Chapter 48
Li Miao had dinner at a coffee shop, and now the milk tea was like a dessert after the meal.
“This is actually the second cup of milk tea I’ve had today,” Li Miao said.
"Do you also drink in the store?" Pei Huai asked.
“Yes, Sister Liang said I could have a drink if I wanted one, so I chose a matcha flavored one, and Sister Liang didn’t charge me.” Li Miao sipped her milk tea through the straw.
"So, do you like it?" Pei Huai asked with a smile, glancing sideways.
“I don’t like it. I think the matcha flavor is a bit bitter. I prefer the kind you bring me.” Li Miao glanced at the milk tea in her hand.
To be more precise, it's a grape-flavored fruit tea, with less ice.
It's sweet and sour, and very thirst-quenching.
"Didn't you buy yourself a cup? Why did you only buy one for me?" Li Miao asked curiously.
"I don't usually like to drink very sweet things, but you cats eat the same things as humans. I hope it won't harm your health?" Pei Huai asked.
"No way! We've all become human, so we can eat whatever we want. Otherwise, what's the point of us becoming human?" Li Miao said righteously.
Pei Huai couldn't help but chuckle: That makes sense, that's true. Otherwise, Miao Miao is already so happy and cute, why would she need to become human?
"If you don't like it, then forget it. I was going to feed you a sip anyway," Li Miao said casually.
Upon hearing this, Pei Huai suddenly stopped in his tracks.
He walked up to Li Miao, grasped the boy's slender wrist, and said, "I've changed my mind now. I want to take a sip and see if this grape flavor is good or not."
"Oh, drink up." Li Miao handed the drink to Pei Huai and fed him.
Pei Huai's ears turned slightly red as he took a sip of his drink from the spot where Li Miao had just drunk from.
"Isn't it sweet?" Li Miao smiled, her delicate features sparkling.
Pei Huai felt a warmth in his heart: "Mmm, it's very sweet."
Li Miao hummed a song, his steps becoming much lighter. He could earn money from his part-time job, and he even got a drink after work. Li Miao suddenly felt that becoming human to gain experience wasn't so bad. At least it allowed him to experience many things he had never experienced before.
The two did not return to their dormitory.
I heard from Liang Yixuan and Li Hang that they are playing ball on the playground now.
Since it was still early before bedtime, Pei Huai and Li Miao decided to go to the basketball court to find them.
Kyoto University has a very large area, and its basketball courts alone are divided into basketball halls and outdoor basketball courts, with more than one of each type.
The outdoor basketball court they went to was a little further away from them, next to the large playground.
As dusk fell, streetlights illuminated the campus, bathing the entire area in a warm, yellow glow. Along the way to the basketball court, Li Miao saw many couples pass by.
"Wow, so many college students are dating." Li Miao whispered gossip into Pei Huai's ear.
“Yes, that’s right,” Pei Huai replied softly.
“I used to run into a couple when I went to the artificial lake to catch koi for you. They were really kind and even helped me, but they would kiss by the lake at night. They were so brave.”
"..." Pei Huai raised an eyebrow slightly, "Knowing so clearly, it seems you saw everything."
"Hehe, how could I not see? You have no idea how good our cats' eyesight is at night. How could I not see them kissing?"
“Spying on the kitten,” Pei Huai said.
"I wasn't peeping, I was watching openly and honestly," Li Miao muttered defiantly. He wasn't the kind of cat who would deliberately watch others steal kisses.
“But speaking of which, we haven’t even tried kissing yet.” Li Miao suddenly thought of him and Pei Huai.
Upon hearing Li Miao mention kissing, Pei Huai's pale eyelids twitched slightly.
"Hmm...it seems not," Pei Huai replied softly.
Li Miao's curiosity was piqued again: "What does kissing feel like? Is it as comfortable as when we help each other?"
I heard Li Miao make such a bold statement while I was still outside.
Pei Huai swallowed nervously, deciding to tell Li Miao about the things he had promised to teach her about feelings and sex when he got home that night, so that Li Miao wouldn't discuss private matters with him in public again.
"It's best not to discuss things like mutual help in public. It's a matter of intimacy between two people, and letting outsiders overhear might cause trouble," Pei Huai said calmly.
"Oh, is that so? Okay then. I won't talk about our private matters anymore, but can we discuss things like kissing?" Li Miao asked again.
"That's called kissing, not lip-kissing. Generally speaking, it's okay to discuss kissing, but it's best not to kiss in public."
"Then what about the couple I bumped into at the artificial lake?" Li Miao asked, looking surprised.
"That's why they chose to go to the artificial lake at night when there were hardly any people around. The only mistake they made was that they didn't expect a cat with supernatural abilities to see them." Pei Huai's tone was slightly helpless.
Li Miao suddenly realized what was going on, and then she wanted to laugh a little: "I'll keep it a secret for them. I won't tell anyone else in the future, and you shouldn't tell anyone either."
Pei Huai: "Yes."
"So you still haven't told me whether kissing is comfortable or not," Li Miao asked.
Pei Huai pursed his lips, feeling as if every word Li Miao uttered had transformed into a feather, gently scratching and teasing his heart.
"I don't know either, I've never kissed anyone," Pei Huai said.
