground to make some space, moved the long table to a place closer to the bed, opened the food box, and arranged the dishes.

"Does everyone in your sect like osmanthus trees very much?" Ling Zheng chatted while helping Wen Rensu.

Hearing this, Wen Rensu's hands kept moving, his brows relaxed, with a look of attachment to his relatives: "Maybe, my master's wife likes it."

It is rumored that the master's wife that Wen Rensu was talking about was the wife of the leader of the Wanjun Sect. She passed away due to illness more than ten years ago. The leader was also a sentimental man and never remarried.

"Feel sorry."

"It's okay, it's all over."

Wen Rensu considerately changed the subject, "You haven't eaten for two days, you must be hungry." He handed Ling Zheng a bowl and chopsticks. There was so much rice in it that it formed a semicircle covering the bowl. Each grain was plump, making people's mouths water.

There were several farm dishes on the long table, including stir-fried pork with bamboo shoots, braised carp, boiled shrimps, and a pot of carrot and pork ribs soup.

The food was steaming hot, obviously freshly cooked, colorful, and filled with an enticing aroma that completely washed away the herbal smell in my nostrils.

No matter how cold-blooded a person is, he cannot resist the power of delicious food. Ling Zheng is no exception. The beautiful scenery before him easily aroused his appetite. Only then did he realize how hungry he was and he wanted to eat all the delicacies on the table immediately.

He picked up a few chopsticks of food and shoveled them into his mouth, satisfying his appetite for the time being. Then he remembered that there was another person here. He chewed the food with his mouth full, like a little squirrel eating. After swallowing hard, he raised his head slowly and asked, "Have you eaten yet?"

"You still remember to care about me? I am really grateful." Wen Rensu also made a gesture to clasp his fists.

Since when, Ling Zheng got used to Wen Rensu's gradually revealed nature of joking and making jokes.

Hearing the other party's sarcastic remarks again, Ling Zheng glanced at Wen Rensu and said unhappily, "I was wrong, okay?"

Immediately, her eyes rolled around, and she came up with an idea. A naive smile appeared on her face, and she picked up a piece of meat: "How about, Brother Wenren, let me feed you?"
