Chapter 4
Almost the instant Yan Ke saw Sheng Baiyan, his expression changed.
His face was pale, his eyelashes trembled, and his hand holding the wine glass tightened suddenly.
"Ah! Sheng Baiyan!"
An Omega suddenly remembered,
"Aren't you the one who tore up Yan Ke's love letter in front of him, you cold-blooded man, ugh—"
Another Beta covered the Omega's lips and desperately tried to wink at him, "He just likes to joke, Mr. Sheng, don't mind him, don't mind him."
Sheng Baiyan chuckled and pulled out a chair to sit down.
“It’s not a joke.” Sheng Baiyan’s gaze swept over Yan Ke. “There was indeed someone who, using Su Jin’s name, said he would help me deliver a gift, so I went to see him.”
He adjusted his glasses, his smile gentle. "Who knew I'd receive a love letter? I hate being lied to more than anything, so naturally I tore it up."
All eyes turned to Yan Ke, who was almost unable to sit still, his eyes glistening with tears. He drank several glasses of wine, his fingers trembling as he unlocked his phone and made a call.
“My husband, Qi Hui, wants me to go home right away.” Yan Ke’s face was pale, but she forced a bright smile. “He’s so clingy to me; he won’t let me go out for even half a day.”
"Qihui Pharmaceuticals?"
Sheng Baiyan raised an eyebrow slightly. "Then Mr. Yan should keep an eye on his wife's habit of making inappropriate jokes."
"To send flowers, bags, and luxury cars to my employees, and say that I truly love them and that I have no feelings for my wife anymore and am going to divorce her for her—that would be laughable if word got out."
Yan Ke's face was extremely pale, and his eyes were bloodshot, like gouged-out holes.
He pursed his lips, said nothing more, and hurriedly left.
"Yan Ke is so shameless, he even wants to introduce you to someone, Su Jin. He's dragging others down with him when he goes to hell."
The lively Omega couldn't help but shake his head.
"Sigh, it seems that marrying into a wealthy family isn't all that easy."
Omega sighed and suddenly patted Su Jin on the shoulder.
"My lady, the former serves as a warning; you must never marry a rich man! The difference in social status will inevitably lead to a tragic life, umm..."
"Cough cough cough!" The Beta sitting next to the Omega quickly picked up a piece of meat and stuffed it into the Omega's mouth, "Even food can't shut you up!"
Sheng Baiyan didn't say anything, but gently and considerately served Su Jin some food.
“You used to love sweet and sour spare ribs.” He poured a bowl of water and lightly rinsed the ribs. “But you didn’t eat much today. This place’s version is too sweet; mine is better.”
The tone was too intimate and casual, and Su Jin immediately stiffened. The man's deep eyes seemed to become Medusa's eyes, making him dare not look at him anymore.
He didn't want his relationship with Sheng Baiyan to be known by his friends—the pain of dissecting his body made him realize that he and Sheng Baiyan would never be equal in their relationship, so what was the point of talking about the future?
While craving Sheng Baiyan's warmth, Su Jin suddenly realized something.
It's just for fun. Once he's had his fill, he'll probably leave before Sheng Baiyan.
So when the man poured him wine, served him food, and ladled soup, Su Jin didn't refuse to save face for him, but always pretended not to see it by chatting with the Alpha classmate next to him.
"Su Meiren, please let me go."
The Alpha named Wei Jun had a bitter expression on his face. He nudged Su Jin's arm with his cup.
"President Sheng's eyes were like knives, and my bones felt like they were being scraped by him."
Su Jin smiled and said in a low voice that only the other person could hear, "No, I don't mean much to him. It's just that the novelty hasn't worn off yet."
"Really?" Wei Jun hesitated, then touched his nose and whispered, "But I'm an Alpha too, and I don't think the way he looks at you is just playing around..."
It seems that there are so many dazzling, jewel-like dreams in this world, but which one is real?
"President Sheng is so good to Su Jin." Omega glared at Beta, who was engrossed in eating, "Sigh, I also want a considerate boyfriend."
“He’s not my boyfriend,” Su Jin suddenly said, forcing a smile. “He’s just a friend.”
The smile that had been on Sheng Baiyan's lips vanished abruptly, and his eyes darkened instantly.
The atmosphere at the table was awkward, and Su Jin said she needed to go to the restroom.
