Chapter 5
While Gu Jinlan was furious, Bai Yueguang (Gu Jinlan's nickname) made a special appointment to chat with Ye Zhen.
Ye Zhen didn't want to go at first, but the thought of being bitten by Gu Jinlan after the job made her especially angry.
What was this person thinking?
Entangled in a complicated situation, yet able to navigate both sides successfully?
Bai Yueguang invited him to a refined and elegant banquet hall, where the courtyard was filled with green tiles and the wind rustled through the bamboo groves.
Ripples spread out in circles, like silk threads.
As the other person brewed the tea, they said, "This is a top-quality Dragon Ball Tea with a snowy flavor."
Ye Zhen didn't want to waste time: "You asked me to come here because of Gu Jinlan, right?"
Bai Yueguang glanced at him and smiled slightly: "Although we look similar, our personalities are completely different."
No two leaves are the same.
Ye Zhen crossed his arms and laughed as well.
"You and I are independent individuals; it's normal for us to be different."
He cut to the chase: "I won't lie to you, I was with President Gu. In the most cliché way, he provided the money, and I provided the woman."
Bai Yueguang's hand trembled slightly as she poured the tea, but she quickly recovered.
His eyes held no smile: "You're quite frank. But you also know that Jinlan is with you because of me."
"So?" Ye Zhen raised an eyebrow. "Should I thank you and then give you a commission?"
He chuckled and picked up his teacup: "That's not a bad idea. I'll ask Gu Jinlan for it right now, and he'll definitely give it to me."
White Moonlight probably didn't expect Ye Zhen to be so difficult to deal with, and finally changed color.
“He waited for me for many years. What we went through together is something you and he can’t compare to.”
Bai Yueguang gripped the cup tightly, his knuckles turning white from the force, and the corners of his eyes reddened slightly. "Did he ever say he loved you?"
Ye Zhen's heart skipped a beat, as if a window hadn't been closed tightly, letting in a wisp of cold wind.
His hand slowly clenched, but he still smiled: "Is his love worth anything? Why should I care?"
"Lin Shengming, there will be no winner in this confrontation between you."
Ye Zhen leaned back in his chair.
"Who was the happiest? Of course, it was Gu Jinlan, watching two men who were to his liking fight to the death for him."
"We are sad and anxious, but Gu Jinlan is so charming that he attracts countless beauties. I feel great when I imagine myself in his shoes."
"But he only does what makes him happy, picking your flower today and my leaf tomorrow, how carefree."
"I hate this kind of game." Ye Zhen pushed the cup forward. "So, without further ado, I'm quitting."
He stood up, intending to leave, but Bai Yueguang spoke up: "In the end, it's because you don't love him enough. You don't even dare to compete with me."
"There are so many good relationships out there, am I just not good enough for someone?"
Ye Zhen turned around and frowned.
"Isn't the purpose of love to make yourself happy? Otherwise, what's the point?"
Bai Yueguang remained unmoved, only smiling gently: "Ye Zhen, remember what you said, you would withdraw."
Ye Zhen thought to himself, "This person is beyond saving."
Do you really treat life like a drama?
He had just stepped out of the private room when he unexpectedly ran into Gu Jinlan.
Gu Jinlan—also known as Gu Jinlan—is always praised for his calm and steady personality and polite and proper manners. As a leader in the financial world, he basically doesn't smoke and drinks very little.
But he was leaning against the wall, a cigarette glowing crimson, and he was completely unaware that it was about to burn his hand.
Ye Zhen was stunned, suddenly realizing that the reason his white moonlight had been dragging him along for so long was simply to let Gu Jinlan hear their conversation.
Gu Jinlan stared at him, her expression somewhat frightening.
It seemed that Ye Zhen's words had an invisible weight, causing the dominoes arranged in front of his eyes to fall.
He said, "Am I really that worthless in your eyes?"
Gu Jinlan, perhaps accustomed to being a leader, exuded a formidable aura, making Ye Zhen feel somewhat uneasy.
He's just an ordinary person after all. If he angers Gu Jinlan, his career might be ruined by her.
Gu Jinlan took a step forward, and he unconsciously took a step back.
"Do you still think I'd bully you?" Gu Jinlan narrowed her eyes, her expression even more intimidating. "Afraid I'll ruin your future?"
This is terrible! Could this person possibly be monitoring his thoughts?
Ye Zhen smiled awkwardly, somewhat regretting his words. If he had known that he had just criticized not his "white moonlight" but his career, he would never have spilled everything!
"This was originally for you."
Ye Zhen then noticed that Gu Jinlan was holding a rose in her other hand.
Perhaps because I gripped it too tightly, there was now blood on my palm.
Gu Jinlan seemed to want to throw the rose away, but then she stuffed it into Ye Zhen's hand and said, "You deal with it yourself."
Seeing that Bai Yueguang was walking towards them, Ye Zhen didn't want to get entangled with them anymore, so he wanted to throw away the rose and slip away.
"Stop right there." Gu Jinlan's voice was icy. "Try throwing it away then?"
Ye Zhen turned around, his face stiff with a smile. He shrugged, plucked the rose petals, and stuffed them all into his mouth.
The flowers were chewed up, releasing a ruby-red juice.
"I'll accept it."
Ye Zhen parted his lips slightly, revealing traces of broken rose petals. He casually tossed the stems into the trash can.
"Can we go now?"
It was only at that moment that Gu Jinlan realized that if Ye Zhen was unwilling, no matter how roundabout the approach, he would not actually accept the rose.

For several days in a row, Ye Zhen did not see Gu Jinlan. Their lives seemed uneventful, as if they had erased each other's shadows.
He recently had a play where he had to perform a kidnapping scene.
Ye Zhen tried several times but couldn't quite get the hang of it. He wanted to find someone to help him find the right feeling, and his childhood sweetheart was right beside him when he made the call.
"No, no." The childhood sweetheart frowned. "What if something happens if someone kidnaps you?"
Ye Zhen thought about it and agreed, so she went to her childhood sweetheart's house to audition.
His childhood sweetheart tied him to a stool and blindfolded him.
He tried pinching Ye Zhen's neck and started to gasp.
"Your skin turns red so easily when I pinch it," the childhood sweetheart said, her voice filled with unease. "I'll go find you some skincare oil."
Ye Zhen wanted to say that he wasn't that delicate and that she shouldn't bother him, but the other person ran off to get some oil to massage him.
If this person weren't so straightforward, the two of them would probably get along well.
Ye Zhen suddenly remembered Gu Jinlan's face and couldn't help but scoff inwardly.
He's much better than that cold-faced goalkeeper Gu Jinlan.
The childhood sweethearts were busy when the doorbell rang.
The other person left the bedroom door slightly ajar and went to open it.
"Cousin?" came the voice of his childhood sweetheart from the living room. "What brings you here?"
Just then, Ye Zhen heard Gu Jinlan's voice: "Your father is out of town for an event, so he needs to wear a watch with a more youthful style. Please ask me to pick one up for him when I fly over."
"Uncle, I, I'll get it."
"If you don't know which piece you want, I'll just take it and leave."
Ye Zhen's heart was pounding in her chest.
Why is Gu Jinlan here?!
In this situation, he really has no way to explain himself!