“But if you’re really curious, we can try it next time.” Pei Huai’s heart was pounding, like a drumbeat, each beat vibrating against his eardrums.
"I'm curious, but my brother told me before that I can't kiss you," Li Miao said casually, then acted as if nothing had happened and leisurely sipped her fruit tea.
"?" Pei Huai almost lost control of his expression.
"Did your brother specifically tell you this?" Pei Huai couldn't help but ask.
“Yes, no kissing, only cuddling and hugging,” Li Miao replied.
Pei Huai finally understood that in Li Miao's eyes, he was probably still just a tool.
"Then your brother knows about us..." Pei Huai asked suggestively.
Li Miao's cheeks flushed red instantly. "Brother didn't mention anything like that."
"Kissing is not allowed, and that kind of thing is probably not allowed either. If your brother finds out about you and me... he'll definitely kill me." Pei Huai could almost foresee his tragic fate.
Li Miao also realized that what happened between him and Pei Huai at the hotel might have exceeded the limits his brother had allowed.
But what's done is done, and there's no going back.
"I'll keep it a secret from my brother, don't worry." Li Miao said, patting Pei Huai's shoulder.
After being comforted by Li Miao, Pei Huai was both amused and exasperated.
Before heading to the basketball court, Pei Huai and Li Miao stopped at a supermarket and bought a bag of energy drinks.
As they walked outside the basketball court, Pei Huai and Li Miao heard the sounds of basketballs hitting the ground and bouncing back up from not far away.
Once inside, they quickly found Liang Yixuan, Li Hang, and other members of the same club who played ball with them.
Liang Yixuan greeted Li Hang, and then took a break.
"Thanks." Liang Yixuan took the drink.
"No need, Li Hang, here you go." Pei Huai also gave Li Hang a bottle of drink, and then distributed the remaining drinks to the others.
Liang Yixuan and Li Hang inwardly admired Pei Huai's thoughtfulness.
Everyone who needs to be considered has been considered.
"Don't look at me like that." Pei Huai looked at Liang Yixuan.
“Isn’t praising you enough?” Liang Yixuan chuckled.
After resting for two or three minutes, Liang Yixuan went on stage. Li Hang sat on the rest bench, panting heavily. He waved his hand and said he couldn't go on anymore.
"It has to work, even if it's not feasible, we're short-handed." Liang Yixuan urged him to persevere.
Li Hang asked Pei Huai if he could take his place.
Pei Huai hadn't originally planned to play ball.
Seeing that Li Hang was really exhausted, Liang Yixuan encouraged Pei Huai to play ball for a while.
Some members of the basketball club had not yet played against Pei Huai and were curious about his basketball skills, given his minor fame among freshmen at Peking University.
However, given his height and long, strong limbs, he's probably a skilled basketball player.
"We can still fight even with one less person," Pei Huai initially declined.
Liang Yixuan pulled out his secret weapon: "Li Miao is here, don't you want to show off in front of him?"
Pei Huai: "..."
Liang Yixuan, who had a perfect grasp of human nature, chuckled to himself.
He then turned to Li Miao and asked if she wanted to see Pei Huai play basketball.
Having not yet seriously watched Pei Huai play basketball, Li Miao sat in her chair, her eyes shining as she nodded.
Pei Huai was completely under his control.
She could only accompany Liang Yixuan onto the field.
After doing a few simple warm-up exercises to avoid cramps during the game, Pei Huai caught the ball that Liang Yixuan threw to him, and his casual movements became much more serious.
Pei Huai and Liang Yixuan are on the same team, and the rest of their teammates and opponents are all members of the basketball club.
The match begins.
Pei Huai got into the zone, as if he had returned to the time when he and Liang Yixuan had a great working relationship back in high school.
His passing, dribbling, and shooting are all clean and crisp.
Pei Huai tossed the basketball with his long, pale fingers, and the ball landed precisely in the net, causing it to wobble slightly from the impact.
Before many people could react, Pei Huai had already scored.
It was getting dark, and Li Miao, who was watching from the sidelines, didn't seem to see very clearly either. She didn't know how Pei Huai faked his way past the opponent.
The entire set of movements was so fluid and graceful it was unbelievable.
Li Miao's eyes widened, and she even forgot to continue drinking her beverage.
After shooting, Pei Huai glanced in this direction before quickly turning back to continue the game.
"That's amazing! That dribbling is incredible!" Li Hang couldn't help but exclaim. "I've always heard Liang Yixuan say that Pei Huai's basketball skills are even better than his."
"This is more than just a little better. Liang Yixuan is bragging again." Li Hang couldn't help but laugh. "Looks like Pei Huai was holding back when he played with us last time."
"Is Pei Huai really that good? Although I also think his movements are very elegant and fluid." Li Miao asked, not understanding.
"Impressive, you handled it with ease," Li Hang said.
"Many laymen don't understand. Every time they see an exaggerated shot, they think it's so amazing."
"Many of those that look impressive are actually just flashy tricks. The truly impressive ones are like Pei Huai just now, who scored with ease before anyone could even react."
"Effortlessly in control of the overall situation."
"Holy crap, a three-pointer! It's in again!" Li Hang couldn't help but exclaim.
Hearing Li Hang say this, Li Miao's eyes unconsciously followed Pei Huai closely.
The boy's clothes swayed gently in the breeze, making him seem to glow.