——
This hotel is luxuriously decorated, so there is a fragrance room for relaxation around the corner. In the ABO world, information crop disorder caused by mood is everywhere. Fragrances blended with information crop scents have a certain calming effect. Most entertainment venues offer them, and they are more popular than smoking rooms.
Instead of going to the restroom, Su Jin hid in the fragrance room.
He casually picked up a scented paper and placed it on the tip of his nose.
The moon outside the window resembled a lit silver pipe, its ash slowly drifting into the windowpane.
Unexpectedly, by sheer coincidence, the fragrance was actually absinthe.
He became increasingly confused and thought it best to leave directly. Just as he opened the door, he encountered the guards.
The other person had been pacing outside the door for an unknown amount of time; their face was flushed, and their tightly pursed lips revealed a hint of nervousness.
“Su Jin.” Wei Jun pondered for a moment before finally saying, “I know that many people have liked you since college, even someone like Sheng Baiyan.”
Su Jin instinctively interrupted him, "He doesn't like me, he's just playing around—"
“So,” Wei Jun said seriously, suddenly grasping Su Jin’s hand, “could you help me and President Sheng get a job referral? I’ve been unemployed for three months, and I don’t want to be a jobless drifter anymore; it’s just too painful…”
Su Jin: "......."
"I'll give it a try."
Su Jin smiled helplessly and pulled her hand out of his grasp, but unexpectedly, he hugged her tightly.
"You're sooooo good!!!" Wei Jun was incredibly excited. "Su Jin, I'm counting on you."
Just as the other person let go of him, the door creaked open.
Sheng Baiyan stood outside the door, looking at him indifferently.
The light, like tassels, draped over the man's shoulders, giving his face a cold, marble-like quality.
Wei Jun awkwardly called out "President Sheng" before disappearing.
The man stepped in and slammed the door shut, plunging the room into darkness.
He told me he wanted to... um—
Su Jin felt a little embarrassed and wanted to say something, but was suddenly kissed.
She tried to push him away, but her wrists were grabbed in one hand.
My waist was tightly bound, and then a feeling of weightlessness washed over me.
"Sheng Baiyan!"
The lack of oxygen made Su Jin dizzy. Before he could react, the man lifted him up with one hand and placed him on the windowsill of the room.
My back pressed against the cold glass, like brushing against the icy skin of a shark, the chill spreading down my spine.
The man gave him a deep look.
The moon, like a unicorn's horn, was set in his pupils, its bright light possessing a menacing gleam.
Before Su Jin could speak, she was kissed again.
Like a ripe peach with its juices sucked out, Su Jin felt her lips go numb.
It was a silent struggle of a trapped beast; Su Jin tried to escape, but every inch of her land was plundered.
Just as they were arguing, someone suddenly pushed the door open and came in.
Su Jin tensed up completely. Sheng Baiyan covered the two of them with the curtains, leaving only the faint scent of white plum blossoms in the air.
Is anyone there?
It's that Omega classmate.
“There shouldn’t be anyone,” Beta suddenly spoke up. “Su Jin and Sheng Baiyan aren’t a couple, right? Then my brother has a chance.”
"What do you mean your brother? I think you're the one who's still up to your old tricks."
"No, really no, too many people covet Consort Su, I wouldn't dare."
"Hmm."
Su Jin suddenly felt a pain in her lips, and when she looked up, she met Sheng Baiyan's eyes.
Kiss me.
Sheng Baiyan's gaze was deep, a hint of rust from the tip of a knife spreading in his pupils. He held the curtain with his right hand, his breath falling softly on Su Jin's ear, "Otherwise, I'll open the curtain."
Su Jin turned her head away, and Sheng Baiyan slightly tugged at the curtains, causing her heart to pound wildly.
He pursed his lips, and finally took the initiative to press his lips to the other person's, wrapping his arms around the other person's neck.
The twilight was like a black panther, and the silver moon was a fish held in its mouth.
They plundered the bones and marrow, stealing away all the soft, white flesh.
After an unknown amount of time, once the Omega and Beta had left after smelling the fragrance, Su Jin felt like a piece of butter, gradually melting due to the excessive heat.
“It’s not just a fling.” Sheng Baiyan looked at him, took his hand and pressed it against his heart. “Su Jin, don’t let us become regrets.”
Like an ice needle melting into her heart, Su Jin ultimately just turned her face away.
——
Since there was a time limit, Su Jin freely enjoyed the time she spent with Sheng Baiyan.
