Chapter 12

Chapter 12

Crushing the prayer beads is merely a smokescreen.

Even so, the little fox still felt a pang of fear.

The Azure Lotus God was stunned for a moment.

The snow fell even harder, like drifting pearls and plum blossoms, landing on him, only to be instantly melted into crimson by his blood.

He suddenly flashed away and chased after the powder.

The colorful snowflakes also transformed into countless lotus petals, but unlike the usual light pink and fragrant petals, the bright red ones seemed to be stained with the blood of the heart.

The jade fragments were hard to find; half of them were held up by his transformed lotus petal primordial spirit, while the rest were immersed in the snow and mud.

He landed on the ground, knelt on one knee, and instead of using magic, began to search for the fine dust in the snow with his hands.

Hands covered in mud, fingertips red from the cold.

However, the dust scattered everywhere, and even with the boundless power of the Azure Lotus God, he could only recover half of the jade dust in the end.

The lotus petals fell one by one onto the snow, like the sky weeping, a poignant and scarlet sight.

He used magic to restore the lotus pearl to its original form, but the jade was broken and could not be restored. Even though the emerald pearls were formed, each one was damaged.

The Azure Lotus God slowly closed his eyes, then suddenly shook his head and chuckled: "His next life is uncertain, this life is over, the karmic bond is hard to continue, and the mortal bond is severed."

His lips were extremely bright, quite different from his usual frosty and elegant appearance; he looked like a lotus in the fire, blooming and then fading.

The little fox dared not look any longer—it was too dazzling, as if even a single glance would draw its heart in.

Seemingly in a state of mental turmoil, the ice peaks sealing the Fox King and his soldiers shattered one by one.

With each shattering of ice crystals, the Azure Lotus God's face paled even more.

Once everyone was free, they all attacked the Azure Lotus God.

The man stood still and closed his eyes.

The little fox's heart pounded. He suddenly cast a spell, moving faster than the others, and landed in front of the Azure Lotus God.

The prince only had time to call out Su Yao's name once, but when he tried to grab him, he couldn't even get a grip on his sleeve.

The two were too close together, and an attack would inevitably result in friendly fire, so they stopped a short distance away and simply watched.

He pretended to cast a spell and said in a low voice, "Go quickly, I will explain to the Fox King that the other party will not make things difficult for you because of the power of the Heavenly Court."

"As long as you don't come again, we'll pretend today never happened."

The little fox's magic was just a feint, but the Azure Lotus God Lord didn't even try to block it, letting the attacks hit him before spitting out a mouthful of blood.

"Are you crazy?"

The little fox felt a metallic taste rise in its throat.

He didn't hate Qinglian Divine Lord, and he didn't even regret meeting him.

But life is long, and besides love, there are so many beautiful landscapes and pleasant things waiting for him to do.

But as long as he was with the Azure Lotus God, he could never find peace.

Those scars and pains will remind me again and again the moment I see the other person.

He was so desperate that he wanted to destroy himself, but that person never came.

Even the deepest love can hurt.

So they decided to cut ties and part ways amicably.

Even though reason tells me a thousand times, when I see the other person injured, my heart feels like it's being tightly squeezed, and I can't help but feel an unbearable pain.

The little fox felt a metallic taste in his mouth, his knuckles cracking as he clenched his fists, and finally cast a few healing spells.

He was like a fishing light on a dark sea, illuminating a corner of the night in the eyes of the Azure Lotus God.

The other person grabbed his wrist and said in a soft voice, "You let me go, and then what?"

The little fox pursed its lips and remained silent.

The Azure Lotus God smiled, his eyes like burnt-out stars.

Scorched and withered.

"Then you will marry Du Hengzhi."

The man's voice was very calm, like the sea before a hurricane.

"Live a carefree life, and even give birth to countless beautiful little foxes."

He gripped the little fox's arm so tightly it hurt, then gave a bitter laugh: "Unless I die, how can you expect me to just watch all this happen?"