The other party sent someone to take care of Su Jin's younger sister, Su Yan, and the two temporarily put aside their work to go on a trip together.
Sheng Baiyan was probably really tired, Su Jin noticed that he was even more sleepy than before.
When the other person's back is tired, the latter will also massage their shoulders and back.
They looked like a real couple.
Fly to the hot springs deep in the snow-capped mountains, and embrace the dense forest where the mist is like the breath of fairies.
The man's gaze darkened as he gently stroked his neck. "I never noticed before, but now I just think you're like a fairy."
"The kind that feeds on human yang energy?"
Su Jin smiled, water droplets clinging to his eyelashes, scattering the sunlight into fragmented, colorful patterns.
He shifted his position, opened his lips like a kitten, and pecked the man's collarbone. "Then you'd better watch out."
Sheng Baiyan didn't say anything, but hugged him and kissed him deeply.
I also flew to the seaside to watch the sunrise on the golden sand.
That feeling was amazing.
The sun is a crimson heart carved out of the sky, gently lifted higher by the drifting clouds.
The splashing light, like fresh blood and gold, flowed into the sea, causing the once unmoved ocean to boil.
The world is like a booming symphony, where all joys and sorrows are but a few notes, instantly diluted.
The sea breeze brushed against my clothes, and the palm trees rustled.
Sheng Baiyan gently embraced Su Jin from behind.
"Will you marry me?"
His voice was very low, and suddenly several large characters, illuminated by refracted light, appeared on the beach.
"Let me spend my whole life repaying what I owe you."
"I personally programmed and customized this."
Sheng Baiyan turned Su Jin around, his earlobes unusually flushed.
"The latitude here is 52, 13, 14. Roses will decay, but light will last forever."
He wore the black diamond ring known as Black Olaf on Su Jin after she was injured, and said each word with great care, "Su Jin, I love you."
Several mirror-like photosensitive plates, based on the angle of sunlight refraction, reflect the sand into several large characters.
To be honest, it's just a technologically upgraded version of candle roses, so tacky it's laughable.
Su Jin laughed, her nose tingling with emotion.
He didn't say anything, but simply kissed her.
——
Even the most wonderful journeys have an end date. The day after Su Jin returned home, she went to see her younger sister.
Amidst her busy work, Su Yan stared intently at Su Jin, "Brother, you look very happy."
Su Jin was taken aback, but Su Yan shook her head again, "No, you're unhappy again."
"What are you saying?"
Su Jin sighed and patted the other person's head.
However, there was something that truly made Su Jin happy: Su Yan had found a matching bone marrow donor.
"The donor declined to be named."
The doctor was also very happy.
“They weren’t a 100% match to begin with, but the donor took some new drugs, which improved the match.”
“Those medications would cause him neuropathic pain, making him very uncomfortable and tired. I never expected that the other party would go to such lengths for the donation.”
Su Jin was also somewhat moved by what she heard.
His sister was his life, and if he could, he would do everything within his power for this kind person.
However, the other party was unwilling to reveal their identity, so he could only express his gratitude silently in his heart.
——
If Sheng Baiyan hadn't been away on a business trip, Su Jin might never have met his father.
Su Jin was stunned when she opened the villa door.
Standing outside was a middle-aged man named Sheng Heng, whose appearance bore a striking resemblance to Sheng Baiyan.
He asked Su Jin very politely if she could come in.
Su Jin readily agreed, but was somewhat nervous while making tea for the other party. When the porcelain touched the tea table, some water droplets actually splashed out.
He hurriedly went to wipe it, but the other person told him not to bother.
"Su Jin." The middle-aged man placed his cane on the table and smiled at Su Jin. "She has a younger sister, Su Yan, who is waiting for a bone marrow transplant."
Upon hearing this, Su Jin stopped what she was doing.
"Bai Yan is planning to cancel the marriage alliance with the Su family." He picked up the cup of tea, then put it down again. "If I'm not mistaken, it's because of you, isn't it?"
Su Jin suddenly looked up, but ultimately remained silent.
“Child, I am not a conservative person,” Sheng Heng said calmly. “But your mother, Song Cheng, was once a business spy. She once used a face just like yours to seduce my brother, but in the end, she absconded with the money.”
"It's a pity that he did so much for Su Chen, but in the end he didn't even get a proper title."
He looked coldly at Su Jin, "Bai Yan can like anyone, but not Song Cheng's child."
“You look exactly like your mother.”