"No."

The Azure Lotus God chuckled softly again, his voice and expression quite different from before.

The little fox couldn't find the right words to describe it.

He said, "Perhaps it would be better if I were dead. If I were a ghost, who could stop me?"

The little fox's heart was pounding.

The Azure Lotus God's left eye was extremely red, like a pool of blood soaking the cold moon, utterly bewitching.

He was momentarily stunned, then pulled into the other person's arms and a kiss was placed between his eyebrows.

The little fox realized that its magic power had been sealed by the opponent, as its meridians were blocked by a bone-chilling cold!

"you!"

The little fox was furious and was about to run away when it was captured.

"You are a deity, your primordial spirit is indestructible, your immortal body is indestructible, so how can you talk about being dead or alive!"

The prince had been hesitant to make any rash moves, but seeing that the little fox was truly trapped, he finally grew anxious and ordered the fox soldiers to attack one by one.

As soon as he landed, he used the Flame Chasing Technique to head towards the Azure Lotus Divine Lord, but suddenly a strange change occurred.

The little fox was stunned for a moment, then was carried away by the Azure Lotus God.

Suddenly, pebbles flew everywhere, and dark vines suddenly sprouted from the cracks in the ground.

It seemed as if a giant squid lived underground, with soft tentacles covering the broken ground, dripping viscous black liquid from their ends.

It is demonic breath.

The demonic aura grew increasingly intense.

The little fox's chest heaved as it grabbed the front of the Azure Lotus God's robe and said, "Go and ask the Heavenly Emperor for help to save our Qingqiu."

He bent his knees, about to kneel: "Azure Lotus God, I beg you."

The Azure Lotus God lowered his long eyelashes and helped the little fox up.

He said, "Demonic energy is proliferating everywhere, and the Heavenly Emperor is overwhelmed."

The Azure Lotus God did not elaborate on his words.

But the little fox felt a chill in its heart. According to Qinglian, the Heavenly Realm was probably also corrupted.

Humanity still needs the heavens to save it; Qingqiu can only pray for its own good fortune.

He can live without a lover, he can live without spiritual cultivation, but he cannot live without his hometown.

This is the land that gave him birth and nurtured him.

He enjoys studying feng shui because, no matter how lonely he is, heaven and earth remain his constant companions.

The wind is like the earth breathing, and the sound of the water is like its laughter.

If all of this disappears, what will become of the countless fox clans?

"Then what should we do?"

The little fox was panicked; he clutched tightly at the robes of the Azure Lotus God.

"My Lord, you must have a way."

The Azure Lotus God sighed and led him away from several places of dark energy.

“I have my own natal secret realm,” he said softly, “which can hold over a thousand people.”

But how is that enough?

The little fox closed its eyes briefly, feeling its fingertips trembling.

He no longer concealed it: "My marriage to the Crown Prince was merely to obtain the ancestral magic weapon."

After he finished speaking, the pale face of the Azure Lotus God-King finally regained some color.

He hugged the little fox tightly, his shoulders trembling slightly.

"Unless you can save Qingqiu, I will have to marry him."

The little fox blinked. The person in front of it had a slender neck and white hair, yet was extremely tall.

It's enough to completely envelop yourself in your arms, like holding a rag doll.

It is despicable to exploit people's feelings.

But it was too late. The Azure Lotus Divine Lord possessed boundless magical power; even though he was severely injured, he could single-handedly stop an army of thousands.

I'm afraid even the Heavenly Emperor and he are evenly matched.

"If I agree to save Qingqiu, what will you say?"

With his long eyelashes drooping, the Azure Lotus God soared into the air with the little fox, surrounded by clouds and mist that flowed like rivers.

It seems that with a gentle touch, the invisible ripples could wash away the dust of the past.

"I," the little fox pursed her lips, and finally spoke, "I am willing to marry you."

"You're not lying to me?"

The Azure Lotus God reached out and cupped his face in his hands.

The little fox hesitated for a moment, then nodded.

__

The wedding came to an abrupt end. The crown prince, holding the little fox's shoulder, kept asking questions.

What's wrong with me?

His pupils were bloodshot, like a ring without its jewels, the center so dark it had lost its luster.

"Yaoyao, give me a chance, let me—"

Whether you are well or not is none of my business.

The little fox removed his hand.

"Du Hengzhi, I never loved you."

"And you only love me when I'm in all my glory," the little fox shook its head, "but you can't accept me when I'm covered in dust."

He took out a bag and handed it to the other person: "These are all the Moonlight Flowing Pendants you have given me over the past hundred years. I am very grateful to you, but I cannot accept them."

The prince stared at him blankly. The little fox sighed, put the bag on the ground, and walked back.

"Su Yao."

The little fox heard the other person's voice, which was hoarse and deep, and suddenly stopped in its tracks.

"If... if I hadn't tolerated others mocking and looking down on you, would things be different now?"

The little fox chuckled softly and turned around: "But life has no 'what ifs'."

Later, I heard that the Crown Prince had locked himself in his room for a long time, smashed countless things, and became so thin that his clothes were loose.

When people saw him later, they could no longer see his dejected appearance.

But the little fox was not paying attention at the time; he had promised the Azure Lotus God to marry him.

The condition is that the demonic energy has been processed.

"Yao Yao".

The Azure Lotus God stood beneath the flowering tree, and the flowing light resembled silver fish swimming past his snow-white sleeves.

Fallen petals drift and scatter, piling up like snowflakes.

"I will only ask you one question: do you truly wish to marry me?"

The little fox didn't answer the question; he simply raised his eyes and said softly, "I've only ever loved one person."

The Azure Lotus God slightly curved his lips, his gaze seemingly filled with both sorrow and relief.

He gently embraced the little fox and kissed its forehead. "I will grant your wish, restore peace to Qingqiu, and give you your freedom."

The little fox wanted to ask, "And what about you?" but ultimately held back.

For a long time afterward, the little fox remembered that afternoon.

Lotus petals mingled with the light snow, while behind the Azure Lotus God, the twilight was ablaze, with the sky ablaze with rosy light.

He gently hugged himself.

But the man's eyes were like flickering fireflies, easily extinguished.

--

The Azure Lotus God was not lying; he did indeed do it later.

He transformed his primordial spirit into countless blue lotuses, which bloomed in Qingqiu, their roots binding and purifying all the demonic vines.

But when all the demonic energy dissipated, the giant lotus flower that bloomed beneath the Cold Moon Peak of Qingqiu gradually began to wither.

No matter how much spiritual dew the little fox used to water it or how much magic it employed to heal it, the lotus flower withered irreversibly.

As a whole lotus petal fell, the little fox felt as if his heart had been slashed open by an invisible sword.

He ran to find the Fox King, but he accidentally fell several times on the way, leaving his knees and palms covered in bruises.

"Su Yao." The Fox King frowned upon seeing him. "Why do you look so pale?"

A palace maid brought a handkerchief and handed it to the little fox.

Only then did he realize that he had actually cried.

"Why?" the little fox sobbed. "Isn't he a god? Why did his original form wither?"

"Silly child, even gods have the limits of their power."

The Fox King patted his head.

"The Azure Lotus Divine Lord possesses the purest primordial spirit in the world; so-called purification is merely the mutual elimination of purity and impurity."

"He is fighting silently, but the best outcome is that the demonic energy will dissipate into this world along with him."

The little fox took a few steps back and its back slammed against the wall, which was icy cold.

He finally understood what Qinglian's sorrowful yet relieved look meant at the end.

He was saying goodbye to him.

The world is constantly changing with the seasons.

Green peaks turn into waves, and the blue sea becomes dust; who will stop and wait for whom?

He was so certain, so convinced.

But unexpectedly, there was someone in this world who was willing to give everything just to make his remaining life full of splendor.

But what's the use?

His god is gone.