Sheng Heng laughed, but his eyes were as cold as ice.
"Your personality is exactly like hers. You married in place of Su Yiran just for money, didn't you?"
It's already late autumn; there shouldn't be any more cicada chirping.
Su Jin heard cicadas chirping outside the window, their sounds like light and shadow shattering, a chaotic cacophony.
A chill crept up his spine like a spider, and he couldn't help but sit up straighter.
“I don’t think you should have said these things to me.” Su Jin ignored her trembling fingers and looked at Sheng Heng. “Sheng Baiyan is an adult. You should go and persuade him.”
Sheng Heng narrowed his eyes, like an aging lion baring its claws and slightly raising its chin.
“It’s exactly the same.” The other person’s tone was full of gloom. “Of course you can continue to pester Bai Yan, but don’t even think about getting your sister’s bone marrow.”
Su Jin stood up abruptly, his heart clenching as if gripped tightly. "What are you going to do to Su Yan?"
"It's not about what I do," Sheng Heng smiled, "but what you do."
"You know yourself that Sheng Baiyan won't like you forever; it's just a passing fancy. Are you going to ruin your own and your sister's future for this fleeting fancy?"
"If you and I put on a show to make Bai Yan give up on marrying Su Yiran, I'll arrange for Su Yan to have surgery abroad, give you ten million, arrange for you to study abroad, give you the best future, and ensure you and your child have no worries."
The bedroom door was suddenly slammed shut by the wind.
The window screen fluttered, and the flowing light was like pearls carved from the wounds of white oysters, impossible to catch no matter how hard you tried.
“You’re right.” Su Jin suddenly smiled. “Sheng Baiyan’s actions were just a passing fancy, while I’m ultimately here for the money.”
"I will do as you say, as long as you keep your promise."
—
Sheng Baiyan was in his vulnerable period those days, and he pretended to be on a business trip just to avoid hurting Su Jin.
But as he slammed his way into the metal room, leaving it dented everywhere, his secretary sent him a photo of Su Jin and an unfamiliar Alpha wearing a mask entering the hotel.
The taste of blood surged into my throat in an instant.
He roared at the butler to let him out, but his father sent over an Omega instead.
Su Yiran.
The other person was crying and huddled in a corner. That face, which was almost identical to Su Jin's, made Sheng Baiyan almost lose control.
He ripped off his glasses with his bare hands, crushing the glass between his fingers.
The information overload overwhelmed Sheng Baiyan, making him feel like a beast born in human skin. He was in so much pain that his bones creaked, and he refused to get any closer to Su Yiran.
"Get out!" Sheng Baiyan smashed all the cups and porcelain vases on the table, his eyes bloodshot. "Get out of here!"
"I didn't want to either!" Su Yiran sobbed. "I have a lover too! Don't come any closer!"
The instinctive claws nearly tore their hearts apart. Sheng Baiyan pursed his lips, finally picked up a shard of glass, and slashed his own body with it.
"Hmm...."
The pain finally made him control himself; blood gushed from the wound, staining his collar red.
"Are you... are you insane?!"
Su Yiran was shocked by him and stood frozen in the corner, speechless.
Ignoring the pain, Sheng Baiyan pushed open the second-floor window and jumped off.
When he fell to the ground, the sand and gravel cut his arms and legs, leaving him covered in blood and in a sorry state.
But Sheng Baiyan only wants to find his Omega.
As he drove, in excruciating pain, he finally arrived at the hotel. He hurriedly changed his clothes and wiped away the mess on his body, only to hear Su Jin's words outside the door.
“I have never loved Sheng Baiyan. I did all of this for you.”
Su Jin cried, seemingly throwing herself into someone's arms, "Take me away, I don't want to stay by Sheng Baiyan's side for even a second longer."
Even though it was the cable that was scratched, Sheng Baiyan felt as if his heart was being slowly tortured.
Blood and gore.
He suddenly pushed open the door and uttered the sentence he would regret most in his life.
"Su Jin, do you think I love you? It's just a fling, I'm already tired of you."
What was Su Jin's expression at that time?
Sheng Baiyan couldn't remember clearly, only that Su Jin's eyes, like black diamonds, made it difficult for him to sleep for many years afterward.
Sheng Baiyan knew best just how strong Su Jin's pride was.
The next day, the other party indeed took a flight and left.
Sheng Baiyan never expected that Su Jin's flight would crash.
